The Q1 report attributes much of the relatively strong position to a healthier than expected housing market. Revenue in the safety codes department is particularly strong.
“They’ve already achieved at March 31 fifty per cent of their budgeted operational revenues,” Galon said.
“Speaking with the safety codes team, we believe that to be due to higher-than-expected growth and new home sales, home renovations and new businesses starting up in the first quarter.”
She added that at ‘initial glance’, it appeared as if the trend would continue through the second quarter.
“I think from a public perspective, the ‘good news story’ here is that we’re trending in the right direction,” councillor Alex Reed said following her presentation.
