Prince Rogers Nelsonl has died at his paisley park residence this morning at the age of 57. Now we know that last friday prince was flying to a concert in atlanta, georgia when his private plane made an Emergency Landing in illinois. Prince was rushed to the hospital suffering from the flu. But the next night during a party at his paisley park compound where he not only lived but had a recording studio, prince made an appearance to quiet all the speculation about his illness, telling the fans to wait a while before they wasted any more prayers. During his recent tour prince also canceled a few shows because ofiveliness. Now his reps say he was sick for several weeks but they have not elaborated about his illness. We know that as a child prince talked openly of suffering say didnt really know how to handle the seizures. But prince also believes he was cured from epilepsy through some divine intervention. He was raised in a very musical family. His dad was a pianist in a minneapolis jazz band called the prince roger preyo. That is the name where prince got lhis. By 7 prince was playing a guitar, drums. Album came in 1992 with the hit little red corvette. He had five number one hits, even won an Academy Award for purple rain in 1985. When doves cry and lets go crazy. He also wrote the soundtrack for the tim burton version of batman. Phe was a trend sender and able est and deepest baritone. He collaborated with many and was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. His cause of death is still unknown. His fans are now gathering at his compound outside minneapolis. Listen to what one fan said about the death of prince. Its just shocking to lose someone of that great importance. I mean he completely revitalized the music scene in minneapolis. Singlehandedly one of the most influential artists ever and its just really shocking. Of course reaction coming in from all over the web. Celebrities like katy perry tweeting this and just like that the world lost a lot of magic. Rest in peace, prince. Thanks form giving us so much. The singer billy idol tweeting, oh, my god, i cant believe that prince has died. He was a great, great talent. Rest in peace. Mc hammer. I love this man. Too soon. Cant comprehend it but it is unforaunately true. Heaven is yours. Rest in peace. Of course we said many times from minneapolis, gretchen, thats your hometown as well, he never left. He spent a lot of time in hollywood and new york traveling the world, but that was his home and he was a huge part of that community. Gretchen. No doubt. He never did leave home and many people there appreciated that about him. Trace, well be back to you in a moment. For more now lets go to minnesota. Outside princes estate in ch chanhass chanhassen, minnesota, i know it well. I cant imagine, ted, what the scene has been like there today. Reporter people who arent from minnesota may not know, this is a small compound. It is in a suburb of minneapolis called chanhassen. It is this big complex of these white buildings that are lit up in purple at night. Princes color. And prince not only lives here, he records music here. Sometimes he just wants to talk. And one of my colleagues actually here at kmsp or fox 9 in the twin cities, iris perez, over the years has become a good friend of prince. S es out here as well. Iris, ive been asking a lot of people today, whats going through your mind . Unbleelievably devastated. Im at a loss. He was my friend. He was so dear to me and dear to so many people all over the world. There are hearts that are breaking all over the world today to hear this news. Prince was a guy that took very good care of himself. He watched what he ate. He didnt eat meat. Very strict diet. Very into taking case care of his physical body. Also very private person. He had his limits with what he hads share with people and he didnt want to talk about the fact that he nad been overcoming the flu and it seemed like there may have been some challenges with that. He wanted to focus on saturday night, what he was going to give his fans here a performance here. So there is a lot thats going through my mind right now, teddy, as im sure with his family and his Close Friends and all of his fans all around the world. He was the most prolific artist of our time. Im not ashamed to say that. I think a lot of people out there will attest to that. You asked me earlier, what was he like in person . He was who he shared himself with the world to be. He was christopher tray is in under the cherry moon. He was the guy in graffiti bridge. He was the guy in purple rain. That is who he was. A lot of people are mourning right now but i think we can find comfort in the fp u that he lived such a full, rich life and he shared himself to he went to Great Lengths to share imself with so many of us and i just feel so privileged and blessed to have had an opportunity to get to know him in person and have real experiences with him and to have shared great memories with him. Iris, yu talked about saturday night. For those who arent familiar, we heard that prince had this Emergency Landing in illinois, was briefly hospitalized. Said he was okay. Then just a few days later had this big party here at paisley park. You were at that party. You talked a little bit about how he