Struggling to on the exact go everywhere in France and the French overseas territories the system is under strain and the epidemic is not yet under control so we must continue our efforts and continue to respect the rules the more they respected the more lives will be saved that's why the strictest lockdown must continue until Monday May the 11th and the me in Washington President Trump says his administration is close to completing a plan to reopen the u.s. Economy is also angrily defended his handling of the crisis which has already seen more than $20000.00 Americans die at last night's White House briefing reporters suggested that Mr Trump ignored warnings about the spread of the virus January 31st in the United States not one person said because of the again the war on us so I issued a travel restrictions and the date even though nobody did and I realize of it by the press because I was way too early I should have done it brutalized by the press but you know sort of I've been brutalized the last 4 years here the Tottenham Hotspur supporters club has welcomed to U.-Turn by the board which will see the club pull out of using the government's job retention scheme to pay non-playing members of staff the group which last week urged Spurs to do the right thing says it's pleased this an alternative way forward has been found local council leaders say they're disappointed by a reported rise in fly tipping since the beginning of the lock down figures from the Web site clear way suggest the worst hit areas have seen a 70 percent increase following the closure of official civic community sites the weather after a chilly start it'll be dry and sunny for most of the u.k. But cloudy or in the south east of England and the northwest of Scotland b.b.c. News it's 3 minutes past 5. B.b.c. Radio Wales Good morning to you we've been having conversations this morning the front page article in The Telegraph it's morning it says police are advising the public to confront people of one off breaches of law down rules rather than reporting them so I've been asking you this morning whether you've been reporting. You've been confronting them and how that has gone for you this morning on learning that we have another 3 weeks at least down how has that affected your mental health did you go into this crisis with mental health issues and has made them worse has it ironically made them better or did you go into this crisis without any mental health issues and now you're really. Really suffering I might hear from you this morning as well. Doing to keep your mental health in check. 173000. So. Here we are again talking about lockdown and about the fact that it's another 3 weeks I don't know about you but it feels like the last 3 weeks have gone reasonably quickly I mean I have been lucky that I have been working right so my shadow hasn't really changed it hasn't really altered much in any significant way fairly antisocial person anyway. And I've just been staying at. My job I got home literally this soon as the show is over the next are still talking I'm out of the building and into a car on the way home and that's the way they want to say they want anybody hanging around get out of the office get home so that's what I'm doing and I mean staying at home that's my life like your life is but it seems to have gone relatively quickly for me. But I'm aware that I do have the option. I do you have the opportunity to go to work I do have the most wonderful dog in the whole Well that makes everything better so I want to hear from you this morning about how you typing with the lock down and how you feel about it being an extra 3 weeks and do you think it's sensible advice to report your neighbor or to confront your neighbor. Got loads of Texan e-mails on that I'll get to in just a moment but the foreign secretary Dominic Rapa said the government did not expect to make changes to knock down measures when they were reviewed and when they were reviewed earlier this week this week Sage will review the evidence of the effectiveness of the social distancing measures that we've taken and we will consider their evidence their assessment based on the evidence of that point. I should say we don't expect to make any changes to the measures currently in place at that point and we won't until we're confident as confident as we released it Candy that any such changes can be safely made well Martin McCain a professor of Public Health said Number 10 were not be able to work to a definitive timetable we have to be very careful about setting dates this virus does not have a diary was public holidays marked and that people can talk about make bank holidays and things like that we need to be driven by the science and the data and we need the accurate data. Well the government has also confirmed that there have been outbreaks of coded 19 at more than 2000 care homes in England the country's chief medical officer Chris Witty said the disease a been detected and detected in one in 7 of all care homes if an outbreak is suspected then the public health authorities will go in and do testing to assess with an outbreak has occurred and that allows the care home staff who are absolutely fantastic and are doing a very difficult job they can then isolate people who are symptomatic and try and make sure that this does not spread within the chaotic I'm Meanwhile the government's chief scientific advisor Sapan Vallance has predicted that the number of people with covert 19 who die in hospitals in the u.k. Each day will reach its peak this week so it looks like the lockdown is here to stay for a bit longer and I'm asking you this morning how you feel about 807312000 How's it affecting your mental health. I got a an e-mail here that literally made me