A big city boy Where did you live in London you live right in the city did a. You know I hadn't played much cricket since coming back from a collaboration my family started in Australia and I just came over for a quick. Enjoyed it go ahead Jonathan Cade and I spent 3 months on a cotton farm in Warren New South Wales and went to Dubbo quite a bit tell us a bit more about where you grew up and how you got into cricket warrants just a little bit further west from the town I grew up in was born in Dubbo. Even though as say I'm an Arab on boy now I'm on is a small country town bit $3000.00 people a half an hour 40 kilometers west of dubba dubba is basically the middle of New South Wales. And moved to Maryland when I was a bit to 2 and a half and lived on a. Grew up on a white farm 1200 acres shape went from a bit to 10 kilometers out of town and just grew up there from a young age I enjoyed playing sport I had a brother and a sister my brother just loved to lay and he'd never want to leave the farm with words my sister was very sporty too so sort of playing tennis when I was 7 played a little bit of competitive tennis. In attains played basketball and played quite a bit of Representative possible for the local area and and a few other things and a bit of golf when I was going through school but cricket was was my sort of mine love what age did you stop playing cricket. Aka remember playing cricket you know. All the talk growing up in the backyard played cricket there and just buying for the local club just with with your friends at school don't remember what I just started but I was no different to anyone else and even to the stage where they thought I wasn't a very good bowler. Up until the age of 15 I'd get the odd ball here they always thought I could bowl just my captain thought a coach. And finally he was too old for it to 16 so I like a little bit more of an opportunity and then I played my 1st representative game for 17 when I was 17 for the finale on it and played a bit of representative cricket just in the country area there. And then the following year I played and was called to his country Cup match on its way 39 players from New South Wales came and played for the a local town it was Dubbo versus Pops it's a major towns where I grew up and all that close it. And in out same we had great Matthews month Tyler and Steve Smith and for the opposition they had Steve small war and it was from that guy that Doug. Walters felt I had looked at potential mention me to Steve Rixon who was kept in coach of the great team in Sydney stable so played cricket for strivers week and coached Usef Wiles'. With just just the reverse swing a lot better and was hotter than the coke and there was so many positives as a ball to be using a jute ball compared to a Coke but it's just why it is I think you've got to adapt to different conditions around the world you know the quick fancy wickets up got some slow turning wickets you know England sort of slay me as same indexes and what have you so I just think you've got to get used to different pitches different conditions around the world and to be out of depth at different balls I have no issues with saw I have no issues with the Coke are being used here in astray even though the trawling the juke bowl in the chute should cricket. In England and history or culture in India so no issues with the bulls if you sometimes just actually we should use kookaburra balls in kind of cricket to prepare for actually series and that's another matter Australia is doing that to prepare for coming to mean they're also getting their players to play county cricket as well likes of Cameron Bancroft for example got a contract with Somerset I think that actually helped. A lot of us try and cricket is used to go play county cricket all in the leagues at least get used to the conditions and on help i think that helped when we toured England that doesn't happen quite as much anymore and whether that's one of the issues was a strident player that doesn't play as well overseas or why other countries these days when the tour that I said was well put. If you a playing in this current era what would you do differently in terms of training and preparation knowing what you know now you describe how you grew up in your game and how you develop to go and play at that state level and play for Australia what will you do different I don't think I do too much different. A training off the field so when I walked on the on the field on you are paid any every single While could just const try to what I wanted to achieve out there and what the team wanted to achieve so trying preparation everything I did I wouldn't change that but I've been doing a bit of coaching in India at the Emirates foundation and over the last 5 years I've learnt some much more about the technical side of ball. And so with my action as I ran in I did have a little jump into the into the the the stumps and ball it but always had a fairly strong core could hold myself and well got Todd Akin sort of fellow why pushable. So maybe that I would have done a little bit more work on just running straight through the pitch the crease a little bit more would allowed me to swing the ball a bit all maybe a little bit quicker. But by jumping in at probably ball well to the left handed. A lot of added to my repertoire going straight through the crease with the new ball getting a little bit more out swing and maybe a little bit more pace but apart from everything else kept pretty simple.