was doing. Did he seem healthy . He invited me last minute to the party. I came here so i didnt make it inside but we had been in communication and he had told me im going to bed. Im very sorry, next time ill make sure than you hear it direct from me earlier. And so i understood. I just said all good. You know. I just was confident that there would be another opportunity. It is not only a lesson for me but like i said,e was private. He had his boundaries with what he would discuss with people. I definitely rqatq uq those boundaries and just like you would any fried. Right . You know, if he didnt want to talk about how he was feeling, then i had to respect that. I definitely asked him, hey, how are you doing . Are you feeling better . He was like you got to speak what you want into existence. He was very much that type of guy. He wanted to focus on the positive. I think what he was focusing on over the past weekend was his performance here and leaving everybody with an experience that they would never forget. Iris, you know his fans better than anyone. We are seeing them on the grassy hill here that overlooks paisley park. Many are on their phone taking pictures. What are we going to be seeing here the next few days . Were going to see an outpouring of the love and support from people not only in minnesota across the country, ll over the world, im pretty sure, im very confident there is going to be people flying in to minnesota from all across the globe expressing their love and expressing what prince meant to them in their hearts. He had an incredible way of leaving a lasting impression with so many people and i think that theyre going to try to return that to honor his life. Ist of mourning, but there is also going to be a form of celebration because we got a chance to experience someone truly special that we may not ever experience in this lifetime again. Thank you so much, iris, for talking to us. My best to you. Iris talks about people celebrating princes life. We all know princes color was purple. People are starting to stick flowers in the fence that surrounds paisley park and gretchen, many of those flowers, theyre purple. Of course they are, ted holler and iris, thanks much. Our chief religion correspondent here at fox news, lauren green, actually wentz l school with prince. We are both from minnesota so we understand how important he was to the community there and quite frankly to the world, but you went to school with limb. He lived in your neighborhood. Well, this is the thing thatah ery hard for me because it is on two Different Levels. Because i remember this kid that i grew up with in the same neighborhood in minneapolis. Because minneapolis and st. Paul are very small minority community, we kind of played in the same areas but we were never close. It was just i knew him as a kid that i grew up with. As we got older i found out that he was this great musician. I was also studying classical piano so we were like in two different worlds but loving the same thing music. Here in minnesota you have this great artist could have gone to any town in the world and he chose to stay in minnesota. This is what is so incredible about minnesota and about prince, about the music scene there. Because its prince, its jimmy jam and terry lewis and flight time, sounds of blackness, the steels, all of these people who create this richness of the music scene of minnesota. Weve been hearing a lot about the fact that maybe he grew up in a troubled environment in his home. Some of that was depicted in his life story, purple rain, which he won an Academy Award for. But what are your memories . I didnt know him that well. I knew him as this kid. If he had a troubled home, i never knew about it. When youre kids playing in the same neighborhood, the kid doesnt talk about his personal life. Hes just a kid named prince. I never knew much more about him than that. We did have conversations after he became prince. I do remember, he asked me to be in one of his videos. We had a conversation once about music, he says why dont you come down to the club. I said clubs not my scene. But we had this really soulful conversation on the phone about music and that told me he was a real musician. He wasnt just this sort of pop showman. He really understood music. Spl when you talk about the club, are you talking about first avenue . I actually never went to first avenue. It was the fine line. The fine line was the other club. Not even bigger than a studio. Thats how small it was. One night he came down there and performed out of the blue. 5 cover and then you get to had some friends who were on vacation in turks and caicos. He was staying at the same resort and on new years eve he came out in the middle of the night and started playing at one of the bars. First avenue was the club that purple rain, the movie, made famous. That was his club. But there was another club, smaller one, more intimate called the fine ligne and that the one a lot of people went to. Talk about his influence in the music world in general. You and i grew up with Classical Music being such an influence in our lives but he really pushed the energy with regard to funk and pop and any other part of music. You know what really almost actually got me angry when we talked . That he didnt read music. Really . He didnt read music which is so different from anything i had understood but it told me the levl of greeno ougenius he had. The vault at paisley park is where he kept a lot of the songs he had written that were never pub accomplished. There were like 500 songs in this vault they used to talk about. He was that much of a genius that he could create and compose and didnt even have to publish them in order to make money. So did you actually ever do this video with him . Yes. It was called my name is prince. Im the newscaster at the front end. So many people documenting this since his death we found out two hours ago. But you didnt know about his private life. For example, is he even married right now. Who knows, really. He also had a child who passed away in minnesota maybe almost ten years ago now and there are scant details even about that. I think that just shows that he not only was private. My impression wasi that he was shy, that he got married at park Avenue United Methodist Church and he put a tent over the entrance to the church. It was a, Neighborhood Church i south minneapolis. It is not a big cathedral or anything. It is right on the corner from where my mother lives. But he put a tent over just so it would be what do you think his legacy will be on the Music Industry . His legacy will be that he has influenced generation after generation of musicians, and not just in minnesota. Im always surprised when i go outside of minnesota how many people of a ungyer age are obsessed with prince, they know his music. Mu came out, they still know who he is or who he was and are influenced by his sound, by his uniqueness, by his daring in music. By him helping other musicians. Remember, it wasnt just him on the music scene. It was other people like flight time who same the background in purple rain, and they went on to create their own music studio. They produced albums for Janet Jackson. So you see the influence is there and the richness came all together. They grew up together and they fed off each other. I remember being a kid and . Growing up1[i1rq he was coming into fame and going to the purple rain concert in minneapolis. I dont know if you also went to that as well. And seeing him at the first avenue bar. Musicians as well. We were h5epjcg earlier he discovered Carmen Electra when sheub and the list goes on and on. Right . He was he loved music and he loved musicians. And he loved being able to collaborate with them. I think thats part of the legacy that he will continue on. Im sure those people hoe influenced will then take that legacy and spread it to another generation because it is always about the music. Business part of it, thats necessary. But the music is really core and really key and thats what he i think his legacy will bring. When you were growing up with him, did you have any idea that he was actually a musician at the time . No, absolutely not. When i was in grade school, i had no idea he was a musician. Even when we were in high school i didnt know he was a musician until i saw annard cat in the minneapolis star tribune. A reporter found this recording he did and he had done all the instruments. I remember the line in the article saying, isnt this amazing . I went, yeah, it is kind of amazing. Then three years later hes prince. But his real name was actually prince. Prince Rogers Nelson. Thats the name that ive always known him as. People asked me, whats his real name . I say, its prince. When he was 7, it was prince. When he was 10, it was prince. Thats his name. I think whats so fascinatesing, the genre of music you grew up with was so, so, so different. You werent really pushing anyq envelopes like he was lyrics. You were playing beethoven and bach. In south minneapolis as an africanamerican child playing Classical Music, i was not the most popular child in town. For him and i to meet on that level of music even later in life was a great compliment to i he really understood music and he liked that i played music and understood music and but it was just not my scene. But he was always that person that i knew that was an incredible talent and other people i know, that knew him a lot better than i did. I was not part of the crew that got invited to paisley park or that hung out at the clubs. I just wasnt. That was just not my scene. But he certainly is an icon of minnesota and minneapolis and the music scene there. ÷ really shocked on so many Different Levels because i acknowledge his incredible talent as a great musician and world renowned musical talent. Im also shocked because one of the kids that i grew up with is now gone, who had antgfub incre influence on the whole community. Well, it is amazing that you and i can have offices right down the hallway from each other in new york city and both work at fox and you just happened to walk by my office when all this was coming out. Im like, wow, lauren green knew julie banderas, . Ov youve hearing lauren talk about these very personal memories growing up in the same neighborhood and such. On a world scene, prince was the guy in the music world, p but when you talk about ce, we didnt really know much about limb. Today weve been talking about how he did have a child. He in fact had a baby in 2006 and that child