laugh out loud from Vietnam just reading it sensibly through you'll see why it made me laugh at the end do we have to do either Why don't we talk people are stressed and confused Take for example the man who called regarding a tenant who had her boyfriend over maybe her boyfriend like me lives alone and has no contact with anybody yeah it's not good but if you find out the facts then you can make a decision saying that the man has a right to be concerned Additionally if you don't someone in that person will probably know who did it in most cases and this could cause a long term feud on the other hand confront suggest isa parea discuss the issue if things don't change then confront and then finally report and then the line the killer line except of course if you want to he seems to be in a. It may be low shouldn't really but it made me love. You must love your neighbor over the weekend I decided to do my washing Unfortunately the waste water from the washing machine instead of going down the pipes went over my kitchen floor possibly down into my neighbor's front my neighbor's ceiling must mean dripping dripping but she still loves me my neighbor is from by me last night I would love nothing more nothing more than to be friendly with my neighbor I've tried Trust me I'm a diplomat I tried everything. This one from Dorn says I'm like you and I do not like reporting people however I have a neighbor who has few years blasted loud music whereas I am here I only hear the bass and it goes on into the alley hours or attempted on several occasions to have a word this is not had any results so the only solution I know is to report the problem is made worse by the lockdowns I'm stuck at home sometimes I have to stay with a friend to get away from the noise the noise nuisance of the council all not taking calls and then don't say thanks keeping us company during the night I love your show and I'm easily a silent listener or don't it's lovely to have you reach out for this morning in my heart goes out to me it really does concern me when people say this. But I thank you give me a call if you can and only one day may be brave enough to be lovely 807312000 in is in Coventry now who sent you to Coventry in. Our I I'm sorry and tell me about what what do you what do you worry about with your neighbors. Who are. Bullies more the whole 100 harmony people. Or maybe not famous. These days. It's just for a. Straight report. On some. Cost more than going out so often no. Whoa whoa that's not really out the only response if you don't know. No maybe the whole lot. More than the space. Solo gigs. Quite close yeah. It is true but you say the police are doing I'm busy doing other things all of the crimes that have fallen Of course I mean there's no need really for the traffic police for example to be risen up and down the mate's ways checking people speeding cars is just on the drivers out there there's not the muggings on the street there's no this is there's a lot of crime that is now not going on right so that won't quote the new crimes are if you like all the new infractions. You know they should perhaps be looked into and we should take them a bit more serious lace because well no not really notice that they're not they're not doing all of those big investigations at the moment less that time sensitive you know all of it is to do with coronavirus and we see them wondering about impacts on Long Beach is taking people off the beach Well I understand that that's got to be tough on but then they have got time to deal with with other issues you know they do. Call. For so you know it's not the same case. Prostitutes the. Police or. The people who are taken to make a morning because corn is only about some concludes will not support. Such scampering then when I mean if you were going to do that you know over one of them a cool place or. Another me. Grandfather. Is still going to go to. The club and 1st day yeah I'm a close the sea so we stay because of what's going on the loose. 3 full full of people turning on the members of the charms over the. Months what you are which is shay. Called up the phone company of people so. They've come a long ways of blue is this really happening yeah examine this so we can all go on one of the with almost a score motor company. Here but it will keep on top legal and saw how almost all what's really going on. But I'm going on leave the house. 34 times a day. Or so given up on the coast miles stop my wife's call horse go out to doze twice today go to doubts the not so often and knowledge tool to welcome change to a state. I've begun that that needs checking up on twice a day. To shop and things I say I presume I have is the better measure of the. Situation because happy to. Post just so you know I came to it as a control banning to. Attack me instead of I'm self employed them of the way I. Work on my account house. My Even if it's hard for me some of the material I don't tell r.c. Extends to my head and. If anyone's in the same boat now if you've got a group lots. Of Me How do you how do on the not students to know living in the same house one of them guys only get to shop even 3 of said I should have been there would I come out with you and if you don't and if you Sir confirmed to know me well you can do is get back shal. Be a miniseries The place I mean thanks a and even say. You have a sign that they are trying the lamp posts in here in around in behaving really really badly and that can be quite scary and all I was saying to him was that that that is the police just don't let them tell you it's not that job no it's a coming out there is it is that job they are public servants and last they might be saying that the stretch and I understand completely get out of God and do