Research. The announcement was made during a News Conference on findings of nasa headquarters in washington d. C. Hello and welcome. We are here today at nasa headquarters in washington d. C. For a press briefing on a report from independent study team on unidentified anomalous phenomena. We have four speakers here today. We have built nelson our nasa administrator. Foxy administrator for the Science Mission director. Dan evans assistant deputy associate administrator for Research Within the science directorate and david is the president of the simonson foundation and also the chair of this particular independent study team. I will ask everyone in the room to please silence your cell phones. We will get started with everyone getting a few opening remarks. Then we will take questions both in the room and then from the phones. For now i will hand it over to the administrator. Thanks so much and thanks for coming today. Nasa searches for the unknown in air and space. It is in our dna. From digging on mars with the perseverance rover on those little titanium tubes that we intend to go back and pick up. Digging and the dry lake bed near the mouth of a river. Now we are going up to the top of the cliff where the scientists feel there could be the best examples of if there were life there millions of years ago. Whether we are dealing with perseverance for the James Webb Space Telescope which services for xl planets with signs of ability. We are looking for signs of life past and present. It is in our dna to explore. And to ask why things are the way they are. In june of last year nasa Commission Independent study team to examine unidentified anomalous phenomena. We did so with the few goals in mind. First to examine how nasa can use our expertise and instruments to study uap from a scientific perspective. Second, shift the conversation about uap from sensationalism to science. And to make sure whatever we find or whatever we recommend to make sure that information is shared transparently around the world. There is a global fascination with uap. On my travels one of the first questions i often get is about these sightings. Much of that fascination is due to the unknown nature of it. Think about it. Most uap sightings result in very limited data. That makes it even more difficult to draw scientific conclusions about the nature of uap. This independent study team brought together some the worlds leading scientists, data and Artificial Intelligence experts. Aerospace Safety Specialists all with a specific charge from me which is to tell how to apply the full focus of the science and data to uap. This is the first time nasa has taken concrete action to seriously look at uap. This independent study team was just that independent. Now nasa has a Statutory Authority to look for life in the universe. And when you think of the universe and especially what we have learned from the James Webb Space Telescope, how vast that it is we knew before and as a nasa scientist who got the no bill that determined the universe was 13. 8 billion years old. And over the years a particularlyaccelerated in the y we have an understanding that of course ours is not the only galaxy. There are billions and billions of galaxies. And each of those galaxies including our own have a billions and billions of stars. And with the james webb looking at the xl planets we are now beginning to discover and somewhere out there we will discover another medium size stony planet around a medium sized son or star. At just the right distance. Not too far, not to close with h the tilt access that rotates. That hasnt carbon. That will have a habitable atmosphere. If you ask me do i believe there is life in the universe that is so vast that it is hard for me too comprehend how big it is, my personal answer is yes. But i asked some of our scientists as a matter of fact the Washington Post Editorial Board asked us to come down. What is the mathematical probability that there is life out there in the universe . And if you calculate and billions of stars and billions of galaxies that there is a replicated as i said another stony planet. The answer was what was the likelihood . At least a trillion. That is from our scientists. So we start this without any preconceived notions. Understanding we are in a world of discovery. We had taken, we come nasa had taken concrete action to seriously look into uap. This independent study team is exactly that it is independent. They work to develop recommendations about how nasa could better examine them from a scientific perspective. The top take away from the study is there is a lot more to learn. Nasa independent study team did not find any evidence uap have an extraterrestrial origin. But we do not know what that you apr. That is why i am announcing nasa has appointed a nasa director of uap research. They are being tasked with developing and overseeing the implementation of nasas vision for uap research. We will use nasas expertise to work with other agencies to analyze uap. We will use ai and Machine Learning to search the skies for anomalies as we have been searching the heavens and will continue to search the heavens for habitability. Nasa will do this transparently. So while today is a significant step with nasa it is the final step we are going to share more with you i am going to introduce you to doctor nikki fox who is the head of our Science Mission directory. Nikki . Good morning and thank you so much administrator nelson. Its always tough to follow bill he is such a great speaker. I want to thank the independent study team for their Amazing Service on the study and for their continued contributions for the advancement of our nations understanding of unidentified anomalous phenomena. As bill eloquently said uap is one of the greatest mysteries. Its due to the limited number of high quality data that surrounds such incidents often d often renders them unidentifiable. There are numerous eyewitness accounts and visuals associated they are not consistent. They are not detailed and they are not curated observations that can be used to make definitive scientific conclusions about the nature and the origin of uap. The language of scientist is data. Data points toward the scientific conclusion to what the nature