died a week after the mother gave birth. He was married twice. But that was a story that we didnt really hear much aboutni because he was able to protect it in such a way that a lot of celebrities do not because their lives are obviously splashed all over the headlines and, unfortunately, being reported by all these tabloids. But this icon, prince Rogers Nelson, a lot of people didnt even ever hear of the Rogers Nelson part of his name. He leaves behind such a legacy of groundbreaking music, as well as many fans shocked and saddened bytevs the news today. He was my personal first favorite. I remember the first time i ever fellb; love, very true story, the albumu v and everybody h can laugh as i tell this jg was that first album i recall personally and it touched me because that song, the beautiful ones, for example, one of my very favorite songs on that album, and of course that was the movie that featured his life and he appeared in and won an oscar for. He was actually going to be releasing a memoir on the beautiful ones. This is going to be probably the second time ever that we really got a look inside of princes lv because the movie 0avjrpurp rain gave us a little glimpse but we hadnt really seen inside his life since. So hes beend7vip j sort of ico as you know. Then he went by the sim bomb, formerly known as prince. Then of course it also all started back in the 70s. Just like lauren was just talking about, he became that huge star in the 80smo. Released his first debut album in 78. Then thats when the status of his stardom rose. He starred in the purple rain which included when doves cry, lets go crazy, and of course my favorite, purple rain. He won an Academy Award for the original song score for that song. From 95 to 02, he released eight albums, one each year. He played multiple instruments. He was so dedicated to his craft. He had some 26 different instruments and he had a huge role in playing many of those. I grew up as a musician and he was my idol. As a complete band nerd, i actually dont confess this often, i played 13 instruments. And i used to look to him and n think, oh, my god, he plays so many instruments, how can somebody do Something Like that . But he just did it. It was just magic to him. He was a natural. Two more moves actually nc movies that he created. In 1993 he changed his name of course to the symbol due to a dispute with his record label leaving everyone to call him the artist formerly known as prince. Then in 2000 when he basically published a contract with warner brothers, his contract expired so he took back the name of prince. Then in 2004 he was inducted into the rock roll hall of fame. Huge honor. In 2007 a very memorable super bowl performance. Throughout his career he won seven gr seven grammys in all. He was nominated for 30. Sadly all shockingly coming to an end on thursday morning when his body was discovered at paisley park, the compound where he resided in minnesota early thursday morning. Tmz had reported apparently that he had had some sort of medical emergency on april 15th that forced his private jet to make an Emergency Landing in illinois. But he did happen to appear at a concert the next day toz÷ assu his fans he was okay. He was in the hospital for three hours and released. He was said to be okay. He was battling the lu. Such a private person, so dedicated to his career. He put his career first obviously before his health been gretchen. Of coursey7e we wont know t official cause of death been just that he was suffering from the flu. He made that eme t0ttk landing coming back from a concert in atlanta in illinois. Web to the hospital for a couple of hours. Who knows if he wanted to just go home or was released because he wasnt that sick. He did a concert back in minneapolis at paisley park. But somebody7vyjut who just head dtq jjt back in minnesota in his hometown area of chanhassen. thatoa show tell everyone that he was okay. Did he mention anything about being sick . No. Thank you so much. Yeah, no problem. Listening to a ungy la young that had been tomptu concert that happened in minnesota. The bottom line is he passed a i way a few days later. Had been battling the flu for a at least not feeling well. Canceled a couple of concerts along the way. Weve been talking morenyn k so that there will be an official cause of death by a government official. We always talk about his health but remember, even though he is larger than life on stage, hn i know. I remember. He was very slight. He wore those tall ikboots. hed . He had a wardrobe making department at paisley park and they had all of his patterns for his shoes and for his clothes and they had so he designed a lot of his clothes. Those are the clothes that you see him in. He didnt buy off the rack. He designed his own clothes so everything fit him perfectly. So when you see hii; n saying, you 0bvn can die from t flu. The other interesting thing was such a private person, he just revealed in an interview recently that he did you ever remember anything like that . I remember nothing. When i was a child he was also a child, so you said epilepsy toz c me it would hav been a foreign language. Cwypi w that was. 0n a religion correspondent i do believe in divineuut intervention. Ive done a lot of research on the area of divine intervention. I doah c believe that it is pose that perhaps perhaps and this is my own opinion perhaps god was giving him time to do what he needed to do and he did it and god said, its time now to come home. Thats my own feeling. We do. Ocr know that he de we understand prince hasnt played there since july 7, 2007. Dana, what can you tell us about first avenue and how that factors in to the history of prince and how he really got his start . 