In a tv9 followup this morning. A lisbon bar owner will have to pay a fine after a fight with a man and his dog back in july. Daron whitey rubner has from a fight, while a judge has dismissed the other charge. The judge ordered rubner yesterday to pay a 500 dollar fine. Thats for assaulting Charles Russell at whiteys bar and grill on july 3rd. The assault happened after russell brought his dog into whiteys bar and grill. Russell claimed it was a service dog, and rubner asked for proof. That led to an arguement. Black hawk county officials have identified the woman who died in a crash on icy roads early wednesday morning. It happened around 5 30 on east dunkerton road near North Raymond road. Authorities say one vehicle crossed the center line and hit 21 yearold alexis behrends of dunkerton head on. Deputies say she died at the scene the other driver was not injured. Deputies say the road was 95 percent covered with ice. The Cedar Rapids Public Library is preparing for change after voters rejected a tax levy last month. Yesterday, the librarys board to talk about a part of the librarys strategic plan. The plan was originally made for three years, but because of the vote, the library is reconfiguring for budget cuts. Officials plan to hold a public input session next week. Community members will have the chahae to give their thoughts on services they think the library should cut. We want to make sure that we maximize everything that we can to continue the services and operatings that the citizens want and need. More Health Care Providers in iowa are signing up with the private companies that will manage the states Medicaid Program starting january first. Governor branstad said three Major Hospital systems have signed contracts with the managed care providers. They are university of iowa hospitals and clinics, unitypoint health, and the Genesis Health system. The three represent 33 hundred providers, including doctors, nurses, and specialists. New information shows how the four Companies Providing services to 560thousand iowans are doing in signing up medical providers. Iowa has approximately 75hundred physicians in the state. United health care of the river valley now has contracts with 85 percent. Wellcare has signed up almost 41 percent. Amerigroup now has contracts with 36 percent. Amerihealth has just 11 percent. All four managed care groups have a good number of contracts with pharmacies with percentages ranging from 79 percent to 100 percent coverage. Both have serious medical conditions and need to see three or four specialists as wewe as family doctors. It received two National Awards in 2015 due to the success of the 2014 telethon, at least 34 dining sites that were closed in june of 2014 will be able to be reopened or have reopened as of december 1st, over 300 clients have received over 4,200 meals as a result t the 2014 telethon many sites are using obsolete equipment that is 1520 years old, and is not efficient or breaks down frequently. This leads to additional repair and labor costs and also can affect food quality and availability. Jones county is stepping up its impaired drivers off the roads. Last year for example, i, myself, had about 50 operating while intoxicating cases and nearly a third of thos were drug related. Finished the federal Training Program to become a drug recognition expert or d re. Dres target and recognize drugged drivers and can identify drugs theyve had by using a 12step procedure. Sheriff greg graver doesnt think there are enough drug recognition experts in the state for such a high need. I think Everyone Needs to come together to come up with a better solution. Deputy smith says the department has s sn a lalae influx of impairededrivers with a combination of alcohol and drugs or multiple types of drugs in their system. Deputies with the Buchanan County Sheriffs Office are worried the number of crashes between cars and amish buggies will increase. They say with h wer hours of daylight, drivers are spending more time in the dark when its harder to see the buggies. Last friday, the Sheriffs Office responded to a crash west of hazleton. Theyay thats where a car hit a buggy witit7 people inside at about 45 to 50 miles per hour. No one was hurt, including the horse. The people at rangemasters a suburb of des moines say sales have increased by 32 percent in just the last 3 weeks. They say there is typically a spike in gun sales around the holidays.
