Girlfriend black person friendship. Effective immediately, i am banning mr. Sterling for life. [cheers and applause] jon yes from any association with the Clippers Organization or the nba. [cheers and applause] jon wow. So much excitement out there. So much excitement out there from the entire world and even apartly the past. [ laughter ] apparently the past. Its good to see the distinction between free speech and consequence free speech. My guest is this is not the death nell for this long and proud tradition of crazy talk. If i were in charge [laughter] [cheers and applause] jon all i can say there is thank god that say hypothetical. They would know that waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists. [laughter] joan huh . That is sarah palin giving a speech where she is somehow conflating a action isment of her a sacrament of her faith with torture in order to somehow bring the fear of god to religious extremists. [ laughter ] i dont even where is that speech even appropriate at an al qaeda recruitment howto video workshop . At the yearly gathering of the dummolos or maybe shes giving one of those famed huh talks. They are like ted talks except they make no sense. Well, so ted talks. [laughter] so, what else did the former Vice President ial candidate of one of two Major National parties tell whoever it is she is talking to. Joe biden, remember this telling women before an assault just a fire warning shot until the cops show up. Just aim up in the air. That was his directive. His advice. Well fine, joe squirt gun, if your rapist is a bird. [laughter] jon she seems nice. [laughter] so i see. Well, the former Alaska Governor with a clear and quite rye reference to the well known greek myth. Zeus in the form of a swan forced himself on the yada yada Christopher Columbus discovers america and the Founding Fathers create the greatest country god has ever given to the people of earth. Well played, governor, you do read, all of them. [ laughter ] where exactly was a speech such as this appropriate . Sarah palin stirred up controversy at the nra convention. Jon o the nra convention. The National Rifle association. I believe its some sort of gentlemens Sporting Group organized in the late 19th century to promote proper marksmanship. I look forward to remarks on good hunting etiquette and weapons hygiene from the nra president the in no way undermedicated wayne la peer area. There are home innovate vaders, drug cartels, knockout gamers, rapers, haters, campus killers, airport kill yours Shopping Mall killers and killers who scheme to destroyed our country. [ laughter ] nl. Jon daddy scared. [laughter] i see the nra has changed its mission from Firearm Safety to defending the a alamo. I guess the nra believes that the thin line [laughter] i guess the nra believes the thin line between civilization and thunder dome is a armed zenry read to stand up to terrorists and for many reasons as mr. La pierre stated haters. Because as weve been told many, many times haters gonna hate. [laughter] i guess they are saying you must arm yourself against imminent physical threat. Whether theres through obamacare, redefining marriage, you name it they are coming at us. Jon thats what bleep got weird. [laughter] because at some point the perfectly acceptable support for sane gun ownership got mixed up in the whole National Culture war mess. Why would you be talking about those kinds of issues at a Gun Convention unless you think somehow guns are part of the solution to these cultural disagreements. They think government should pick your soft drink begun your vices, your Home Security system, your health insurance, your electricity source and your Childrens School as well. Jon and thats why you need a gun. Benghazi, fast and if you if furious, obamacare. Jon and that is why you need a game. The nra is like a Fortune Cookie game in bed except the answer is you need a gun. Itser hilarious game and misguided game like tennis darts. I think we need to step back and face the music. America has changed. America has changed. Were not the same country. The other side is winning. Jon thats why you need a gun. [ laughter ] here is what they missed. What the other side is winning are elections. Peaceful contests between competing viewpoints and your solution seems we immediate more electable candidates and different viewpoint and more lock and load mother bleep . And the lack of sale of wearness, you know, the lack of self awareness that aint helping. They like to paint us as paranoid bitter people. No, no. We asked you to paint us a self portrait and this is what you came up with. [ laughter ] maybe we would find your mission less paranoid if the vision of the world you present resembled in anyway the world. Gun sales last year were up nationwide and 30 new progun laws have been passed just this year. Jon and its only april. And may is national continued to loosen any and all gun restrictions month. bleep hallmark. Look what they just did a few days ago in georgia. Governor nathan deal signed the safe carry protection act of 2014. Jon the safe carry protection act. Its not bad. Got the word safe and protection in it. Sounds okay. Critics are calling it the Guns Everywhere law. [ laughter ] jon that sounds worse. [laughter] just out of curiosity will where will this safe carrying take place . When the law goes into law firearms will be allowed in unsecured public buildings like library and Recreational Centers and parts of airports that lie outside security checkpoints. Jon why would you take a gun to the airport . Trying to get the attention of the person you are picking up. Its over here aunt patty. Patty over here [laughter] we gotta wait for