Its for emmalee jacobs who died on monday after a hit and run on the ames campus. She just graduated from center pointurbana high school last may. Search andndescue crews recovered 17yeaeaold sam kepts body in a pond off highway 141 near granger. Thats the area sam was last seen saturday leaving a house party. Officials spent hours combing through woods and ditches, even searching from the air before making the devastating discovery. A spokeswoman for the family says no mother should have to bury her child. Sammy wawatheir family, theirr flesh and blood, you know . Theyre hurting right now. Still no word yet on how this happened. Authorities say its too early to determine if its suspicious. Its been almost two weeks since authorities found 18yearold moe seds body in the cedar river. They found the watero teennbody on december 6th, and he went missing on october 22nd. There were no signs of trauma, and authorities are still trying to figure out what happened. Waterloo police are searching for the people who fired shots at a vehicle. Police say shots came from another vehicle driving near the intersection of linn and quincy streets about 11 30 yesterday morning. The shots didnt injure anyone, but they damaged a car and a home. Secretary of agriculture tom vilsack says the farm program is for those who genuinely need it. And the new farm bill allowed him to authorize the closure of the loophole and limit payments. But in the farm bill. Iowa senator Chuck Grassley had a provision that detailed specific removal of this exploit. It was approved by the house and senate. So it was supposed to be safe. They got on scene around 10 oclock last night, and stayed there for another couple of hours. First responders took one person to the hospital who had setp a tent in t tt area. The Fire Department hasnt said how severe the persons injuries were or how the fire started. Iowans using medicaid now have more time to sign up for a new program. The federal government stepped in, delaying thehe transition from a public to private system. The federal government ordered the state yesterday to delay the transiti until march 1st. The centers for medicare and Medicaid Services says the extra time will help the state move half a Million People to one of four private insurance companies. And often times they cant figure out what they need when theyre taking care of someone with a chronic condition. So our center will help them figure out what their needs are.
