Another thing not to sleep on here, look at these little count throughout the course of the state. This is not major vote, this is 27 votes here, 69 votes here. What this is is county after kane county after county, joe biden was chipping away, chipping away, add in the major population centers, and you have a major victory for joe biden. And jim clyburn was on tv every day from the time he endorsed up until the moments the polls closed. He was saying to voters, go out and vote, go out and vote, go out in vote. Joe biden won by a landslide. When you look at what happened after two candidates left the race, they left because of the strength of joe bidens win, the breadth of joe bidens win in South Carolina, and nay knew that that was going they knew that that was going to mean that they could not compete on super tuesday. Lets run through what the africanamerican vote was. Lets look at texas, for instance. Joe biden won 58 of the vote vote. Michael bloomberg was in second at 16 , then sanders. Blacks made up 20 of the elect electiorate there. Joe biden won 62 in South Carolina. Bernie sanders down at 17 . They made up 27 of the electorate, africanamericans did in north carolina. In virginia, joe biden won 71 of the black vote. They were 28 of those who voted. Look, africanamericans are the backbone of the Democratic Party particularly in the south. And that is exactly right. Jim clyborns endorsement changed the trajectory of the race big time. The momentum from South Carolina carried on. But you know, its also take i a look at the ideological split in states. Joe biden had been written off. Nobody expected him to win in the deep south even after support. When you look at voters who were liberal, somewhat liberal, moderates, conservatives, joe biden ran away with everybody except the very liberal. Thats a problem in terms it was the ceiling. The big winnings that sashnders got, heavy early voting. Look at california. When you took into account the momentum from South Carolina, bide hen an extraordinary biden had an extraordinary point. The people of iowa and New Hampshire do not reflect the depth and breadth and diversity of the Democratic Party. Yesterday South Carolina acted like how i would axe campaigns early on. Bernie sanders is still doing extraordinarily well. Yes, he is with latinos voters. And thats something the Democratic Party needs to Pay Attention to. Latino voters under the age of 30 overwhelmingly very Bernie Sanders. From texas. And again, this this is a problem that the Democratic Party needs to solve. How do they keep those voters engaged, keep them in the party. And something is happening on the ground with the Sanders Campaign. That is i dont know that weve, you know, black voters, they vote a block which peeps cower intact. If that continues with the latino voters, you can see the power wielded in a certain way. If Bernie Sanders has the key, whoever the nominee is is going to have to figure that out yeah. In both sides of the split. Odor voters one way, younger another way. We asked yesterday what would happen to the voters of Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, would they really go where they were being told to go. And i think we got the answer to that question. Yeah. They went. Ings that a consolidation in the voting thats a consolidation in the voting population, not just among candidates or democratic operatives. Voters are saying we want this thing to start narrowing down, and thats why you saw Elizabeth Warren not performing the way that even show expected to perform. What they know is that at this stage in the game, they there needs to be some choices being made. I think that that is what we saw in the electorate, basically saying we like you, but at the end of the day, we want to see this race narrowing down. I think both will reasset at this point if they reassess at this point if they think they are best to beat donald trump, they will make decisions cordingly. Bernie has the latino vote, you have to respect in california and texas. He has the young vote, and hes got everything west of oklahoma. All right. He says hes going to bring out this groundswell, the young folks. What happened in massachusetts . What happened in maine, neighboring state . He might lose. Young people didnt show up. Young people didnt show up. They usually dont show up. This is my concern and a moment of hope. I said this before yesterday, im going to say it today. I was at the dnc in 2016. You need a marriage between bernies base and bidens base. The establishment without pejorative. You need this marriage to beat trump. I want someone behind the scenes, i want oprah to take bernie, clinton, and biden to like like a like a bodega. Buy them like an egg mcmuffin and give everyone a car. This is a lot of metaphors. This is going to be a swell this is going to be exploited by russians, by trump. You need a marriage. Sorry, look, this is also about addition instead of division. Its what bernie hasnt made an effort to do. In 2016 he didnt rally around hillary clinton. You talk to Hillary Clintons people, theyll say that all day long. People got to look at a lower percentage of the vote in vermont than four years ago and ask themselves why. But joe biden has to show more empathy and more understanding for the pain, the agony, and the frustration of the voters that want massive institutional change and demonstrate to them that he hears that.