and the origin of uap could be. That leads us to why we are here today. The independent study teams report is now public it can be found at science. Nasa. Gov uap. While nasa is still working to evaluate the report and to assess the independent study team finding and recommendations nasa is committed to contributing to the federal government unified uap effort and as you heard we have appointed a director of uap research. And their role they will centralize communication, resources and data and political capabilities across the federal government to establish a robust database for any future data. Additionally our director of uap research will also leverage nasas expertise and Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning and spacebased observation tools that will support and enhance the governor initiatives into uap. They will serve as nasas point of contact for Government Entities but especially for the anomaly resolution. This will ensure coordinated effort and communication channels. Uap Research Nasa will also citizen reporting with the commercial and public pilots a broader set of data judge the vast data mart related data sets for future uap incidents but to also contribute to the de stigmatization of the important studies of uaps. And with that it is my great pleasure to hand over to doctor dan adams who is the nasa official responsible for supporting this amazing study. Good morning. I would like to begin by expressing my sincere thanks to nasa administrator bill nelson for directing this study. Wait, at nasa believe the understanding uap is vital for several reasons. First and foremost a provides an opportunity for us to expand our understanding of the world around us. At nasa we are committed to charging the uncharted. This work aligns with who we are. Secondly the study aim the presence of uap raises serious concerns about the safety of our skies it is this nations obligation to determine whether the phenomena post any risk to safety let us not forget the first day and nasa is aeronautics. By understanding uap we can ensure our skies admitted demonstratednelson directed us t together an independent and external team of world leading experts to produce a report containing a roadmap with a series of recommendations describe how nasa can best help the cross government response to uap. Months of factfinding cross disciplinary and scientific rigor gave the Team Insights that will greatly enhance our nations understanding of uap going forward. The kings report now available on nasa website stands as a testament to nasa and the Team Commitment to transparency. To the power of science we and nasa believe setting uap represents an exciting step forward with the mysteries of the world around us. Scientific lengths to ensure our evidencebased openness we have aimed to foster trust in collaboration with the public. I would like to conclude an incredible dedication and service the efforts have been instrumental. I truly appreciate the expertise and commitment that each of them have brought to this endeavor paired with that i will pass over to doctor david the future study. First and foremost i would like to extend our sincere gratitude. Entrusting up that the pivotal study. Their faith in our capabilities has been a driving or spine the panels approach. The conference of study into a unidentified anomalous phenomena like to elucidate on the methodology we began by rigorously the uap data. Our goal but to understand the nature of the reports. Our goal was produce a roadmap for nasa to contribute to the understanding of the events. We looked at nasas assets. While they provide a comprehensive picture of the ocean first uap events they can complement other data. Has limited to a limited sample of events unlimited data both to civilian and military when others missing data paid for its analysis and other areas nasa always takes a scientific approach of systematic Data Collection that involves calibrating instruments multiple measurements and ensuring data. Lack this quality of data. Broader effort once we have a large sample of characterized events likely prove helpful it is essential to clarify based on a current finding of it methodology. We find no evidence or purpose and understanding previous work has shown most events are explainable as claims, balloons, drones, weather phenomenon instrument features. Search for interesting anomalies. The first step is to eliminate of conventional events before moving onto identifying novel phenomenon. In the publics role cannot be overstated. Crowdsourcing and possibly be a smart phone applications to capture a broader spectrum of data. Ensuring more eyes and ears on the ground. Uap presents the panel believes other insights into potential safety risk and reduce the stigma associated with the pilot supporting anomalies in conclusion collaborative efforts, public engagement, it can be a key player in the whole of government approach to understanding uap. Thank you. We will start taking questions. For those in room we have a microphone over here we would ask you to speak into every would also be alternating to its star went on to the queue but of zaragoza. And as how could make the determination of what something isnt when we dont know what it is. Lets determine from the nonhuman intelligence. You identify yourself please . Whats james fox thank you. What outlet . Whats independent media. Thank you. Let me repeat what i said. I can support here this word for word. Did not find any that uap hasnt extra trestle origin. The mission of massas to find out the unknown. I have said several times in my comments here today that we at nasa deal openly. We will be transparent on this. There are so much concern there is something locked up classified. Not being open. We are the American Government and we are open we are going to be open about this. We dont come again im going to repeat that statement. We dont know but the uap are. But we are going to try to find out. Thank you very much and is there a plan in place if it is determined some represent or originate from a nonhuman intelligence to tell if public s there a plan . If we are what i said we intend to be which is a transparent, you bet your boots. We will say that. I have tried to set the table for