Engineering, Applied Science building at ucla is the building in question. We have learned there are at least two victims. The Student Newspaper, the daily bruin just sent out a tweet, that the shooter was wearing black jacket and black pants. He is a white male about six feet tall according to the ucla newspaper. Joining me as we continue to watch all of this unfold is former cia covert Operations Officer mike baker and by phone, former nypd detective bo dietl. Bo, i will start with you, walk me through what were seeing as were seeing pictures from our local affiliate, what is it police are doing as they try to secure the campus . Wealthy this thing is actively happening right now. The most important thing for any students in the school in any of the rooms, is they, that the best they can, any doorways, put desks against the doorways. Most important thing to try to get yourself into an enclosed space until we know what it is. Because we know one thing, some of these shooters go for body count. If that is what this is all about, you have to keep the shooter from people inside of the school right now. And it is unfolded so quickly, very hard for to us determine exactly what is going on because i dont believe the police know what is going on. Trish we have learned there are two victims. Given it doesnt seem the situation is contained what is it authorities are most worried about, bo . Im sorry, trish . Trish we know there are two victims. Given the situation has not been contained what are they most worried about . That there will be additional casualties . We dont know the motive the shooting. Whether this is boyfriend, girlfriend or possibly terrorist involved or isis person. If that is true we dont wait around we used to. You try to take the shooter out as fast as you can. But i think the most important thing for students in the school is to lock down, block the doorways, block yourself inside of the classroom as best you can to wait for the police to come because you cant be Walking Around there with the police out there. Most importantly is the victims. We have to get the victims out. We dont know what the trish we dont know status of them is, youre right around we saw some ems trucks there earlier. Mike baker, i want to to to you, as to go to you as bo points out we dont know the situation, whether romantic situation or terrorism. All the things until you know at play are being considered by authorities . Well, yeah, all these incidents, initially, start out much in the same manner which is, sort of a state of confusion, an effort to scramble and gather enough information but from the Law Enforcement perspective, including Campus Security all the way up to the fbi, these things follow certain protocols and so whether youre talking about a campus, enormous campus size of ucla or talking about a small elementary school, by this time unfortunately because of our recent past with active shooters they all have protocols in place and they work the scenarios. They develop containment procedures. Develop who has responsibility for what, how youre going to move in after you establish a perimeter. Part of problem with campus size of ucla people least familiar with the protocol are students and faculty themselves. Theyre not involved in the gaming scenarios or tabletop exercises. As bo said, others have said up to this point, the most important at outset is get alert out. They have a campuswide system out there, that works well it appears. Get everyone out there, shelter in place and let authorities do what they do well, the lapd. Trish can i ask a simple question here. Why is it they havent been able to catch them . You look at number of officers that swarmed into the building, given equipment and expertise and this is one lone individual, why cant they catch him . Starting with you and then over to bo. We dont know yet. They may have isolated him and they know where he is and they havent moved in yet because potentially other civilians are being held hostage nearby the site where the gunman is. They may still be looking for him. This is not easy exercise. You go into clear the Building Size of engineering 4 at ucla campus which is a sizable building. You have to move very methodically. They have gone through the process understanding what classes were in place, how many students, what faculty, to degree possible were in the building at this time. So they have got some information but we dont want to jump to any conclusion, well, they dont know where he is or what he is doing. They may very well have isolated him but they have to move in certain manner not to risk their lives or other students or faculty in place. Trish mike baker, stay with me. Bo dietl, over to you, were looking at officers and s. W. A. T. Team going into boelter hall, part of the engineering and apply science at ucla. A campus with 43,000 students. Not all 43,000 students are on campus. Classes were in session and that this happened early morn there in los angeles. Bo, how many does it take, how many officers do you need to be able to lock down a building like this to secure it . You know, when you have Something Like this, trish, the shooter could have been taken out already, we dont know that. The officers there are wanting to find out if it was a lone