SAGINAW, MI - A seat on the Saginaw County Board of Commissioners that has been traditionally held by Republicans is now occupied by a Democrat for the first time in at least two decades.
The Saginaw County Board of Commissioners appointed Democrat Cynthia Winiecke to fill the District 1 seat during a virtual meeting on Thursday, April 22. The seat was previously held by Republican Kathy Dwan who recently submitted her resignation after moving out of her district. District 1 encompasses all of Tittabawassee and Kochville townships and portions of Saginaw and Thomas townships.
