According to residents, people had begun selling their homes in January after a report by IIT-Delhi last year declared the buildings unfit for inhabitation. At the time, prices of the flats fell to Rs 1.5-1.7 crore whereas the market rate in the same area was around Rs 2.7-3 crore, residents said.