shooter. You might have seen one of them. There could be more. You have to be very cautious going through all the separate rooms because we found out other scents that have happened, other shooting incidents maybe there is more than one shooter. We dont know exactly. Were all guessing at this point. Im sure police have a pretty good retrospective what is going on right now. They may have taken the shooter out. They want to check to make sure there is no one else. The most important trish wint we know that, bo . To jump in, if they had taken out the shooter would they give us information that they have actually got the shooter . No. The police have all the time in the world to release that they want to make sure there is not a second shooter. And she say shooter into it trillionizes and there is second shooter, and starts up, you havent taken the safety aspect to take this thing out. I want to make sure this is a loan lone shooter before i say all safe for people to come out of the rooms. Imagine if people come out of the rooms and they take shooter out and say it is all safe, and there is another shooter there, that could be horrific tragedy. Trish one of the things you worry about in situations like this, mike, there could be Something Else going on as well. All hands on deck go to that one particular building there, boelter hall, a risk of Something Else if it were coordinated incident. Again we dont know anything to that effect at this point. Tough imagine these are things going through authorities heads right now. Right. Look, weve all become familiar from aviation disasters, that aviation phrase, avery eight, navigate, communicate. In situation like this on the ground, with the police and variety of Police Agencies involved, theyre in a situation, first concern is not getting updated information out to the general public and to the media. They have got to resolve this and then they get the information out in due time. Trish bo, we dont know much right now about this shooter, were getting reports according to the Student Newspaper at ucla, that the shooter is six feet tall, he is a white male and dressed in black pants and a black hoodie. Can you infer anything from that . No, you really cant. Could he be a isis sympathizer or a lone psychopath . We dont know. To use any kind of con juncture as far as what it is, irresponsible for anyone to comment until we get more facts on this thing. Trish i want to jump in. We have learned from the lapd that two are dead in the ucla shooting right now. Again two of the victims are deceased. So again, bo, back to you. No longer two shootings, two victims you about two in fact that died as a result of this here today. Now we have to find out. That is two dead. That is intentional killing right there. Did the shooter intentionally kill those two people for a motive, for a reason . Why was he on there . Could it be a romantic psychopathic guy or isis sympathizer . We dont know yet. It would be irresponsible for me to comment until i find out more. My deepest sympathy goes out to the family of these two young kids. Trish mike and bo, both of you are specialist in the security field, how does a university prevent stuff like this . We have seen number of oncampus shootings in recent years. Something obviously a constant worry but not constant enough because here we are a situation two are now dead as a result of shooting incident there at ucla . Forgive me, bo, first to you, and then over to mike. This is open campus, ucla. You have an open campus here. It is very difficult to shut down a open campus and keep a security perimeter. Tough do your best. When you have open campus like ont have walls or gates around it, people walk in and out of there and have pretty much access to ucla. My problem with this, you can minimize the risk but never be 100 keeping out somebody who want to get in there and hurt somebody. Trish isnt that the truth. Mike, your thoughts . Yeah. That is absolutely true. There is no way around it. Unsatisfying as an answer. Whether talking about terrorism or active shooter situation like this, you can minimize the risk but never drop it down to zero. This is not a zerosum game. We gotten to the point in our lives a lot of general public wants no risk, they want no risk in their life at all. That is unfortunately how it works on planet earth. Elementary school, you can put one point of access and ability to control it. Campus of ucla, a city within a city, 40,000 plus students, and faculty, and the need to move in and out of there, youre not going to redice this thing down to zero but what what they have done, you put in place and exercise and work protocols and plans, Crisis Management planning for situations such as this. And believe me, educational facilities all around the country have these sort of things in place. Doesnt mean you can prevent everything, but your goal at that point to disrupt or minimize as much as possible. W. A. T. Teams there trying to secure this building . Because, trish, youre talking about a city within a city. I can la is a massive ucla is massive piece ever real estate and talking about one particular person. Was it eyewitness . Were there eyewitnesses, or did it come from cctv . When did it come in . What was he wearing . Where was he going . Then youre talking about approximately 40,000 people occupy this particular parcel of land, say hypothetically if its a student, if its a student how did you not a simulate him or assimilate himself into all the other student body leaving the campus. Trish we dont know much what he liked like other than Student Newspaper. Paul is security expert on set. We dont know much about what he is looks like. Could someone have gotten out of that Engineering Hall so quickly . Of course. Think about it, by the time police heard about this, talking about one of the most Skilled Police departments in world. Welltrained in collaboration with the l. A. County Sheriffs Office nd fbi and other Emergency Services is incredible. But nonetheless, talking about shooting occurred. Theyre responding to it and they have to play catchup from the moment they get there. Create a perimeter and contain the situation and look for the shooter. Trish i want to remind everyone again that were getting reports that authorities do not know where the shooter is. The campus is on lockdown. Two people died in the incident that happened roughly 10 00 a. M. California time. What do you make of the news, bo, that they cant yet find the shooter . Were saying beginning they cant find the shooter. Campus is so big trish bo, as youre speaking, we are looking at some pictures right now of some of the students being ushered out of boelter hall where the shoot being took place. Well hope to see more and more coming out. You can see theyre underobservation of the police, having them remove them like that. Shooter cot have come on to the campus, shot two people, gotten off the campus or shooter could be tied up in one of the rooms, we dont know. Each room has to be individually searched. And again, student have to lock down. We do the active Shooter Training tore corporations and schools and what most important thing is, you have to blockade the door and lock down. Until the police get there, as i said, if this is something that wants active body count, you dont want to give them any targets. Put desks against doors. Do whatever you got to do. Lock in place. You communicate with the police. Tell them what room youre in. These things should be in place at large campus like ucla. If you look at active shooter scenario, that scenario takes three or four minutes from start to finish. Paul, to you in a moment, we know two people are dead. They are still searching for the shooter. Are authorities going to look into, for example, who these two people are in order to piece together who the shooter might have been . No question about that, trish, the reason why, was they students . Was it faculty . Was it an administrator . That will help them begin profiling process of the shooter. No question we do know with respect to studying and investigating School Shootings theyre highly foreseeable. If this is a student went to particular place, chances are he went trish what do you mean theyre highly foreseeable. Look at peddie free of the shooter, the reason why a School Shooter goes to certain location typically certain people they blame for their lot in life. We know this over time. If they can ascertain who victims are, it will profile the pedigree of shooter himself. Trish im also joined on the phone by chicago Sergeant Peter coconis. Peter, as this news unfolds, updating viewers, were get reports, authorities still do not know where the shooter is how much are they looking into as peter and i were discussing who the victims are in this, determining who the shooter might have been . Well my expertise is more on going in and locking down, finding shooter, extricating the and trying to get the shooter out. You want to stop that immediately. Other stations put on didnt know if fbi or dea or ucla police were in charge. The Police Department from los angeles appears to have taken the lead on this and they are the ones that are going to release the information but first and foremost your original team, like what we have in chicago, hostage barricade team, we would have perimeter of the building surround and ad go in floor to floor. Not like you used to do and wait. You want to go in there and nullify the shooter or shooters immediately so more people dont get hurt. And i heard the one gentleman made the comment that you know, you will know the pedigree and all this but right now theyre not worried about who did it, why he did it. Theyre worried about getting the man, or whoever it was and stopping him. Trish sergeant, dont you have to think about who and why in this particular case . Because the shooter is still missing. They still do not know where he is. Well, thats the reason you lockedded down it is a large building. Its a large campus. Hopefully that they have still got him or her in that building. Now once hes escaped, once he once the offender has gotten out of that building, then there is finding out who it was. Was it a student . Was it, you know, a boyfriend . Was it a guy that flunked . A guy that will not get the engineering degree . That comes into play later. Then you build the information to pinpoint who it could possibly be. Authorities still do not know where the shooter is, so it is still considered there an active shooter situation, as we have seen a number of