5bgs in minneapolis . First of all, were all just devastated and heartbroken. We feel like we lost a good friend and just a beloved member of our family. We just are all trying to absorb the shock and trying to wake up in the new world, so to speak. I know. And people will understand your emotion with this because he was such an icon in the state of minnesota and in the music world in general. Yeah. One of the most magical things about prince and his music was his ability to connect to and inspire just musicians across every genre. We have thousands of 6e c music coming through73ivx our main rod the entry in the year. They all want to hear prince storiesjc and they all have the own stories how they were inspired by him. Its not just one genre. Its every single musician. It is pretty all encompassing. Thats such a great point because weve been talking about that here with my colleague, lauren green. We were both Classical Musicians on a serious level growing up in minnesota but still inspired by his genius and the way in which he really pushed the envelope in the music world. I think it is such a great point that you bring up that he inspired some different people no matter what kind of music you were playing. Day dayna, the last time he was at first avenue was in 2007. When you there then . I was. Wherever whenever he takes the stage it is a magical experience. But first avenue is his home, the heart of our community for sure. It is just< experience. What do you think is going to be the legacy for the music world . You are entrenched in it there, in minnesota and beyond, now that he has passed hn away . His legacy. I mean i just feel like it is just a legacy of quality and abundance. He must have produced more music at a higher level than anyone in recent memory for sure. And just the his ability to explore different genres and create so much work at such a high level over that leh lwu of time is really incredible. Dayna clark, first avenue bar in minneapolis where prince performed excuse me, dayna frank, first avenue bar where prince performed frequently where he launched his career. He last performed there in 2007. Thanks for your time today. Thanks so much. Lets hear now from a fan who just saw prince live in concezs saturday night and gave this emotional reaction after finding out that he had passed away. I was at his concert on saturday night. We were just drooiiving past, home. We sawb; there was like a dance party of all of his songs. It was really cool to see and that we go to do that right before. So he was talking to fans . J, a his guitar. Orox and what are your thoughts . It is such a huge shock. Its devastating. Twitter that there is a Death Investigation going on. I came over here and its crazy that it was him. Yeah, just shocked. Devastated. Youjc on hearing it firsthanm a fan, young lady at the last concert prince gave in minneapolis after he had been ill for quite some time. Well talk in a9afew minutes about how bad the flu can actually get for young people who appear to be in good health÷ well have that in just a moment as we see now in one of the very few interviews that prince actually ever gave. He was a very private person and not one who talked a lot about had imself. But i find that sovu because on one hand he was so immensely private,y9zrz on the other hand you are now hearing so many of these stories about[ how he would come out. You were describing that fine line at a bar in minneapolis an play these private concerts sometimes for people that he didnt know that well. I think it is a hallmark to people who really just love music when they want to play in smaller venues where they can be closer to their audience. I keep hearing hes a private person, thats true. But i always found him to be rather shy. I always found that music was his voice, was his way of speaking to the world in a way that was loud andogcl boisteroud gave all the nuance that he wanted to give to people. He could do it through music, whereas on a oneonone basis or in a group speaking, that wasnt his voice. That wasnt his language. Music was his language. Thats such an important point. As musicians i know you and i understand that as well but i remember seeing him atbh6,n thet avenue bar. We were just speaking to the owner there. He would be standing in the corner. This is before he was ultra famous. I remember him being like that, so shy, not talking to anybody, with big tall boots on. And thinking, wow, that guy is really high boots on and like the next year, he pvcj prince. And the whole world knew who he was. It sort of t happened overnight this fame. I think we were discussing earlier that he put out his first album at a pretty youngbz age but maybe that one didnt actually take off like usc÷pur÷ rain did. One of the things about musicians who really score big when theyre y they love the music so much. You look . Winehouse who died so tragically,l ive never seen anybody as big as prince,4xf terry lewis brought Janet Jackson to the state fair. Lauren, stick around. Dr. Siegel just happened to come right in the studio. We have been hearing that maybe prince died from the flu. 57yearold guy, probably otherwise in good health. Could that actually happen . Absolutely. One of the things that makes me suspicious of that is that he had a8 f plane making an landing and was taken to the hospital suffering from the flu. He reportedly had the flu for three weeks which is a u time. The flu is one of what we call a great enabler. What does it enable . 