nothing but love and support for the police. When they try to dodge. You know looking after a hard to spot with a magnet response he had whispered. Oh hold on my mom Ok not a moment you hold on hold the whole. Community a not so again when the. Young. Minutes explain some control some on the phone about. Come and claim that the military didn't ignore me so you. Could be hours or even one months or a. Minimally horse. A great. Game some people are so its own. Course could be called. About. So. Well. Sometimes see an enemy sometimes you know what all it takes is to be hurt. Oh it would have taken was for his cool to have been taken taken seriously some advice given to him about his protection some advice given to him as to what happens if they come back that would have been enough and sometimes that's all it takes is just to listen to some the day not to fuck them off and tell him to go online. Lost her hold Well she was on lollies I think. Because sometimes Also sometimes you just need to talk to a cuppa or somebody simple as that job that's what they're paying for. So if you need only sort of you know it's only a. Normal hole or you seem to know. Something . Or so or so and so you know always in some sort of so because cases or in Spain do so people use one of the schools. Say so cos most of all yeah which is what I was saying terms take names in the time of the colon and just make sure that people do take it seriously that starts to. Just be heard. There it is really sad I can't bear people being political combat or it really gets my back up or being ignored it's one of those things in life that really really annoys me I feel like a bit of a crack cape crusader. And it's lovely to see even Coventry thank you so much and then making the point and a very valid point that you can't judge people you don't know what you don't know why they're leaving the house what's going on I had to get my car it's time to get my car in weeks to get my car is fixed I had to go to House for us to pick something up it was essential to the way. And I was none of us police found to be homicide. I mean failing in London in 2020 think things get to the place pay me I'm in case they stopped me and I had to justify why I was out the house I could have I mean I would have been I would say however soon feel very nice does it so let's not be to judgment so if you see somebody going for a run twice doesn't matter does it matter I mean maybe it does. I'd like you to join in the conversation this morning. You have. You have the whole of the world at the moment in a lockdown situation where we have a situation where it seems that everybody is going through this but does this make us feel any better the fact that we're being told that we have to look down for longer friends being told that they're looking down for longer as well to May the fourteen's although they are releasing some people to be able to go back to work same is happening in Spain at the moment that the manufacturing as a factories and. Building sites are now allowed to go back to work is that what we see happening here without so we going to start saying certain sections of society certain sectors of business being allowed to go back to work and how would you feel if it was your sector would you feel it was some kind of experiment would you feel happy about going back to work and we be talking about your mental health and. And how this is affected you and the idea of staying for 3 more weeks does it fill you with dread horror or is it actually Ok you coping like to have me on either end of that 080-731-2000 is in sorry. And then let me that. And then in which I am back we're trying to see in pens and good moaning in pens on how i Pad tree to tree it is Petri you are wonderful I love your program see thank you so much I get confused with all the names but anyway this lockdown I don't want it to end so I know it sounds bizarre but I suffer from well I intermittently for mental health issues to Major Depressive Disorder. A.d.h. D. You know attention. Just can't set it off. Hyperactive maybe see that you know that . I'm out of breath I've just come up stairs because the radios downstairs but I quite frankly you know the peace and quiet tranquility is telling me the world is good I mean it sounds so selfish because there's people dying out there sick and the n.h.s. Is rush rushed off their feet and everything. But from a personal viewpoint I mean account explain. The choice I feel and the Meese of mind. That's interesting I want to examine that a little bit father so why did you say it should be because there's nobody rushing around out around you shot always not illegally yet and there's no deadlines you don't have to be anywhere at a certain time and there's no distractions it's just I've got so much done in my creativity has come out in force and I play a tenor recorder and Eskom recorder not been able to my music scene proofed and everything cooking keeping my house tidy and clean these are things you could have done before on that I know not with my condition right not as well I mean I go through phases of being very well to being you know suicidally depressed which I would never commit suicide because it's against my my principles and I but I can feel very depressed and sad all day and not Walsh and all this and not 8. In fact that was just earlier this year from November to January I had a terrible terrible. Episode of depression. Medicines for oh yes right Ok but it's just interesting to me to hear that there's something some people dislike that has been a blessing and it's not just you it's not just yeah I think I sort of feel guilty about also you know yeah I can imagine I can imagine well you know I can go but it's going on out there and