Area Delegate Chris Runion wrote a letter to Governor Ralph Northam yesterday urging him to return to in-person learning as well as easing restrictions to allow cheerleaders and band members to participate at outdoor school events.
Runion said he has heard from many parents and students, including a cheerleader from Buffalo Gap High School, who wrote that she feels like her freedom has been taken away and the toll that this is taking on her mental health is greater then the risk of the coronavirus.
Governor Northam has scheduled a press conference for later this morning and speculation is that he will allow for increased attendance at outdoor events.