you by telling you what i personally believe in the universe that is so vast. Could there be a replication of life on earth elsewhere in another solar system the distance distances light years but whatever we find we are going to tell you. X please identify yourself. For any of the other panelists. Uap research of you name someone to that role . What kind of investment are you considering making is going to be a Program Office have you thought of funding et cetera. Yes we have it. We have already appointed they have been working there for a while now. During the study to up the point of contact. And with any budget discussions are a part of a very intricate federal budget request. Its not something weve discussed openly. We will certainly look to see what needs to be allocated. Cant name the official . Will not give his name out. Message of highs near the people this is no longer a prank and that you want to be left out and that you will take them seriously. That is exactly the message in an si, yes we love data and all data other something that needs to be reported and wouldnt want people to be able to feel like they can report that and we have spoken in the open hearing, that we had here just few months ago, may 31st. Actually talk to them about that we wanted to remove the stigma we also did not tolerate any of the abuse that some of our members of the panel receipt of receiving taking on social media for doing this really important Scientific Study and so absolutely, we want pilots in both private pilots and commercial pilots military pilots to see if it is something that they need to report. What you say and on repeat that the way that i cited that we want to shift the conversation about uneps from sensationalism, to science. I think of this in terms of the size of ec around for security if you see something, Say Something i think in this context, we would summarize as if you see something, collect highquality data onto because and we can learn. If i may, to make into the report incident is one that was kicked out and that is been as a very credible citing that you be pouring down on it and can you talk about his singable we look at that is one example that i think that this is something that arrows did a good job of going through the events in most events are going to turn out even as some in the end of the turn out to be something novel was most events will turn out to be conventional things, balloons, airplanes someone. I think that the process of discovery as looking for a needle in a haystack. And if you want to find a needle in the haystack, you have two choices, either, you know exactly what the needle looks like, and you design a very good filter to look for the needle, so mass filtering. Or, you dont know what youre looking for with anomalies, that is really the case youre looking things that we dont understand. So we want to point to something strange in a haystack, you better know exactly what the hey looks like. And you better be able to characterize it and that is why in the process like this and this is something that i think that we bring to this as we look for anomalies is that you need to know what typical regular things look like under all conditions and you need to know what balloons look like when the pilots see them and so under initial clinician so that you can eliminate that make those events that is why it is a fine anomalies, and understanding the normal, there is a very important part of it and understanding that under different observing conditions. Collecting data in a uniform way. This is what we do, when we study anomalies and Space Science or other areas of science what we try to do is to bring this approach to this field by saying because highquality data and understand the normal events that is how we move things forward. Thank you; onto the next question please. Hello, i from abc news just a followup in the stigma, the questions that uap that term, is been used in destigmatize susan most people use ufos north of the American Public and most of the world uses that term so much as the stigma still a problem for you and what you practically doing about is really to convince people in my second question is in your report i noticed that you said a i is an essential tool for identifying occurrences and yesterday were this pai seven we had 100 senators with all of the Mark Zuckerberg and others and speaking of some they said we are concerned about a i we needed to be regulated is so does that concern you are you worried that it might enter your work in thank you very much. While two big questions, first of all, do i personally believe that a. I. Needs to be or have boundaries in the answer to that is extended and connected to show literalism yes thank you do that, within the appropriate valves so that as i said in my remarks, then we will utilize a. I. Is one of the tools as we search for what is an answer to the uap. As of now, i dont think that any attempts, that the congress has underway to try to write a law that would appropriately put a guardrail around a i for other reasons and is in a new way, going to inhibit us from utilizing the tools of a. I. To help us in our quest on this specific issue. It was here the question. Just you see stigmatized doublethink reason are you calling uap but people prefer that my. Yes, well you know theres mindset and we all are entertained by Indiana Jones and in the amazon in fighting the crystal skull. So there is a lot of floor out there, folklore and thats why we entered the stage from the arena, to try to get into this from a signs point. Think you can like the xfiles for this. [laughter] god possibly as well but just remember what i said, we nasa, trying to shift it from sensationalism to science. Thank you very much to redo the line the river they want to give a couple of chances to some people on the phone so i will go to the funds for our first question there and please do introduce yourself fancy question. Can you hear me. My first question is for marsha done with the Associated Press in your line is open. Si, marsha done ap, already receiving emails area 51, in roswell so i would like to ask mr. Startle the heavens for you and your fellow Panel Members bombarded by this sort of thing during the course of your