Igniting hearts and minds. And thats what we like to think were doing with our publishing program. Well, some very well known people are publishing this fall with beacon. Tell us about some of your books. Well, were very proud to have back with us cornel west whose first book, race matters, was published by beacon 20 years ago and who has become a rather famous leader in the field of black prophetic fire and whos writing this book about this very important part of our culture. And hes looking at many of the great figures in the black prophetic tradition in america. And one of them is Martin Luther king jr. , of course. So hes also edited a book for us called the radical king. Because we are the exclusive trade publishers of all of kings work and have been for the last phi years. Five years. So all of kings work for the trade, for general readers, general bookstores is published by beacon press which im very proud of. And this new edition which was curated entirely by cornell west is looking at king to say over the years we have kind of, we have Santa Clausif be ified Martin Luther king jr. But he was a radical, he had radical ideas, and he wanted to change things in a very dramatic way in america, and, of course, he did in profound ways. So this book restores the radical king. Im very proud of that. And then were working with cornell on a brand new book called Justice Matters which will be out in 2015 and looks not only at racial equality issues in america, but including lgbt justice, including economic justice, including immigrant rights, all kinds of issues which are so important in america today. So were happy to have cornell back, and thats really very important to us. And then we also have publishing books by ronny [inaudible] and sheryll cashin. Now, sheryll cashin, her book, place, not race, just came out. Shes a very well known black legal scholar, and she is looking at opportunity and injustice in america through the lens of place and that, of course, means class. It implies class. Where people live and what opportunities their place of residence gives them or doesnt or doesnt allow them. So thats one look at it. And then her colleague as a black legal scholar, lonnie [inaudible] is looking at the meritocracy and the inequities we have in American Society in judging merit. Its testbased, so lani is questioning what is it that we use to measure who has merit, who gets to go to the elite colleges, who gets all the opportunity in america . So these two women looking at different aspects of justice in america with powerful, powerful books that were really proud of. Very quick look at some of the books coming up by beacon press in the fall of 2014. This is booktv on cspan2.
