Del. Mike San Nicolas stated that he was working on Liberation Day, in response to criticism from Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero over him missing recent memorial ceremonies.Â
In an interview with NewsTalk K57, the governor stated that she knew the delegate's office was aware of the ongoing ceremonies. She said that San Nicolas' absence was a dishonor to war survivors.Â
The delegate responded with a news release, and said his office would not use Guam's liberation commemoration for political purposes.
"On July 21, 22, and 23 your congressman was working; we had a hearing on territorial hunger where we testified before the House Rules Committee, a meeting with House members and the administration on Afghan relocation, a meeting with regional Army Corps of Engineers on Guam Projects and the Guam Memorial Hospital, a meeting with regional FBI on drugs, crime, and corruption on Guam, and a meeting with the Pacific Commander Adm. Aquilino on relocation readiness and regional threats," the release stated.Â