study. Vanessa, are you not naming the director of uap research for this for reasons of the not hassled bombarded by the element. Thank you. I was price of the emails and suites and might there be some people honestly are curious about things that theyve seen never you know, the things that are hard to respond to like my uncle, who is dead saw something strange you have to reported is not useful but is harmless and on the other had one of the things that happened during the study from this may be part of the bigger discussion of cultural behavior and social media. Where people behave badly and i would say harassed some of our Panel Members. That i thank you so very inappropriate behavior that one does not do not want to see and sadly i think that is part of the people problem when people somehow feel bad in on social media they can be nasty and weak and sadly some of our Panel Members have experience that. I like to say that not only were some of the things that are Panel Members received during the course of the study, simple trolling, some of them actually rose to actual threats and as a result we take this entity scientific process in the security and safety of her team we thank you so extremely seriously in part, thats why we are not slashing the name of our new director out there. Because science needs to be be free and to undergo a real and rigorous in a rational process and you need the freedom of sorts to be able to do that and some of the threats Christmas Event beyond the pale frankly from summer our panel is it its importance for the science to be free as part of that process you. Thank you so much we will go to another question on the phone please please go ahead and introduce yourself. Next question comes from comfort with sky news london in your line is open. Oh hi there and thank you very much for taking my question. I want to understand how much an idea of money but how Many Research programs will be devoted to this by the administration and it strikes me that although the argument for the safety is clear. There are other departments and agencies responsible response that particular thing and as we conclude the developing extraterrestrial explanations or truly for this phenomena is very small, shouldnt now stock devote is Research Budget in the first as much more likely intangible signs of extraterrestrial life and other planet detection. Yes thank you for the question and so yes, although we do not discuss budget openly, we are committed to supporting the whole of government study into uap. Over data in effect if you look at the report from you will see a large background material and supplemental material in their because we literally released everything because thats what we do vanessa. We do have rp agency goals we have our roles in Science Mission director and things that we follow in one of those administrative described as the search for life elsewhere. We do that describe the research dutifully. Hes actually going for my job actually describe the research so well that we need to find is iraqi planted around hospitable star that is not to violence and just the right place in a signatures of water and carbon because of the blocks of life we continue to strive to do that we do that with telescope and will do that when we launch the nancy gross grace and it would draft their love and light delivering start really let us look at those possible planets beyond that, the next big telescope recommended by is the habitable worlds and actually mission designed to look for hospitable and signs like 2. 0 and another solar system and so the really hard in the forefront of her goals and sso think you for so much for the question. Will be jeopardy clarify. Will you be devoting any need for new Resources Research projects given that is where the interesting questions really are should be spent or should now suspend time budget with much less likely targets finding life and small objects in the atmosphere. Most of our instruments are designed it to look for the phenomenon that we study in elsa. If any of our data is useful or applicable we absolutely will be devoting that turning that over through to the rest of the whole of the governments approach. We are not at this time fighting to design a mission to do this. That is not part of our overarching nasa direction. We are looking at providing some Research Support so if somebody wants to write a research proposal, then we will put it through the right channels we will be looking for ways to do that we also talked about supporting serve the Citizens Science and the broader like repository of data. Would you like to add to that. Nasas data are free and publicly accessible to the entire world to download and weak writer selves on the fact in this openness of data and our approach is why we are all here today. And specific question about the Research Budget to potentially truly interesting ones but i think as david said, you have to understand the chaff in order to understand and pinpoint the potentially interesting ones okay. So were in such a data port of regime at the moment that we need to turn it into a data rich blood to do that and we employed now says assets and many other parts of nasa assets as well in that quest. And as you question suggest and i do know that it does would suggest the nassau keep his nose out of this, well let me tell you nasa is not a place that is going to hide his head in the sand. Now is there interest this phenomenon and other agencies. In my previous life in the senate, i was privy to talk to the navy pilots and a seat the video where they encountered the coast of california in 2004. That was in a classified setting, then. But this is now. And you have now seen that video and you have heard from those former navy pilots. Is that of a concern to the department of defense and of course it is. Therefore, we will continue our search from a scientific view and is going to be if those other agencies continue their search, will going to be glad to join in with them but our stuff is going to be open. Grade i will take one more question we go back to the floor and i will we have a lot of questions that im going to hopefully stick to one person in seo many of that we can get through and so one more from the phone