luggage. All right. Thats hardly Guns Everywhere. They can be brought into bars and house of worship, teachers and School Officials can carry their guns into classrooms so long as the district allows it. Jon classrooms. Its not just gun rights its education reform. [ laughter ] yeah, hey you want to come up here and solve six times nine . Do you, punk . [laughter] do you . [laughter] dont worry even georgias deeply conservative legislature put some common sensory strives about where common sense restrictions where guns can not go. There are restrictions on where guns are not allowed the state capital yonch booya one of only places georgias legislatures didnt allow guns is in the building where they work. They are the voyeurs at the orgy, yall go on and do what you do, we just like to amazing ive been claritin clear for 6 days. Jon welcome back the nra is not the only organization speaking up for innocent gun owners. Jordan klepper is out there researching another group that has their interest in mind. As stand your ground laws proliferate across the country and self defense shootings make headlines people are beginning to speak up about the heartbreaking damages these events cause. Who will speak for the real victims, the shooters . After shooting its tragic when someone is forced to spend thousands of dollars or tens of thousands of dollars to pay the legal bills to deal with the trial. Gun rights advocate jim irvine is speaking about out the high cost of shooting people. The Civil Defense after a shooting can destroy families. Financially . Financially. Thankfully ken ciewch nelly the former nominee for Virginia Governor has a much needed solution. For a low monthly cost if you are charged with offenses when you are a legal gun owner well be your lawyer. If a serious incident happens well be there to defend you. By incident you mean shooting swb . Were somebody. Were there to protect our clients after that happens. How much does this plan cost . One person can get it as low as less than 10 a month. Prices like that you cant afford not to shoot anyone. God bless you, cuch. He is not the only one. Services are popping up all over the country. Some think theres a dangerous flaw with the plans. The problem is not enough people sign up for the plans the risk pool is going to be too small. You need to have individuals with lower risks so that you can bring down the cost for all participants. You cant just have a bunch of clients with preexisting intentions to kill someone . Yeah, that would make things more risky for the firm. In a cruel twist of fate Ken Cucinelli faces the problem as as the Health Care Reform he pledged to stop. Where obamacare needs the young and healthy. , his plan needs those who dont cons stantsly fant fantasize about shooting people. Can i talk to you about shooting people, wherever they were. Boom, im an attacker. I like your response. You didnt pull a gun out which means you are low risk and you are a perfect candidate. I have somewhere to be. [laughter] oh, my god. Im a home invader. Everybody has time to think about the future in case they shoot someone in the future. Get out of here i said. All right. Thank you. Can i help you. Do you fantasize about shooting people . No, do you have 8 a month . Yes. I would love to come in. You run into this person on the street what are you going to do . Freeze. You are going to shoot. This guy . He looks nice why would i shoot him. The fact that you dont want to shoot someone makes you the perfect candidate for insurance for shooting someone. I cant shoot someone. I dont have a gun. You dont have a gun . No. His failed. His to warn cucinelli. This is the exact same challenge obamacare is facing. We like the constitution. Theres a major difference in the two there. Theres a big difference. Do you think he will move on to another issue like protecting people who are sick from going bankrupt . I think we would probably move on to protecting gun owners in maryland and North Carolina in addition to virginia. Of course, im sorry, theres still states out there where people cant afford to shoot other people. Its a situation were very concerned about. So rest well, america. Its getting safer to shoot every day. Its getting safer to shoot every day. Jon jordan brewed for more this ispirited nights. Tune. Its undistilled, yet it has a smooth clean finish. You might choose a regular beer, but then you might get a regular night. Miller fortune. Your fortune awaits. Thats why i got a new windows 2 in 1. Honestly i wanna see you be brave but theres a hint of sweetness, too. [ woman clearing throat ] it must be the apples. I concur. The new chicken apple sausage sandwich from dunkin, made with real apples and spices, your morning just got a lot more flavorful. Pepsi wild cherry. Explosively cherry. Which will cause me to miss the end of the game. The x1 entertainment operating system lets your watch live tv anywhere. Can i watch it in Butterfly Valley . Sure. Can i watch it in glimmering lake . Yep. Here, too. What about the dark castle . You call that defense . come on [ female announcer ] watch live tv anywhere. The x1 entertainment operating system, only from xfinity. [cheers and applause] jon welcome back. My guest tonight best selling author his new book is called the price of silence. The duke lacrosse scandal the power of elite and the corruption of our brought universities. William cohan, please come on out here. [cheers and applause] all right. Okay. Jon we dont have a ton of time so were going to get right to it. What do you want deal with first is in the duke lacrosse scandal, the power of the elite or the corruption of our great universities . Well, i mean they all go