On the Broken Spoke folks show public radio that's a song called Lost Dogs and in term her album undercurrent which came out just like a few we a week or something before she appeared at the live oak Music Festival this past year for me it was one of the standout performances Sara DROs really incredible and that album won the International Folk Music Grammy Award album of the year pretty darn cool and it was awesome to see before she won the Grammy at the level of music festival as speaking of live oak you know a lot of new acts have been announced Ozomatli is going to be there Paul Thorn l.b. I am going to play some songs have been listening to this week thinking a lot about what's going on in this country recently and I've been listening to some songs that you know kind of expressed my feelings and so I thought I'd play some of them for you starting out with this one from Tracy Chapman on public radio . Talking about. As indeed it is as a song from Todd Rundgren it was written by Todd Rundgren and recorded with Utopia and that's the version that I know the best but most people know the more familiar a version that was actually hit for England Dan and John Ford Coley love a is the answer no matter how many times you go around and around and around and around really that is the only way to get through it all love is the answer just like that quote I keep bringing up from Pete Seeger that he's got a head on his banjo this machine surrounds hate and forces it to surrender and it's through the force of love and the force of music that we can all unite we heard that song. Is the answer from Utopia we heard the lies a guilt this in with a song called Great Correction that she actually wrote in 2008 but pressure released today she brethen she's been rethinking the lyrics of that song and decided to release a new video. If you go online and look up that Eliza Gilkyson Great Correction new song you'll see the new very current video that she's just recently put out about that song lies again very prolific songwriter insightful. Songwriter that has a lot to say including that one that was on her 2008 album beautiful world we heard of a group called entrance with a song that I heard for the 1st time this week and thought was really powerful it's called not going to say your name before that Greg Brown or he had a couple of phone calls on that one Nope that's not on any album and it's only available once again it's available online and you'll just have to go look up Greg Brown's new song he's put out a music video he's wearing a very fetching red beanie and singing that song and it's one that he may like I think his voice sounds great we also heard Dan Burton know become one in the axis of descent that is a group Dan Burton noble Khan was actually a guy and he's put out a song held Revolution 9.01 to slightly better than Revolution Number 9 and Tracy Chapman started out the set for us with talkin about a rebel revolution from her very 1st self-titled album. Ok now the one of those concerts to tell you about that I promised to I said when I started the show this afternoon that I was going to divulge all of the information about all of the local upcoming concerts and I'm doing my darndest I got to tell you but there sure there sure is a lot going on I mean I could just stay on the air telling you about all these cool things that are there happened but right now I'll tell you about the Evie Laden band even Laden she was at Live Oak not once but twice if I remember correctly and she also played here live on the broken spoke last year and she is playing a house concert now these wonderful people that put on house concerts we kind of my hat is off to you man because we just do not have enough small venues in this area and so it's always great when these folks put on these these house concert shows so the Eevee Laden band she's very very interesting she's got to. A really unique sound a very folk based and she does this cool what the heck do they call that thing clogging it's not really clogging Merissa would know she told me that when I saw her do it but she does this thing where even Laden's got this board that she puts down and she does his percussive thing with their feet that really cool and she'll be playing that house concert to night and as far as I understand tickets are still available at brown paper tickets dot com and also a booboo records and once you buy the ticket it's like this who cool secret deal once you buy the ticket that's how you get the address to the house for the house concert so well once again tickets for the even they didn't show available at records or brown paper tickets dot com going to play you something from her right now on public radio Ok c.b.x. . That thing that's what I'm talking about she's doing that with her feet. Here don't go. Given one more day. And that is the devil makes 3 on the Broken Spoke show here on this very radio station public radio never learn we heard Bonnie Raitt in there write me feel your lines Bonnie Raitt is a lot of things to a lot of people but she is an amazing slide guitar player we are the blood brothers in there with one more day I always play that song i'm feel low but down because her mind to mean that nothing lasts forever we heard Doc unmoral Watson was Leyden Delta and the Evie Laden band started things out with an instrumental there they do a lot of vocals too Songbird Blues back steps Indy and that thing yeah that thing she does is called clogging she does some really rhythmic percussive very fun things while she's performing her band is really hot too they do all kinds of folkies stuff and it's just the amazing live show as I mentioned they've been at the Live Music Festival a couple of times been here on the Broken Spoke to the live performance and they're playing tonight at 8 house concert tickets and more information available records and brown paper tickets the concert is tonight in St Louis.