people suffering and you know people really under extreme stress and there's me living the life of Larry you know you know you are in any way. I think it's wrong I lay I right I don't even know who i really is but I mean when I look I. I I think Mrs Malaprop. The life of Larry that it's happening is Larry he is Larry the life of Riley. You know and I It's interesting really fascinating that because a lot of people with mental health issues say that they feel that the pressure of the every day walled. In racing around doing everything makes them feel inadequate and and that they're not feeling but when everybody else is not achieving and everybody else is so. That it takes the pressure off spot so you are yeah and you know and my neighbors I'm sorry that you've got a rotten old neighbor but I really feel for you because I don't think I could live with that. My neighbor the whole street we've got a lovely Oh I see Quality Street type. It's beautiful my street and I mean $0.10 the other issue there is $11.00 grey area and it was something that does upset me is that I mean $0.10 and call one very lucky is being used to live a notch. Way inland Oh very nice Well that was nice and well I like that anyway so I'm one of these mad swimmers that goes in every single day to the sea whether it's you know freezing cold in the middle of winter you know wet suit. So my wife swims I mean it's a known fact that it's a defect lifting and if beneficial for people with my condition. But now the lockdown is to 2 schools of thought where we're actually told that by they are analog to not go swimming which is killing me on the other hand the the in my swimming friends divided 5050 some are not swimming and some all are well I think I'd have to do my war effort not you know go along with the status quo but it's it's not I'm not mom suffering in that it's awful to say that not suffering but it's it's hard for me yeah No You know I was on the if you used to run and it was a routine is very good business very healthy for some people with mental health issues that routine is read to be important as the signs I see all day if you like and if the sign faces ripped away it's a bit of non settling feeling and it's yeah it is in but on the other hand the police sorry to interrupt us right the police have seen people swimming and they said it's alright as long as you go in for the maximum of 15 minutes which is reasonable. But I just know that if you get into distress and they have to call they are an ally that so much as he says both that he out of the nines then oh. Yeah that's why they are an ally up in arms about yeah so I'm trying to do my bit and not going swimming I think it's not the end of the world I'm doing lots of things here I drew doing my trowing and my music my my recorder playing and singing. Always sounds like it's going to be you're going to start seeing Climb Every Mountain and. I know one of our songs was with me let's fly let's slow no way everybody is saying this morning that's something you know you know on the LP see I was I was manic this is in the early days it will be safe rock I said Hell I'm Susie fly me. No no no no this is a I would never do that lesson is she died in pens you take a Madonna have a lovely day I do cool again we like you I've been singing this. She's going on going to. Write I've got lots of texts. And emails to get through just looking at the clock 2 minutes yeah this very quickly speak to Jenny and she and then I got through text Jenny good morning. Saying good morning I was standing about. You know urging people should not be each other anything and I just think. I'm more on the flu for the police to be telling people. Because there are so many people around here who have roots and you know I don't know what the actual them but it got real hostility to other people and they can. The nuns in their own often say their nose in their in their own trousers I wasn't a good I mean I'm not for them I was not there I'm with Windows Yeah and they're this sort of like this seems to be some kind of need but people have to live finger others and such a virtue signal. Will be signaling. And you know he's had friends. And I can tell you you know at one stage 5000000 Aist East Germans was spying on the other 12000000 are it's hard. To say yes and you know I know that sounds extreme but it's the same kind of does citizens feel driven by a sense of self-righteousness. And you know I'm always here you know they were all wicked people they were doing what they thought was the right thing pointing out they made this you know it's horrible it's a horrible journey and I don't want to go there and I don't want to live in a society where that is the norm I think I got you absolutely right he said that is a journey isn't it that we should really really need to take that do we not on and things happen then we can make all the other things that people feel are greater b.b.c. Radio Wales the time is 530. The headlines on Matthew Schofield the government's scientific advisors meet later to review the U.K.'s progress in tackling coronavirus the report their findings to the cabinet but ministers have already made it clear the lockdown will remain in place Italy is allowing a limited number of shops and businesses to reopen today after 5 weeks in lockdown yesterday the country reported a fall in the number of patients requiring critical care treatment for the 10th day in a row but in France the lockdowns been extended for at least another 4 weeks after that president says schools can gradually reopen but restaurants must stay closed Donald Trump has insisted he's calling the shots and he'll decide when the u.s. Can start easing its lockdown not individual state governors the president says his