Im Rebecca Ritters its good to have you with us polls have just closed moments ago in armenia as a snap parliamentary elections reformist Prime Minister nicola passion pushed for the early ballot after a peaceful revolution swept into power earlier this year the Prime Minister is now seeking a strong the mandate from voters for his reform agenda he stepped down two months ago so polman could be dissolved to this Election National road a wave of popular discontent and mass protests against corruption but the former Ruling Party Still dominates the current parliament. For more im joined by journalist joshua cooke charities in the capital yerevan joshua what was the turnout for todays election. Well as you said the polls just closed but we the latest data we have is now three hours old five pm local time at that point it was just under forty percent eligible voters had voted it was interesting is that thats down from fifty one percent in the last parliamentary elections last year most people ive talked to every survey did that to the fact that the former ruling party used to use some unsavory methods to get people to the polls like bribery or when organizing through schools or government offices people to all go to the polls together so. Now that thats not happening turnout is somewhat lower when can we expect the same results of todays. Im told that if the pattern holds from previous elections starting at about midnight which is four hours from now local time we should get some preliminary results. And what about the expected outcome do we know anything they are. Everyone is expecting. Alliances called my staff is going to win a huge victory whether thats sixty percent seventy percent eighty percent is not known but everyone is kind of assuming that its going to be in that range the real drama is going to be with. The other parties who to make it into Parliament According to the constitution at least two other parties have to make it even if they dont get very. Very High Percentage of the votes and a lot of the parties are you quite loyal to the on and so. Its theres a possibility of effectively being a kind of one Party Parliament of the dramas going to be one of the republicans the former ruling party whether theyre able to squeeze and sweep in as the search. Party because theyre the only true opposition at this point and if passion and does and they gain a parliamentary majority what are the real challenges he faces. Well there are quite significant to be the economy here is that its been in a crisis really since. The fall of the soviet union army is like gaining independence. Has raised Expectations Quite high of locking in Foreign Investment and jobs at higher salaries and. You know until now hes had the excuse that the republicans still control the parliament after of this point we wont have that excuse anymore and so do this were given the tools that he needs to do that but its certainly its going to its an uphill battle for and that wont have any more excuses joshua cherry and yeah than thank you thanks for having me. Another night of unrest on the streets of paris. Shops. Cars banks nothing was immune as angus fled across the city thousands of extra police were out paris practically on lockdown it wasnt quite the chaos of last weekend still officials are dismayed at what played out this saturday. And we called upon the once again the receipts to come back into the dialogue and hes going to be the new long Term Solution for both questions you dealt these arms to beat him as a player. Think its there or have that is their reaction of the people there with the french people or is the right thing for a seller of the big island the president s. It is difficult for many people in the country but look here also is not the government says its listening to demonstrate is scrapping its plan to hike few tanks says the president emanuel mccrone hasnt yet met with them that has ignited their fury. The Yellow Vests Movement is less than a month old but it has already brought hundreds of thousands to demonstrations across the country like here in the southwestern city of bordeaux clashes between rioters and police and then barricades set on fire outside an apple store. K. W. Correspondent lisa lewis is covering the protests for us lisa youve been reporting from a neighborhood which saw clashes yesterday was the same there now well absolutely i mean the eighth only small thats not far away from the shows it is a and a lot of the dance hall we wait to see the damages of lot of yesterdays protests really has been talking to people here youve been telling me you know that we have it shocked by what happened over we kind of are getting used to that because thats what french pressures are like many here understands why the demonstrators. Have gone to the barricades and they also understand that theyre having difficulties making ends meet but there are some are now criticizing strides in the movement and say you know actually were quite well off in france why what is all this about really however the large majority of the french three quarters of the french still support the movement and this is the fourth consecutive weekend of unrest in france put this into perspective for us how serious is this violence. But it is quite serious but we can say that yesterday was not as bad as the week before last you know such a day one week earlier the subtle before that there were real scenes of urban guerilla yesterday it was different the police can change strategy instead of keeping a distance to the protesters and they pull little sports that were actually getting at the protesters and arrested instigators at very early states also from the morning on the way controlling costs that were coming to paris taking way possible possible a weapons arrest and lots of people more than one thousand seven hundred people got arrested in one day thats a record here in france and that actually apparently helped to prevent the worst from happening because there was a lot of talk about a very very Serious Violence that could happen yesterday now listen to the brink if you can a man whom i call sports person who says hell announce new measures in response to these protests whats being discussed. In my macaw i said to talk earlier next week so tomorrow on tuesday really and he might announce that people will get have more money in their pocket this talk about they just employees the tax free painters theres also talk about implementing a tax on housing foster release so that could happen we dont know exactly what hes going to announce they base in the us in paris thank you for that analysis. In just a few hours the boca juniors will take on river plate in the second leg of the final of south americas top Club Competition the Copa Libertadores but it wont kick off in one of the iras as originally planned instead thousands of fans have arrived in the spanish capital driv the venue was changed in order to avoid a repetition of scenes like this one from two weeks ago the boca team bus came under attack from river fans leaving some players injured. And joining us now in madrid near the stadium where the game will take place is next medal from our Sports Department max thanks for joining me tell us whats the atmosphere there and what sort of security measures have been put in place. Well the atmosphere is pretty relaxed so far in the city center the two groups of fans are actually mixing and there are according to reports around four thousand to seven thousand police here in the capital ive spoken to a few of them theyve been very happy with how smooth everything has gone so far most of the major roads in the city center have been blocked off im standing just by one of them thats just still open but most of the city center is pedestrian ised and there are fans owns either side of me to the left of me the bookers union fans are all gathering to the right of me is the river plate fans further up hill and indeed later on when the celebrations kick off for one of the teams theyll be separated in the stadium theyre also meant to be separated but ive been speak speaking to a few fans who were in such a rush to get tickets that they just bought any sort of ticket they can so there will be a lot of fans mixing inside the stadium which is very spectacular considering that in argentina for the last the last last five years away fans have been banned so no away fans have been able to travel to home games away games sorry and today will have very mixed stadium but the fans ive been speaking to have been very excited by that prospect well what stories have you heard from. Their riving from all over the world i bumped into a father son duo traveling from barcelona this morning and the young boy is actually carrying his School Uniform with him because hell be there tomorrow at School Tomorrow morning hes a boca found his father is a river found theyll be celebrating one of them will be celebrating today fans arriving from new york australia i just bumped into fans from germany that have come over and madrid is a great venue because its the biggest city biggest population of argentinians outside of argentina three hundred fifty thousand argentinians live here and a lot of mutual funds also who are just here for the occasion sounds like a lot of fun to be had but he doesnt have the importance and history behind this huge match. Well its the biggest rivalry in south american football and you could argue its the biggest rivalry in World Football theyve been facing each other for one hundred ten years over three hundred match ups so far and its also a social divide between the two clubs because unions are considered the working mans club while river plate traditionally have more affluent fans and all the more affluent club indeed the nickname is lost millionaires the millionaires so theres a social divide in in this footballing rivalry and both teams would be very eager to win tonight the match is nicely poised to choose the aggregate score there are no away goal bonuses in couple of out of doors finals so its all to play for first square and the very evenly matched teams it should be a very exciting match well max merrill in madrid thank you and enjoy the game thank you.