together. Thats the point of the book is that they do all go together in ways that, you know, we may not have anticipated when we send our kids off to college thinking they are going to get a great education. Jon is that though just reflective after this divide in society as a whole. This idea duke is an enclave of more wealth and more privilege than its surroundinging town. Is it nt a microcosm of a larger issue in the country . Theres no question that Ncaa Division i athletes are put on a pedestal in this country. And theres no question were dealing in realtime. We have the Northwestern UniversityFootball Team thinking about unionizing and incredibly some of the alum high in are saying maybe you dont want to do. That the winston story at florida state. Whether or not that investigation was botched or not. Incidentsincidents at vanderbile naval academy. They are happening all around the country. Jon arent they also happening outside we cant assume that Sexual Assault or in this case they were exonerated but that these types of activities are somehow relegated to the universities. Its a problem in society. As most problems are. Universities are merely a microcosm, if i may use that word. Jon yeah. Of larger issues in society. Why this became such an amazing story. I mean really its unprecedented in its scale and the Media Attention it focused. These kids just thought well have a party where well just drink all day. There might be underage drinking going on and have a great idea of inviting strippers to come to our house instead of going to a strip club which we usually do and next thing we know their lives up upset for certainly the next 15 ms. Of this situation before they were declared innocent by the stoarnlg of state of North Carolina attorney general of the state of North Carolina but their lives are effected for the rest of lives. Jon its so tailor made for what our media enjoys more than anything sensationalized conflict. White kids richer kids at a privileged university, a woman of lesser privilege. This is the perfect storm for them in terms of generating something. Unfortunately it didnt work out for them in that she was not a particularly good ex perks exemplar of david and go liage. Nobody was a hero here. It was a way of justis sub vertd. Elizabeth warren were talking about how money and power control washington. We know because i wrote the book about Goldman Sachs because i wrote that book on controlling wall street. We now money and power can often subvert justice. Jon is this a good case . I would agree with that money and power can subvert justice. We have atwo tier system. Young minority goes to jail far more frequently and for far longer than they sudden. But is this the best example of that particular corrosion in our society . It may be one of few examples of that particular corrosion in our society. Three kids indicted. The woman who accused them of rape and Sexual Assault she proved to be a less than reliable witness. The district attorney, believed her, the nurse that examined her and the fleece investigated. There was never a trial. He was brought up on charges before the state bar. He was never allowed to bring this case to trial because its defense who did an incredible job, they were able to exploit every one of his mistakes of which there were many. This is not the way the Justice System was supposed to work. Jon thats my point. If he had not made so many mistakes. If she was a more credible witness. If there was physical evidence that matched her story and then they got off based on a subversion of justice by a powerful defense team, i think would you have one of those Matthew Mcconaughey at the end now imagine shes black. That kind of endinging. This doesnt seem to be that case. I dont want to relitigate it. Its not as sim as you say sim as you say. Jon generally my point. Only 600 pages. Jon exactly. There was evidence that the defense doesnt like to talk about that raises questions about what happened in that bathroom. I mean clearly there was not a rape because that rape charged was dropped but something happened in that bathroom to make Crystal Mangum the victim accuser have this post Traumatic Stress incident where they thought this happened to her. There was dna evidence on finger nails that defense doesnt like to talk about. Given the store i evident doesnt match that. It matched something but not that. Didnt match what she first said theres no question about that. Jon what is more interesting is the largest point of cultural institutions trying to balance education and the financial aspect of sport and those things. Can you stick around . Price of silence is on the bookshelves now. Gigantic, gigantic, gigantic a big, big love gigantic, gigantic, gigantic a big, big love fatthe fire of 1880 g at the baccouldnt stop us. Nor did prohibition in the 1920s. Or exile from our home country in the 60s. The bacardi family didnt just survive, we thrived. Because true passion cant be tamed. Turn to bud light platinum, the next generation of smooth. Brewed with topshelf ingredients for a bold, slightly sweet finish. Yeah you always make me go. [ male announcer ] turn up your night, and make it platinum. Jon thats our show. Here it is your moment of zen. Gun stores are an accomplice to crime and stephen tonight, a longoverdue honor for a president. Could the Lincoln Memorial be getting a chilis, too . Then americas prisoners get good news. Just dont ask how that news was smuggled in. And my guest, director robert rodriguez, has launched a new latinofocused cable network. Ill ask how gigante his sabdos will be. There is a security flaw in Internet Explorer which is terrible news for anybody living in 1995