s. W. A. T. Teams move into the building. Boelter hall is the location where the incident said to have occurred. It is part of the Engineering Department at ucla. One of the things having each much you here today, each much you would have performed a separate role in shooting situation like this. When we heard from the sergeant he is not necessarily worried about who the shooter is. He wants to secure the building. Peter, however, you would be looking at a different part of this investigation and one would have to think that each of the different teams there on site right now are doing exactly. Walk us through it. You will holistically of a inner perimeter and outer perimeter. As sergeant was saying sweep the building, clear the building, identify verify, if there are victims. Now you know there are two dead. You still have clear the building. Bear in mind this is one building on massive campus. You can not assume that is ire only crime scene. Police are spreading while it is on lock down and continue until they verify they have in fact the shooter. Simultaneously, you have to take pieces of information, you have to take the information on the victim, because that is going to help you, help further identify who the shooter is. You have to go back to the School Newspaper because you need to find out from them where did you get the information on shooter . Was eyewitness saw a white guy six fool tall wearing black clothes . That will not help me or did you get live video feed. What direction was he driving . Trish were getting reports that students are using belts to lock their doors to try to keep themselves safe. We also know that the Student Newspaper there, which initially reported that the shooter was a white male, roughly six feet tall, breasted in black pants and a black hoodie, that website for the Student Newspaper is actually down right now, likely because it saw so much traffic from not just student there on campus of which there are 43,000 but also, everyone in outside world watching this story carefully right now. I want to go back to mike baker, former cia, ask you about the belts student are using to secure their doors. Is that helpful . What else would you tell any student there on campus right now in any one of these buildings . Well, i mean, again they have to use what they have got. You know, they have to healther in place. So essentially, you know, they are smart kids, right . They got themselves into ucla. So they, first of all they get message to shelter in place. They do that. Barricade the doors. There are come mergely available doorjambs. I send my kid off to college, get a doorjamb, or door blocker they can take it to school. Sad commentary on sate of affairs. You need to be realistic about this. Trish, finding out who victims are, important to understand there are variety of elements within lapd on site now working as well as multiple agencies and all this happens concurrently. They can multitask. So as the sergeant absolutely correctly pointed out, First Priority is, figure out what youve got, contain and prevent and stop the shooter, or shooters. But at same time you have got other elements in there. Theyre doing things you talked about. Theyre now trying to peel apart the layers of these victims, understand who they were, what the nature of it was. As paul mentioned about cctv, theyre gathering up all footage, reviewing it. He have all things happening at same time. Not as if you have focus on one thing only. This again, there is a lot of collaboration and a lot of practice and work and tabletop exercises and exercises with these scenarios. Trish a lot of people doing different things. Absolutely. Trish i have more news to report to you, as the police there sweep engineering 4 building, boelter hall, we have learned there are 18 general assignment classrooms inside of that building. Fox business actually called the Engineering School administrator who is the director of annual and special gifts. She was still in her office there at the school. She was not authorized to speak, she said, and she hung up. She is still there, one would think her office given that we were able to reach out to her. Again the Engineering School administrator. I imagine, this is incredibly scary thing for anyone to be going through. Certainly if youre someone who is witness to this, certainly if you are a student right now at that campus, pal, and certainly if youre the parent or or a loved one of any of those 4thousand students on campus, we have 43,000 students on campus weve seen several incidents like this throughout the years. Preparedness prevents paranoia. More preparedness they have for students which ucla does more prepared they are less paranoid them will be. Listen to mike. Fewer People Better trained than mike. They came up with the belts themselves they were trained for that. Trish it has been a few years since i was in college, certainly i was in School Nobody was telling you how to prepare for actual shooting. Is that really what it comes to. It has. Trish kids are prepared in classroom somewhere initially as they get into school . How could we not . Overwhelming responsibility colleges have to protect students. We know how many Mass Shootings we had last year. We had 431 Mass Shootings last year. We know