The 29-year-old man who survived a blizzard in the Sierra last week by hunkering down in his pickup truck is seeking help to excavate the vehicle, which remains buried under several feet of snow in the wilderness.
Harland Earls, of Placer County, got lost Jan. 24 driving from Grass Valley to Truckee when the GPS navigation on his smartphone led him down an unplowed back road into the heart of Tahoe National Forest. After running into deep snow he got stuck trying to turn his truck around.