administration is close to finalizing a plan to restart the economy and he's angrily rejected suggestions that he ignored warnings about the spread of the virus and here the government's confirm more than 2000 care homes have reported outbreaks of covert 19 that's about one in 7 but the boss of one leading care provider has warned it's just the tip of the iceberg and the charity Age u.k. Claims the virus is running wild in care homes the weather after a chilly start it'll be dry and sunny for most of us although there will be thick a cloud this morning in the southeast b.b.c. News it's $531.00. Thanks to disagree. With Alexis takes to challenge us to try to see a pretty seamless. Web site. And a good morning to you this is b.b.c. Local radio and it is picture here with you on your early breakfast show just before you join up with all of your spectacular breakfast shows across the nation. We're talking at the moment about this has a mental health implication and if anybody tells you they don't have a strategic cry or strategic weep then then I would be surprised to learn I really would because I think all of us finding this has free will. It's weird and it's difficult and it's just bizarre our current account that we're all so used to doing going anywhere we like and we will get a front seat during that I'll go and do it I fancy meeting up with science I just don't do it then and now we come home and it's all to me we had that for me and I thought all of camping this week and then you get to go to calm things have changed things a wee it so I'm just wondering how you're coping on a mental health level there will be those like Susie in Penzance who is there really enjoying it because actually with her mental health issue this takes the pressure off she doesn't have to feel like she's she's falling behind oh she's not Chiva No she's not she's not part of the human race because everybody around her was same boat so suddenly she's relieved of that pressure and that has opened her up to being artistic and being creative and bursting into song on radio programs. So it hasn't it's having a really good effect on some of the really poor effect on others and you know I feel sorry for actually the most is those people with o.c.d. This must be absolute torture because I mean I'm going around wiping everything. Is a come back into the house and I probably don't need to. But I don't have I see days so I can only imagine what that must be like so I'm asking you about this morning I'm talking about you or your mental health through all of this now that we learn we've got another 3 weeks at least. Of of lockdown and even then it may be a staggered reopening of society and you may be at the back of the queue before your allowed out back onto the streets back to the pubs back to normal life so I'm asking about also the front page of The Telegraph this morning people who are advising police are advising the public to confront people guilty of one off breaches of lockdown rather than report them. The move follows claims that some forces have been inundated with calls and reports about people flouting restrictions with many including mine of breaches such as a neighbor going on 2 runs a day however civil liberties groups have said they said Vyse could damage community and the neighborly relations if people start. Taking each other to Tom ask for was full of fun to be in what he doing out of your house like a pool. Language that I compulsively use the b.b.c. But I'm going to use when David is in both and good morning David and both in good moaning. How are you today. Under a. Mental health issue. So I can call. You know for. People. For me. To change my the store I mean However this one I mean. I was never a. Sense of it the mental. Hospital. One that was made because it's true if you. Are paying with your mental health issues it should be outside of the House Senate thing you know. Just you know free of the building and I'm wondering about when to stop me not be able to do that that's a sick can change your behavior. I mean I struggle every day. I mean I've been lucky because. The boy social services because I'm a. They put me in touch with. Other organizations were just to. Pay for. Religion. Don't even think you're open a lawyer today. They were absolutely. Over the tall. So many things that you changed your routine so you don't go out and you know how do you have to set yourself a routine you stick by just like I said Mr morning right. Now put in a morning and just student could say no case has been some annoyed before. My paperwork for the day thank you. To a. Way with. Us going to big. Big you go. Over there for. Each. Interesting occurrence Yeah. I know. It's going away and will be back to whatever it is. It's just and I just am not completely it is so hard as a mind to can if you used to being out and about but I see you've got the wrong idea haven't you in. Having had to avoid organized. So getting out to chat having a shower shaking dressed. Getting Jaguar clearing up all the South sitting down having some breakfast lending a pipe what he done was just send you your way. Because . They put. Somebody to. Show you so my. Weapon is. Just boys. She's been helping with the internet so I because I thought no access to enter at. All. So. Say Roy I'm going to do this or your your mind set up because a con. 62. I'm ready to go further now you know not really to. Show. She spirit Oh so it's right here and to serve us well this is. The d.c. Local radio League the absolutely unsung hero of this situation my colleagues up and down the county shaking doing an absolutely amazing job and I keep saying this but it's not just the work they do with you guys on talking to you listening but it's off to college