high probability of risk. Phenomena is foreseeable risk and something schools have to act preemptively for. Trish sergeant, 43,000 students on campus, that is a pretty large community, larger than a lot of towns in america. How do you secure a campus that big . Thats the hard part. You try to get the students to move, when you clear an area, try to get as many people as you can to move in an area where theyre clear. And you always have to be aware that this guy could have taken off this black hoodie, if in fact what he was wearing and try to blend in and work his way out with the students. So now youre going to have to go through everybody in that building and theyre going to have to identify themselves. And hopefully, somebody in that buildi have seen this guy before and, has an idea who it is, if it is a disgruntled student or something. It seems, you know, there is reports that he use ad shotgun. You have to wonder if people saw it when he came in and they started running. You have now, i know in this city, we have loy control la, northwestern, depaul, we have major universities here. But what they have down now, they have put an alert on the phone like a tornado alert where it just blogs to every phone, to every student that registered, so they know whats going on. Trish yes. You know trish i want to jump in, sergeant, because i would like to get everyones reaction to this. We have learned a couple of things. One, students are being searched as they leave the building, which is to be expected of course to your point earlier, paul about how anybody could just change out of the clothes that he or she was wearing. So that is standard protocol. But were also getting unconfirmed reports that a suicide note and a handgun has been found by police. So, sergeant, i would like to get your reaction to that again. The most recent reports to us have been that they do not know where this shooter is. Could it have been that this was a Suicide Mission and what do you make of these unconfirmed reports that, actually, weve got a press conference happening by lapd. Ucla Police Department right now. Lets listen in to this. We had a on come pus oncampus shooting this morning. Sad fact that two victims from the shooting. We have active investigation and active search to insure there are no further victims that no one else is in harms way and were still searching to see if there is subject still in the area. Those are questions we dont have anticipated yet but i can tell you what we did immediately upon having learned about this incident, we put out a bruin alert, that is our campus alert notification system to advise all of those in our Campus Community about an incident that occurred that could be dangerous to them and we requested them to stay out of the area. Right now currently the campus is on lockdown. We have literally hundreds of Police Officers and agents here on campus assisting in this active situation. Ucpd is working in concert with the fbi with los angeles Police Department, with atf and with l. A. City Fire Department as well as Santa Monica College police. We have a lot of resources here that were dedicating to insure the safety of this entire Campus Community. Well tell you that with response that we have had, not only from our own officers who responded within just brief moments of receiving that first call, it is something were trained to do. When our officers arrived on scene they immediately began putting teams together, rescue teams to help those who have been injured and search teams for suspects who may have been in the area. That was implemented immediately and we have not stopped yet of the we will continue to go until were assured this campus is safe and if there is outstanding suspect well have this person or persons in custody. You dont know if one of the victims is the shooter . We dont know. Certainly possible one of the victims is the shooter. Snoop suicide. There is possibility but we havent confirmed that yet. Can you tell us where the in building, Engineering Building the shootings occurred and what the circumstances were . The location exactly in the building i cant divulge right now. It is in the Engineering Building as you know. It is inside where there are numerous people. Quite honestly we still have dozens of people in the building who sheltered in place. Other than the building, area outside is court of sciences. We asked everybody from this that location to please leave the area to insure their safety. Reporter one location . One location so far. Reporter victims inside building . Victims inside the building. Reporter how many shooters or gunmen. Unknown. Reporter male or female victim . I dont have that information. One more question. Im not sure where the or begin of the call was. Well update information as we develop it. Reporter do you know victim was student . I dont know. Trish youve been listening to james herren from the ucla police, briefing reporters there on the situation. He said in fact there have been two victims. He did not confirm the sex of the victims, however we are getting reports from Associated Press that in fact both were male. He did, insist this is an active investigation in which they have hundreds of Police Officers on the scene. He said they have a coordinated effort there