please. My next question jeff else with space news and your line is open. Hi, dino states that nasa is still evaluating the study teams report and its recommendations is that the plan to publish a formal response to the according insert nations to so promote timeline can we expect to see that. So to give you a quick pretty about how this works and so we only very recently received a report on what you have seen today in press relief represent our initial actions in recognition of the urgency of this matter and yes we will be following up as appropriate with additional action steps to recommendations and act on them. The budget many other priorities will be announcing more in the future so i think you back to the roof identify yourself. Good morning digital and we were talking a lot about from sensationalism to science today, has nasa been in touch with the mexican authorities about the other sensational revelations of this week to allegedly nonhuman corpses and what of any importance to you attached to these discovery. I think david has the answer that one. Well, this is something that i know ive only seen on twitter. When you have unusual things, you want me data puzzles and i think of this is like nasa is one of the most valuable samples from outer space rocks, make them available to any scientists who want to work on them. We dont know the nature of those samples that we were shown. If i was the mexican government, i would make recommendations over that is not our church were doing this for nasa my recommendation was that if you set up something strange, make samples available to the World Scientific community and we will see what is there. I will just added that one of the main goals that try to do today is to move conjecture and conspiracy towards science insanity and you do that with data as david says that is the whole purpose of the study. Thank you. Hi, im from the scope and thank you for doing this actually have two lines questions of business okay, first from ms. Foxwell what is the timeline and immediate action that nasa is doing specifically with arrow and other the report has been conceded about mechanisms are nasa and the baby really to share information and collaborate sincerely do you see more coming up separately, for mr. Struggle, i noticed in the final report, a lot of the images media never added from the delian snapshot that we create under previously the dod data not mr. Messier if anything from other agencies thank you. Amy why that is. What are you use beyond it to inform your reports unless you guys. Sure. So yes, armenia actually there was such a lot of the questions. Living many actions, we establish the directors uap research and working across the whole of government working closely with arrow. Therefore the essential point for all of the collaborations are not sure else you have some sorry. Mechanisms are you using your data and information which went within the debarment. Ultimate all mechanisms available to us is eloquence he, all of her date as openly and publican actually we share everything with everybody so that everybody can access our nasa date is like a specific repository channels with the dod that your share information like he spent a little bit on how arrow nasa working so deeply disturbing. Yes some having him about so all of nasas data is open and accessible to the public and if dmv on a specific instance needs to have our expertise, there are secure ways of doing this and by appointing the Liaison Officer went on how to talk to the unity classified space the bus will be give, is unclassified for good reason. Arrow is the lead agency in the government so faa report events good air row and so there is a Central Collection Agency and they actually go to the euro site because they have a pretty complete list of things theyve analyzed and training public. Arrow, this is just something i thank you so worth repeating in the context of looking at images that come from military satellites and intelligence communities coming is important to remember the things are images taken by military instruments across our classified not because of what is in the image, but because of the nature of measurement and i think that this is one of the unique things that nasa brings here is that nasa is about openness and transparency in nasa polemic measurements nasa Wellness Program is making this all available and of course not making measurements of classified instruments, and enables her to do this one of the things vanessa brings to the space. And overly quick verification because they supported, that nasa and arrow liaison is unofficial the same as you knew uap head of research. Yes. Thank you cannot write one more we go back to the found for a couple. Thank you, jacob jensen danish newspaper and find question is for mr. Nelson. You set the beginning of the meeting that nasa will be transparent will a month and a half ago, mr. David welch said under oath in congress, the u. S. Government is in possession of extraterrestrial life annuities and how can you be sure nasa than other parts of the u. S. Government is being transparent. I dont speak for other parts of the government. But i can tell you that nasa which i do. Reporter is open and transparent with our data do you believe what david said resealing. You would want me to give a personal opinion. Yes please. Of what he said and what he said if i as i recall is having seen this on the nightly news is that he had front that new wary warehouse was that had a ufo, locked up in a warehouse and he also said that he had another friend that said that he had parts of an alien. Whatever he said, was the evidence and thats my response. We also that did interview over 40 employees at the pentagon. Will long time ago there was a tv show, jack friday and he used to say, just the facts, show me the evidence. Thank you right we will go to the phones and again another people have lots of questions and im going to try to keep this just to one for each person is our next person on the phone, go ahead and introduce yourself. Next question with abc news, your line is open. This is senator nelson, your part mentioned that a. I. To be very useful in helping in this investigation and how you see that. Well why limit us in anything. Interpretation