Former Tamil Nadu Minister V Senthil Balaji's remand was extended till March 18 by a sessions court in connection with a money laundering case. The court also scheduled the hearing on a discharge petition filed by Balaji for the same day. Meanwhile, the Madras High Court issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate on Balaji's revision petition challenging a lower court's decision to dismiss his plea to defer the trial. Balaji was arrested by the ED in June 2023 in connection with a cash-for-jobs scam when he was the Transport Minister in an earlier AIADMK regime.