with the fbi, the lapd, atf, to try to insure the safety of all the students there but the reality is, the harsh reality of all of this, and i will go to paul here on set with me right now, security expert, paul viollis, that this is still an active situation. They do not know where the shooter is. They do not know this was domestic situation where the shooter is in fact dead now. One of the reporters asked whether this could have been a suicide situation . He said we do not know. All these things are being investigated. As much as he says. Look we have hundreds of Police Officers, hundreds and hundreds and fbi and atf and lapd working on this and until that shooter is caught, theyre going to continue in this state of lockdown. You know, students there, Community Members are going to be worried. Absolutely. And thats not going to change until this is neutralized entirely, this will be an active shooter investigation. The police will have this entire campus on lockdown. Also joining me here, we have mike baker and sergeant kokonis from chicago. You have an entire campus, sergeant, on lockdown, how do you get information out at time like this to the student body, to faculty members so they stay secure, they stay safe . They, obviously have some sort of a phone thing, phone system where they can put out an alert and all they do is hit a button and everybody in the school will get an alert on their cell phones that theres something going on and if they dont have a cell phone, somebody next to them will let them know. It was good to point out the two gentlemen. It used to be that you just had security guys that worked at these colleges. Now these, these officers at colleges are highly trained professionals and in this situation im sure there is communication van that is being used as a headquarters and a officer is there who has got the experience and the training in hostage and barricade situations, he would be the guy that everybody would fall back on to have him coordinate what is going on. And whether it is a murder and a suicide, whether it is, the guys dead, the one guy, the other person there, he made a good point, you know, he could be one of the victims. But until youre 100 sure that that building is 100 clear, and every kid and person in that School Building is free and able to move out of there, this can continue for hours. Trish yeah. Pretty nerveracking situation. Quick question for you, paul, are the ucla Campus Police armed . They are. Youre talking about state sworn Law Enforcement officers. So they are 100 armed and welltrained. Well continue following this story. I want to remind you this shooter has not been located, so it is still an active shooter situation there on the ucla campus. Well have more coming out of ucla right after this. Trish all right, everyone, still breaking right now, the ucla campus is entirely on lockdown right now. We are getting reports that authorities still do not know where the shooter is. They dont even know if this was one shooter or two shooters. We just heard from the ucla police, Police Officer james herren moments ago who said there are still a lot of unanswered questions. He was asked by reporters whether this could be possible Suicide Mission, whether it could be domestic situation or Something Else. There are just no answers at this point as Police Continue to hunt down this shooter. We do know that two people are dead. The Associated Press is reporting that the two that died were male. So two men died in this situation. The fbi, the lapd, the atf, along with ucla police are all looking into this and trying to keep the campus as safe as they can right now. Ron, what is it someone like yourself would be doing right now as this situation evolves . Well, you know, a person like me, would come in later, you know, to analyze what the actions of the police were and the individual. What i get involved in, as a former tactical officer as well as retired detective is active shoot every training to citizens. As a matter of fact, i do active Shooter Training for riverside and san diego county. Plotting what the Police Response is going to be and i think a number about people that are articulated that and also talking about what the possible stressors are that might have precipitated this event. Lets not forget that final trish ron, it seems im losing you right now. Ron was making the point he would be looking what exactly precipitated this event. For example, they have final exams going on right now, paul. We know that they were having graduation ceremonies next week. So some of these sort of more emotional type things that might play into a potential suicide owe vent . It could, it could. But again, this comes back to what we were talking about earlier with respect to taking good, solid look at the pedigree of victims to help us create a benchmark who we may be looking for as a shooter since we both know we dont know who that is yet. Trish yeah. Again, as we watch live pictures as you can see, hundreds of Police Officers there are on the scenes and were going back and forth between a number of different shots but you have some suv vehicles pulling up right now. We saw some s. W. A. T. Teams going in earlier as they try to evacuate everyone there from that building. We are getting