WATER PROBLEMS â Problems at Steubenvilleâs water filtration plant has caused concerns and resulted in a request for water customers to conserve water âto the greatest extent possible.â Cold temperatures and other factors are to blame, city officials said.
STEUBENVILLE – Three years after a series of line breaks and broken valves left parts of the city without water for nearly two weeks, Mother Nature is again wreaking havoc – this time, blanketing the community with cold temperatures that have compromised a key part of the filtration system.
On Friday, Water Superintendent Jim Jenkins asked residents to conserve water “to the greatest extent possible” due to “unfortunate circumstances at the filtration plant” triggered by prolonged periods of cold.