says well making sure you've got connections making sure you've got food and this is not being reported widely that up and down the country people are staying off to their shifts produces people who are working in the air to make sure that their audience is a safe and wow and there's nobody talking about a little bit a bit saddened by it but I'm glad that you've been looked after by b.b.c. One share and there are thousands of stories like it was up and down the country David it's good to to thank you very much indeed Safari good idea either isn't it just to get some routine. Although the idea of sitting down doing paperwork every day blah you know not for me think Pole is in Milton Keynes Good morning Po the only place I'm if I don't even own it I'm good thank you I mean how are you today yes fine thank you I did yeah I mean I'm just carried on I'm being sensible and you know I mean I think we go be careful that care might be worse in a day you know that we've got to see more people can get out a little bit more I mean it's things like Cocoa Sisco prying fails families can go for a walk around and perhaps came to sense of having a rough gardon a fight maybe it's not so you mate says you know I kind of like but this the feels something experimental at the moment about lifting the knockdown and I don't want to be that. Spera and I don't want anyone I love to be in that experiment you know to Maine I think it's interesting that I'm called a little more precise I mean 'd all got to say of a saying well I have the paper diet going for me for what I saw they for instance I mean when they look down does get a stove you know they could have a something like If I find one in a 1000 years on the 4th say you know some in some I go I've gone when I say I cry then you know they do have those because they do they do not know that it's it's it's majority older men I'm sorry. Yeah yeah but it's not you know they do have to fix it you have to break down Om but still I was reading at the weekend that if they looked if they lifted the lockdown for. 20 to 30 year olds who are not living with their parents' rights they're living independently that would cost they could do that and get that age group out there but that would cost around $670.00 lives and I kind of went right I wanted to call 670 lines. You know I mean only statistically 10000 pain something like that 10000 people every waking Great Britain are you from I would I think you know so they always figures can be a little bit alarmist you know but these are on top it is it is rough 11000 people a week that dive other reasons and other diseases in the u.k. And these these figures are on top but that the thing that makes this significantly different is that that it is so. Aggressive and people have been you know reported to have died of this within 2 days of of showing symptoms you know it can be so aggressive we don't know how it to hang well I suppose does not mean every dog the flu every year but we know roughly how the flu behaves we got vaccines against the flu if we all took all vaccines us while the elderly population is advised to have a 3 vaccine every year if we all had those and those deaths would come down. This is an aggressive novel virus that nobody knows how it behaves and so if there is a certain there is a certain fair to that yes I think the thing is as well that it's if you keep if you get out and give your lungs some exercise then if you do I would certainly contract. At least you say so much more I guess for you know if you're spending all indoors and not getting your ex. Yeah. You got to try and get out I mean you know what I don't like I don't very much like going out for my walk and I tell you why because it's weird. Just weird and I don't like it I don't like the people like I said there was a joke around possum. I was so close I could read his d.n.a. I think I get out my face I don't like I don't like the thought that is strange I don't mind the fact that people's faces a covered and I can't consummate them I can't smile at me and I don't like it. So I I'd go for a very quick well cartographer walk till I know what I was like I don't like it freaks me out a bit well I mean having said that doctors are always saying sounds are no new skin helps you see if it means secam into something in the body can you explain that in Day I mean I see when I left I had thoughtfully had to go in the trying to London yes you from Milton Keynes on the only place like warehouse where I was about 10 o'clock in the morning and I did get approached by a rather white chap packed milk taste I since I What was I up to not simple you know helplessness trying to deal and I'm just going to go down with some pipe. And that was about I don't know what we have now carry telling I doubt carrots myself even on the cheap I'm from Euston So you know there was was more people begging on the tritone the most people probably that was a thing are so well you know that walking up and down you know but now that somebody will use it's Tyson Well you know it's rehab isn't it saying anything out of the sun because the prices are totally empty and it would appear to be quite foggy you know to act out grab an empty station but yeah yeah and the. Bizarre and it kind of freaks me out I don't like it still you know I keep thinking I keep thinking all those films that have to pay to clear London streets they could all be filming right now it's like you did an empty street it's that I thought I was if I was have a camera press not be out sheeting every street in London in the best quality possible and then just fuck it filmmakers into in the future and that's what I'd be doing and I wouldn't be allowed to because I would be allowed out I mean I do feel for people