The Court Dismissed an appeal, filed by former division of criminal investigation supervisor larry hedlund, saying it wasnt filed on time. Today, jurors in the firstdegree murder trial of a man charged in his wifes death learned about her injuries. Alexander fazzino is charged with firstdegree murder in emily fazzinos 2012 death. He told police that he found emily submerged in a bathtub. The doctor who performed emilys autopsy testified she had bruises on her forehead, arm, thigh and neck, and a bump on her forehead. The doctor also said emily had bruising on the inside of her throat, which could be from strangulation. The doctor didnt find any definitive signs of drowning. Steve a father will spend the rest of his life in prison, after being convicted in the death of his threeyearold daughter. 26yearold charles hall was sentenced last week, in the 2015 death of janyiah hall. The girl was found unresponsive at halls bedford home, last may. A fort dodge man has been given another man in a tavern parking lot. 22yearold torre mosley was sentenced yesterday, after pleading guilty to multiple charges. Mosley admitted to shooting 25yearold Damal Clayton last november, outside sneakers eatery and pub. A northeastern iowa man is dead, after his handgun accidentally fired and hit him in the leg. It happened around 12 30 this morning in elk run heights. Investigators say 45yearold Martin Lawrence returned home from work and dropped the gun, as he got out of his vehicle. It hit the ground and went off. The bullet entered his leg and traveled upward, causing internal injuries. Stacey Warren County voters get to decide whether to approve a tax that would raise their sales tax by 1 . Kccis rose heaphy is just back from Warren County. Rose, what did city leaders say about how a local option sales tax would impact them . Rose stacey, i spoke with officials from carlisle. They say local option sales tax could give the city funds it needs to improve. They say a small increase could andrew as a smaller city, were just not able to keep up with those expenses. Rose to carlisle city administration, a local sales option tax or lost would help with city improvements. Andrew its an investment. We can help with those expenses, and we can see those services improved. Rose currently, the sales tax in Warren County is 6 , or . 06 of 1. The local option sales tax would increase it by 1 making the total tax . 07 per 1. If lost passes in carlisle, the city could bring in almost 190,000 a fiscal year. Andrew 50 for public safety, and that is our police and fire. And 50 for streets and sidewalks. Rose street projects, such as improving this intersection with highway 5, that sees more than 20,000 vehicles a day. The tax would directly Impact Retail business owners, like kelly wentzel. Kelly i know it would help the community, but it may affect me. Rose at his Truvalue Hardware store, the tax may just be a few pennies to customers. But he says, it all adds up. Million in sales. Thats 10,000 that youre going to have to come up with. Rose city leaders say voters should focus on the longterm impact. Andrew its important for them to make that decision, to whether they would like to see things improve in their community and allow their city to grow. Rose voters in Warren County can send in their absentee ballots, or vote on the issue at Polling Centers on tuesday. If the local option sales tax does pass, it would go into effect on july 1. The ordinance would dictate where the panels could be located, and could require screening to shield their view from neighboring properties. Authorities say, shortly before opening fire, shooting suspect cedric ford was served with a protection from abuse order in the factory, where he worked. Ford left work, after receiving the order. He opened fire from his car, hitting someone in a vehicle. He then shot another driver and stole a car, before heading back to work. Ford shot one person in the parking lot at the excel industries plant, and another 14 inside, before Hesston Police chief Doug Schroeder shot and killed him.
