A Shenandoah County company has announced that it is laying off hundreds of employees as part of an organizational restructuring plan.
According to a press release, Shentel says it will lay off about 340 employees across the telecommunication company’s six-state service area.
However, Shentel will still have around 860 employees following the restructuring to supports its broadband and tower segments.
The press release also stated that in addition to the workforce reduction, the Edinburg-based company will incur certain termination expenses, with about 1.7 million dollars related to continuing operations and around four and a half million dollars related to discounted operations.