of data. Nai is just coming on the scene to be explored in all areas so why should we limit any technological tool in analyzing data that we have. And i said a. I. Was one of the things that we were going to employ. We actually use a. I. And Machine Learning throughout nasa science hopefully is an amazing tool up actually find signatures that are buried data in their just wiggly lines and sometimes you see the wiggles and you miss a signal using Artificial Intelligence, we can often find signatures from an example weve had to be able to find signatures in super storms using very old data that really is before sort of like routine scientifics satellite data and is amazing. As of just being able to use those technics, often will allow us to find things to actually find the needle in his david so eloquently said the once youve actually really well also helps us to really characterize the head and so you can start subtracting hey look for the needles behind. Let me just take this moment to try to demystify it. [laughter] thank you. When a scientist, many of you nice overturning to this and have data indicative negro graph and he drew a line through it and dated two dimensions, x and y right now, much of our data is much higher dimensional space in your working with Something Like chap gdp, makes enough dimensional space of language. Tokens if you want to get technical with 12000 tokens in the chat cici gdp five for example Machine Learning, is a powerful tool representing functions five dimensional space that we get to work with data in five dimensional space nai is very powerful but is no more powerful than the data you get some way that we have this is why this very powerful and with nasas whether medina an incredible amount of data and data you want to do more with online on the graph and you want to extract all that information and more information at five dimensional space i think shes really discovery, the power of that tool is one of the tools vanessa and just a scientist but i think a lot of people are in a lot of Different Industries are using to learn new things five dimensional data. And always comes back to the data feed into the analysis with ursuline on wax paper for high dimensional space with Machine Learning and if you dont have good data not going to learn things. Hi dimensional does not mean high space dimensions and into dimensional travel talking about multiple parameters here okay. And rated we are critical to time to get to more questions and we will do one of the phone one more in the room and hopefully if we keep our answers and questions short will get to those two for anybody else had a chance to ask a question youre more than welcome to send an email with try to get you questions and answered as quickly as possible. I am curious how youre going to do that. Without faith through commercial contracts or ask for voluntary reporting . And also, you talk a lot about the importance of harmonizing there is no harmonization between the way the census works. That would be the same for the use of commercial assets. How does that use of commercial assets with the harmonization that you talk about . And he is who is paying for all this . Thank you. Might say a little bit about crowdsourcing much of what we have in mind is taken advantage of the fact several billion of these floating around. Im holding up a cell phone. They take high Quality Images and metadata, record local magnetic field, sound, gravitational. There is a wealth of data with a cell phone. You can imagine designing apps that make the images relatively tamper free. You can make it hard to do. And i have a collection what or corrected by citizens, if you you havemultiple images of the e event. One other thing nasa supports is citizens. I think the idea of you see something you do not understand. Collect data we aggregate the data and learn from it. Its important in this context and in some ways an opportunity to engage the broader public in science. Great, our last question from the floor prefix thank you. First question is you describe harassment of some of the panelists. All that horrible and never a good thing, i just sort of come with the nature of public officials. Mr. Nelson as a senator lawmakers get that kind of thing all of the time. Is that justification for keeping this new position of research . Why do you plan on doing that forever . Is that a temporary thing . It seems to cut again the dedication to being open and transparent at this person forever is not going to be revealed or the they are. Yes at the time we are withholding that name. Lets not forget we have only just received this report. And what we need to do now as an agencys come together and find a cohesive and coherent response to it that address of multiple findings and recommendations but we are only announcing initial actions today. What a persons name be disclosed to your specific question . Potentially yes. We need to ensure the scientific process is free that is my response. Just lastly the reports as you rely on unclassified material given a very understandable description for why the dod classifies certain images and videos. Why did you not all have access to classified material . Could you have done that . And so, just to understand that but the committee speak for themselves. Love the reasons we restricted ourselves to unclassified data is because we can speak openly about it. And in so doing we are aiming again to alter the discourse from sensationalism as administrator nelson beautifully said. Nasa personnel as appropriate know on the classified basis. What the purpose of this study was to tell us what open data we could use in combination with the power of science to move our understanding forward. That was a purpose and were speaking about it. Im afraid we get the wrap up. We are at times so thank you everybody for being here today. Again for those people are not able to questions i do apologize for not being in the room. However please send an email based on our press release. You have information to access we will try to get you the answers we can. With that we are concluding todays press briefing and thank you very much for being here. [applause] is a healthy democracy does not just look like this. It looks like this.
