LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - The Salvation Army and Hunger Task Force of La Crosse are furthering their longtime partnership to launch Food Distribution Days.
On Wednesday, volunteers helped fill boxes full of food like rice, canned peaches, stew, and stuffing. These boxes will then be distributed to families in need on the first Friday of the month.
The goal is to alleviate some of that stress families may be experiencing during the pandemic.
"Maybe they're trying to get caught up on their mortgage or their heat bills or their electric bills," said Major Jeff Richardson of the Salvation Army of La Crosse County. "Offsetting their food cost is so much of a help to individuals, and so we're glad to be apart of it."