reports thatter this actually looking at each of the student, basically patting them down, inspecting them to search them, of course to see if they had any weapons on them. One would have to imagine, mike, that this is happening in each of the buildings right now, not just in boelter hall, the scene of the murders . Well, the folks on the primary site but, yes, youre correct in the sense that, as been mentioned by paul and others previously, you cant assume anything. So you have to take into account when youre setting up your perimeter and working in, from there, you have to assume that potentially you have a problem in other facilities out there. Look, there are a lot we dont know. Unconfirmed reports of a suicide note and hand bun being found. Not knowing identities yet, at least we dont of victims. Not knowing if one of the victims perhaps is in fact the shooter. Not knowing if there were more than one shooter. So there is a great deal that needs to be processed here. Again the good news i suppose if you want to refer to it in that way, is that you know, these various Law Enforcement organizations, elements of lapd and others have a great deal of practice doing this. And it is, theres a methodology involved. It is unsatisfying to all of us who want answers immediately. Particularly unsatisfying i imagine to the parents and family members who have students or, loved ones on campus for one reason or another. That lack of information can be very frustrating. But just like with egypt air crash or any other investigation you have to work through these processes. Theres no shortcuts here. Trish ron, as we talk about the information and process for getting this information and gathering this information from the authorities perspectives and then of course disseminating it, interestingly there is always little bits and pieces that tend to leak out via media. So, for example, we were getting reports that the two victims in this case were male. However, james herren, the ucla Police Officer that was just questioned by reporters said that he had not heard that information. So how much sharing of information is really happening right now is here in the present . Think part of the problem is you have got several agencies that are responding. This is lapds jurisdiction. You have to figure out what their unified command might be, but dont forget weve got fbi, olved sot atf, local officers there is going to be some disconnects with communication. The next thing, speaking of good news, partial good news is, we dont have anymore reports of anybody else being shot and so we go through the standard, operating procedure protocol which is responding, identify the shooter, identify the location, isolating, containing the building, rapid entry into the buildings, evacuation of students and faculty and attempt to further isolate and contain the shooter or engage them if theyre a threat, if not negotiate with them. So thats whats going on right now. I totally get the disconnect in communication. Trish again, reminder. Were getting reports that they are now moving groups of students out of the buildings with their hands up. Theyre serving them. Yes. Trish but, paul, how do you wall off that entire campus . Couldnt someone just cross the streets and wander off into the city of los angeles . No question. There is no doubt about that. Thats not, that is not lack of preparedness on part of the Police Department. Thats just a fact. That is something, that is a just a blatant fact. Theyre doing great job by containment with respect to in and out of perimeter. Bottom line, look at numbers involved here. This comes down to one thing we dont know yet, the newspaper, the ucla bruin, whatever it is . Trish thats it. We need to hold them accountable, i want answer how did you find out the information who the shooter was, where did you get that description . That is really something we need to know. Trish because again as we talk about the information coming out in dribs and drabs, they of course reported earlier that the student was roughly six feet tall, male with a black hoodie and black pants, which thus means someone must have called in to them, potentially student, maybe somebody there in the classroom that was eyewitness. Youre looking at some pictures there of students outside of another building there on campus. We just saw them gathering at the steps. I just, you know i look at those kids and i know if one of them were mine i would want to make sure that they were safely away in their dorm room or off the campus at this point. Is it wise for them to be standing outside there . Well it is wise for them to be contained at this point because really dont want them walking ba the campus or getting off the campus because we dont know where the shooter is. We dont know if we have more than one shooter of the as much as parents really want this expeditious result right now which is understandable it is not just feasible at this point. The police are doing what they need to do contain it and methodically go around the campus and with respect to the investigation. Trish reality there are some questions right now and people are looking for answers but we dont have them, Police Department in l. A. And ucla police and fbi all try to search for this shooter.