4l from the flup few pneumonia. You got to wonder if he was battling pneumonia, if the hospital sent him out treating fort pneumonia, then it got worse. He also had a seizure disorder, epilepsy since he was a child. What medications was he on to suppress the seizures that could also have suppressed breathing. The other thing is risk of heart attack when you have the flu increases by two to three times. And he was 57. Weve been reporting before you got here that prince had said that he, through divine intervention, had been cured of7 epilepsy. I dont know if kids sometimes grow out of that disorder as well. But the interesting verydr 6n good point. The other interesting thing is that he apparently went to a dance show theo next night a he made that Emergency Landing in illinois and went to the hospital for three hours. So when youre suffering with a bad bout of the flu,k b can it debilitating at one moment anda the next you feel it can be episodic. You also brought to mind something i havent mentioned, when you are on a plane there is also the risk of blood clots. Theres also the risk of blood clots when you suffer from the flu and are in bed for three pin weeks. Pneumonia comes to my mind, heart attack, embolism. All of these things can cause death. He must have been really ill on that plane from atlanta. We allgb know how private he wa. For him to land in the middle of nowhere and go to the hospital and have the press start wondering why is prince at the hospital we know are leaks even though itr be confidential. He must have been really ill. Because the. ÷h i flu the t9 of 10 is not treated at the hospital. Theres over 100,000 hospit hospitalizations a year from the flu but those are the only bad cases. They didnt keep him that long. People are going to say did they keep him long enough . Did he have a secondary3b÷ prob . Or maybe he left on his own. Can a person at a hospital say i feel better . Absolutely. And someone like prince would be one of those people that might say that because he7d÷ isnt somebody that liked to be kept down. As you said, he was already out dancing. Stand by. I want to hear now from a deejay who says that he worked at princes studio in minnesota and that he touches a little bit on the singers healthxma as well. Im here because im close with the paisley park 04sv i deejayed for prince for the last 2 1 2 yeana1 2 ouyears out. Got to meet him and be around him during that time. Hes just a great individual. Its still a shock. Just to hear the news this morning of what was going on. I had to come out here. This cant be true. This cant be true. And for all those that are out there, he was a great guy. Gave me the opportunity toi4ou what i can do and come out here and deejay for him. Just prayers and thoughts go out to all family members and fansh out there. Were you here saturday . I was here. Did he say anything6 io abot feeling well . No. He came ec8 he looked like he was in good spirits. He basically said when you hear news, give it a couple days before you waste any wjygypraye. Looked great. We were all like hes on the up swing. He talked about going on tour again and dates would be released once he felt better. But his voice was just a little raspy but nothing that you would say hes in more Severe Health than what web]ynthought. There was no indication though he didnt say he was feeling well . He just kind of alluded to it but not as much. Basically just told us, when you hear news, give it a couple days before you waste any prayers. Were all like, all hes onpyy the comeback. We knew that he had been strug sling with the from you for the last couple weeks and he had to cancel aj was he a Pretty Healthy guy . As far as i know. Definitely. Ia no. None of that at all. Listening to the interview of the deejay for prince who saw him frequently who just recently saw him over the weekend when he came back to minnesota after being ill after a concert in atlanta, making that Emergency Landing in illinois and going to the hospital. I want to bring back in dr. Siegel and lauren green on the set with azme. Lauren green grew up with prince in the same neighborhood. Dr. Siegel, for your medical advice. We are hearing from somebody who was with him saturday night while he is giving a concert. Lets just say that when youre performing if youve ever watched prince live or on tv, it is not like he just stands with a mike and doesnt take a lot of energy, hes dancing all over the place, putting himself into this. How do we explain that he could have felt well enough to do that saturday, then gone back downhill. Ill tell you what goes