even in a cities I farm sang in a private school. But I couldn't applying for things like that or you know Colorado I don't I don't yeah there's not many playing fields left and. Maybe things float Well I'm like you know because we got plenty of mispricing But yeah nobody right here why do you think that there needs to be more open spaces for people but it's a tricky thing isn't it with with opening up the lockdown Malcolm has calls from Australia Good morning to you Mile can whereabouts in Australia I. Am I live in a place called and. I live in close call I want to be in Queensland right i.k. Nice to speak to you this morning and we're talking about reporting neighbors don't believe the plane it's just this guy wanting you know most of us yes he does but. A small a difference the sauce you know over here and thing today is more not quite sure reserved as leader of the English although I mean beach. But they think carriage too if you see you know groups of people having a good mix or whatever to actually recall to. Find the reason for this is we're trying to. The spread of this terrible disease this and the more people that are reported the less humiliation of people together the better chance we have. We've had 61. You know strike here compared to the rest of the world wow where I read that I were Aus and now. I'm not too sure how I would as a percentage where very very cold just. About spreading the virus but I'm the only one really I you know worried as to what we give up as a society in order to find mess. Well certainly here we accept that we don't live here people moan about being locked away in those but it's part of society today. And it will change with. Yes it will not whole 6 months could be a year. You know we don't have any international clubs coming in their own brand. We have roadblocks concrete blocks across the. Old are. Controlled by the army and the police if you don't have a permit you call it I mean. And you can go well. You know I'm always as I was of a presidential statement and I commented on it's President American president who said people prepared to give up previous safe for security deserve neither I have to or are. It's just an interesting quote because you know if we prepared just for a way privacy and dumping on each other is exactly that isn't it really is to not allow somebody their private life. It is it just seems to me to be a thin end of the wedge situation because if we I mean that this Stasi convince people that that they were doing the right thing that it was the right thing to report your neighbor it was the right thing to report so they were convinced they were doing the right thing they want to be nasty. And if the rest of us believe it's the right thing to report people then that's what we did in they end up having the same effect. We don't have any issues with neighbors around here I mean I live in a gated community. We you know we don't use towels. Around the body and you're coming up to winter now on. An hour just to figure out why because he was there we saw him because of some aside how. You know it's good to see you this morning from Australia I said it's just a lot I love that quote it's one I strive how often and I suppose have pets give up previously for security deserve neither wish it was my quote isn't. Just a really interesting way of looking at where we are at the moment well the government scientific advances will meet later today to review how effective the lockdown has actually been in tackling the spread of Corona virus the foreign secretary Dominic Robb has already confirmed it will remain in place for now with some of suggested using knock downs intimidation until the vaccines right. He had to manage the pressure on the n h s bot Professor Natasha Howard who's an expert on Public Health said that has pros and it has columns maybe that would be a reasonable approach that challenge again with that is that. It's not really going to support economic continuation or strengthening because again if people don't know what's happening from day to day it's very hard for businesses to invest or to keep going. John Stevens is the deputy political editor at The Daily Mail and joins me now John good morning good morning picturing good morning now listen we're talking about the perhaps prematurely the lifting of the lockdown and what plans are being put in place we're looking at Spain and we're looking at France now who are slowly lifting things and Italy to allow certain sectors of the population to go back to work but we haven't heard much about planning your nerves not really have much told you say that they're going to review the look so it's now been in place for 3 weeks late today I think so Mark quite clearly said yesterday that you know it doesn't look like it's going to get stating said it's far too early to be talking about. So I think this is going to extend for now the 3 weeks but now people are starting say well if it's going to stay in place we do want to know what the eventual crime is how you are going to get us so normal and so I think most people are quite Ok with the looks I'm carrying on for now I think most people would think it was too premature with hundreds of dying every day to take or do you want to know that there is there a plan for a few weeks time or maybe they want to say the government has an idea of how they can get us out of this mess in the end and politically speaking they do need to start looking at sure they're looking at it but to start releasing some ideas. Yeah and I think people can see other countries doing this and increase pressure so it's least in their head in the current us and Spain is yesterday they let construction manufacturing workers go back to work Spain is a few. Shops and