The Linn County Sheriffs Office says shooting this afternoon resulted from a fight over deputies arrived at palo auto salvage on old ferry road around 4 45 this afternoon, they found 45 year old Melvin Roberts with a gunshot wound in the leg. The Sheriffs Office says another man found roberts trespassing, and shot him when an argument got heated. They expect roberts to be okay. State lawmakers heard about privatized medicaid, as the Health PolicyOversight Committee held its first meeting since the transition. Three private insurance companies, called mcos, took over in april. Lawmakers spent much of the four hour meeting reviewing a report on the first months of the new system. State overseers said mcos are meeting obligated benchmarks and many payment issues are being worked out. They also reported iowa has saved millions of dollars. Pattison has to implement a well monitoring program. And it has to pay for any well damage from the mining. Pattison still needs a conditional use permit from the Clayton County board of adjustment. Today dakota access, which is building the bakken oil pipeline, asked a federal judge in des moines to issue a restraining order against two protest groups and their leaders.
