Renesas looks to improve AI processing with Cortex-A55 MCU
Improving AI processing in 64bit general purpose MCUs is the aim Renesas with three new members of its RZ/G2 MCU family.
The entry-level models are built around the Arm Cortex-A55 core.
According to Renesas, the Cortex-A55 CPU core delivers approximately 20% improved processing performance compared with the earlier Cortex-A53 core, and is approximately six times faster “in essential processing for AI applications”. The MCUs also have camera input interfaces, a 3D graphics engine and a video codec, providing support for human-machine interface applications such as multimedia processing, GUI rendering and AI image processing.