stores that So Susan's close and people can see other countries around the world it begins to shout mosque that people are increasingly leaving a house if it got most insert yesterday the government briefing there were lots of questions about what should we be doing mosque Do we have enough mosques could that be an option for us to talk about the n.h.s. Phone apps if people have coronavirus and then they can track and see where they've been in here as they've been in contact with people are all right with the measures stay in place but they do want to know that what are we going to do what can we do differently and it isn't that we can get a vaccine anytime soon for the estimate seemed to be the or same way post some and so if we are going to kind of easily do you kind of need to come up with some ideas of what energy differently I mean also you emerging as people ministers now talking about their own particular departments and and certainly we've been having a hearing am about education and the idea. Saying that schools perhaps should go back they preaching away from the general message or are they trying to change the narrative are all the ministers have got their own kind of personal concerns I think it's very costly it's cool can suddenly you know it's a credit it's got very big. Williamson is around at the weekend I'm saying the oversea people know that schools interest just at the moment it's easy for sometimes to homeschool their children than others and so if schools in any sense of a long period of time in some children could really miss out for. That parents aren't able to teach their home so I think more and more at the moment the cabinet is pretty unites but I think as we go now the next few weeks and we start what do we get rid of the lockdown starts maybe end of May I think that's when you start seeing the cracks appear that it can get if they keep following the science they should all be following the same voice shouldn't. Artist or so but then I mean nothing at the moment kind of they're worn I think the science will start to get a bit more motto. But that's something we've got a bit of a way to go you know the chief scientific officer. Said Yes that briefing was saying you know he thinks that we might see the daily death numbers start to rise so continue at that ever they are and then passed say for 2 or 3 weeks before they saw So I think we've still got a bit away yesterday we had 700 new deaths and now it's not just in hospitals without talking. And so I think actually you know we are still right in the middle of this there were a lot of people around the country losing the last ones and so you know I think we are still in a crime I want to talk to you about can hands and death some times because there's a lot of people now the comments are coming thick and phone statute about saying are we being is it borderline you lying to give us only the deaths from the hospitals because we know that care homes I know that they're they can argue that they're known confirmed but they must be away some people are suggesting the figures are at least double what we're being told yes so this is the every day we get this daily figure for how many people with current Vives died in hospital and then we have to wait a week for any Weekly that we could stick a $400.00 people have died outside of hospice so and so yes the government said well we are looking at whether we could speed up the process of counting the numbers but I think people do think that isn't transparent and thinks you are we keeping too much of an eye on just the hospital because we're not getting these daily numbers in cat homes and once it gets into care it's really easy for it to spread ever see the people in the really vulnerable you know they are people older they are people with House conditions and you know there are a lot of people with family maintained it were actually quite concerned about and you know. Overseas all for if anyone dies from Corona virus but the whole idea that you can have kind of the so few no you can't visit people who see really terrifying scream are so yeah I think. Yeah I think I am saying to my producers why I think we're going to him much more back home so going forward as we should and just just quickly Boris Johnson. We understand in check is recovering any indication of when he might come back and take the tele Well yes he was kind of he was seen strolling in the grounds which case we carry his pregnant fiance in the dock. But Number 10 are being quite tight lipped on when exactly he may come back so I think it might be several weeks before we see him backing down and see him back in charge but at the moment Number 10 certainly is not to me anyway you know he's not taking phone calls I think he did speak to. Weekend because very much rest and recuperate seen concentrating on and we've seen the cleaning vans outside number 10 and number 11 with sprays presumably to get in there and prepare it for the pm Yeah well I think I would say just because so many people in Number 10 have gone down with as I was not just the Prime Min I don't know. Exactly you know. If you all work together in a small pair were taking over the new governments but you. Knew that. You knew that this is been a real pleasure talking to you John thank you very much indeed for joining me this morning that's the deputy political editor of The Daily Mail John Stevens like I'm straight at the politics of the day I just got a text here that I want to read out is from Tammy in Gateshead and she said I echo what you say Page 3 b.b.c. Newcastle have been going. All day every day and this was just a comment really that I made that my colleagues across the country on your local radio stations have been doing an amazing.