through my mind. Flu can be episodic, you it come backf÷ cz one day worst than th next. But it wumakes me wonder about heart attack or seizure, because he had the history. That risk of heart disease, by the way, lasts for couple of weeks after you recover from the flu. It is something that some proteins that are released in the f; blood increase your ris. At 57 years old hes already at risk just by his age. ndcc really in this age and day were thinking 57, not old at all. Well, it is the number one killer in the united states, heart disease. Again im not diagnosing this. I dont have enough information. I dont have his irecords. Buta z when we just heard that s sudden like this, it makes me4 wonder of a sudden heabt l atta. It is interesting because we hear you should get your2n vaccine every year. I onlyrq i was pregnant because. ; it mandatory. Now i do that for my kids and i know there is a lot of controversy o over these vaccine. What is your message . Whatsl march was a particularly bad flu month. Right when prince was suffering from it, a lot of people were. Of course the message ef could it be possible that people around him and could have the flu hits you suddenly. You get very weak. You get muscle aches, afq; feve headaches. You know the flu when you see it usually. All right. I want to look now at this tweet thats been put out by theimqg Carver County sheriff in the la region chanhassen, a suburb of minneapolis where prince lived. Sheriff just tweeted this out. Prince Rogers Nelson, 57, found dead at8[w paisley park studio chanhassen, minnesota. We are investigate egg the circumstances of his death. Lauren green, you are the religion correspondent here at fox but youve been a reporter doing investigations and anchoring local markets. Thats where you once again came in contact with prince as an anchor. We were discussing police have to investigate this especially if there was nobody else at the home at the time and we dont know who found him. That tweet sounds very subversive like there is96b5d something going on that we are investigating. But thats just standard operating procedure. He didnt die at a hospital. Dr. Siegel can corroborateod th. There wasnt medical staff around to engage the specific cause of death. He died in his home. As far as we know, no medical staff was around and we dont even know who was there at the time. So the investigators have to say we have to investigate this death. He is a public figure. It would be the same as any politician or actor or anyone who was famous died in a place that was not angmaq official pl like a hospital. So doctor, there were some reports that came out that said he had had shallow breathing in 911 call came in it was about breathing. Ym8 would that be sim psymptomatic flu . Absolutely. It could u n from an infection or from this heart disease. Anyone suffering from a heart problem would be short of breath. It is hard to believe that he was out there dancing in a concert if he wasn suffering frm pneumonia. Pneumonia. A x has to be to account. Something lauren said that i think is really important here is how observed was he . You know something . You could have something thats bothering you that you could ge saved from if the ambulance comes soon enough. Who was observing him and how quick were they to call 911 . Those are the things we need answers to. Sometimesge iq people are around celebrity they dont think that this person could ever die because they are who they are but they are human and they can die and sometimes that hesitation can bring on the problems that cause the death. Thats such a great point because it could preclude somebody from maybe calling right away because he was so immensely private. There are so many different variables. Or maybe none of that happened at all. But again i just think it is fascinating that he knew himself, he was sick enough to land that plane over the weekend. When he was on his way back from atlanta and get help at the hospital there in illinois. In the meantime now, lets listen to a fan who talks about exactly what prince said saturday night at this concert where he revived himself, and is thisqre÷ messaging about not worrying, is there something cryptic in it. Listen to this. He came out and2bdby he spok us about what happened andk] was very cool. It was like, i always felt like we were his family because there were only 200 of us there. And he would walk around, no big deal, with us. So it was always very laid back. So he talked about what happened and said he was okay and he said, dont waste your prayers on me right now. And wait a few days. But there was something about it. 4k dont waste your prayers on so manya zv famous songs have written by prince. A ton of them that never even got developed. Im sure that there are many more. Im just assuming but i remember years ago that they had the vault. Im sure that or later, theyll probably be out there. What about1 3r depressions . Isnt it so that a lot of people have that feeling like from that song . Maybe he knew something was going to happen to him . An advanced sense that something terribleo williams just passedway or merlecar haggard. Merle haggan 8n he said that he felt like he wav going to die on this particular day. I think sometimes people do have premonitions. Ive