ST. LUCIE COUNTY — All students will be back in their classrooms next year, the school district said Wednesday.
The announcement comes just weeks before the end of the current school year, which was rattled by hundreds of positive COVID-19 cases, students sent to quarantine and some students returning to school after months of learning from home.
St. Lucie is the first Treasure Coast school district to plan a full return to traditional learning environments and end its remote-education option.
"The decision was made because we wanted to give parents plenty of time to consider their options for next school year," said spokesperson Lydia Martin. Moreover, "we know the best environment for our children is face-to-face (and) in the classroom."