not studied this but ive heard many, many times people have premonitions about i think that my time is i can just speak for my own brother who was battling cancer and checked himself in to a hospice because he knew thel 0 e was up. The time is close. Whether they have a definite premonition that it is going to be over soon, i dont know. But i this ink there is a turn that perhaps they take that says something is not the wayn÷ it w. If you were joining us now, prince has died today at his home in chanhassen, minnesota. He was only 57 years old. He had the last couple of weeks. Canceled a concert recently. Couple of days ago when he was flying back from that concert in illinois. Went to the hospital for]x u th hours. As we remember today the life of prince. I didnt believe it. He was just here saturday. He was just here saturday. He was fine. So7 he became this musician, and my mom was a teachers aide at the high school. She said the kid always want flight time to play at their bands flight time was a name in the neighborhood, and prince was part of the scene some she knew prince from being the teachers aide at the high school, and then he became prince. One year the local paper is doing a story about this kid who plays all these instruments insd produces his own albums and two years later hi is world nine. At the bar we were talking to the owner a while ago where he launched his career, and the movie purple rain and i used to see him there in the corner, standing with tall boots on, and the next second he was larger than life. He would be out there in the crowd just hanging out, talking to people or standing in a corner, being very quiet. He wrote so many other songs for famous musicians and youre minnesota, garrison keeler, prince, bob dylan . From minnesota. The vikings. Thank you for mentioning the vikings. Im still a huge fan. Lauren . Im a big vikings fan. I have suffered through four super bowl hases. Me, too. Lauren, lets talk about the influence in the music world that prince and for his 57 years but now continuing on even after he this is rich music culture in minneapolis, the twin cities, and and goes both ways, classical and pop music. I think the legacy of prince will be that after his death we will now find out how much influence he really did have. I think that when he was alive, i think a lot of people, including me, probably took him for granted. Its prince, yes, were proud of prince. And now i think the accolades will come. I think streets will be named after him, music schools. I think that perhaps even grade schools will be named after him. The neighborhood, because he had such an incredible influence. Were talking about everybody grew up with prince. The something thing is he was writing his memoir, which i find fascinating, for this immensely private person. Whoever convinces him to put down in word what his wife was about, even though he did the movie purple rain which was his life. The idea he would release a memoir in new york city next year, 2017, fine that fascinating and who knows what happens to that work now. I would be surprised if it wasnt finished already, knowing how quickly or long it takes for books to become published i was in a video, and it was the long version where i was a newscaster introducing. I pitched to christy alley, the reporter on the scene, and prince came out and they were dancing and it was, i am prince and i am funky. Quick question about his dancing he had chronic hip problems. I was told he had special made shoes. Stand by. Celebrities are reacting, Justin Timberlake writing numbed, stubbed, cant believe it. Katy perry, just like that the world lost a lot of magic, rest in peace, prince, thank you for giving so much. Diana janes us with her take. Thank you for having me. What a loss. I just checked twitter 37,500,000 tweets about princes life and lost, Barbara Streisand writing she is so sad to hear about his passing. When the news broke in the newsroom you could hear everybody say, no. This is shocking to us. He was a very private person so we did not know if he was sick, what exactly happened, only rumors he was suffering from the flu. So, diana, because you have covered the music world and i know were hearing from celebrities. What drew think the impact will we on the musician world . I think its an incredible. He changed the tapestry of the Music Industry. He was an artist that wrote, that played, and that discovered a lot of talent. When you think about all of the proteges he had, like sheen yaa easton and carmen elect central. He was able to mold talent and the fact he could play multiple instruments. He was an incredible prodigy. Just another manic monday, he wrote. All these songs for other famous singers, he was the songwriter. So writing them for them and himself as well. Diana, thank you. Thank you. Let me just end with dr. Siegel again, im assuming well get the medical examiner report sometime soon, but how long does that take . Well, the initial report will be over the next few days, say, week. If they have to send out special tests that could take a couple of weeks. Basic cause of death, heart, pneumonia, breathing, a respiratory arrest . We should have that over the next few days. Lauren green, thank you for being here for the hour and
