"it is pretty strange, it's pretty strange, to put something like that out with such little information, right before an election. " is trying to capitalize on the fbi's recent announcement . campaigning yesterday in colorado, trump said clinton's actions while secretary of state are exactly what he plans to fix in washington. "we must, and we will, save america. and that is why my contract with the american voter begins with a plan to end government corruption and to take our country back from the special interests and an abc news tracking poll shows trump trailing clinton by only 1 percent. over the years, candidates running for president all the way down to the state house use different approaches to their campaign ads. we spoke with the gazette's erin jordan last week about political ads and the difference between going negative and staying positive. "there's a lot of studies showing that negative ads are actually the most effective. we don't always like them. they do stick with voters a way positive campaigns don't. morning, people in are waking up outdoors in cedar rapids. they're not camping, but instead are raising awareness about homelessness in linn county. area nonprofits estimate homelessness affects about 5-thousand people in linn county. more than 25-hundred are children, and help is difference. that's why for the 11th year in a row, you'll find people in cardboard shacks at vets memorial stadium in cedar rapids. tv9's phil reed takes us to sleep out for the homeless. members of the linn county veteran affairs say on any given night there are more than 400 homeless people in the county. this event hopes to raise awareness on the problem. people from all over came to spend the night at be like to be homeless. some set up tents to sleep in, while others built forts. they also got to learn more about shelters in the area. organizers say bringing more affordable housing to the area could help curb the homeless problem. " "most people can maintain a standard of living if only 30% of their income goes toward housing. but with the rent rates in our community a lot of people making minimum wage pay more than that for their rent and so it only takes one setback for the to be behind on their rent. " " the goal was to raise more than 15 thousand dollars during the event. that money will go to help the shelters in the area. in cedar rapids phil reed kcrg tv-9 news the hillary clinton campaign is working hard to win votes in iowa. less than a week after clinton campaigned in iowa herself, her vice presidential nominee comes to the state. virginia senator tim kaine is scheduled to stop in kaine is expected to talk about clinton's economic policy. clinton's campaign has not announced an exact time and location for the event. in the race for senate in iowa, the des moines register editorial board is endorsing chuck grassley. the newspaper made the announcement yesterday. the board says it picked the 6-term senator because of his willingness to work across the aisle. grassley is up against former lieutenant governor patty judge. a recent quinnipiac university poll shows grassley it lead. a newly renovated health center was the site of a special halloween themed open house saturday. eastern iowa health center held the event to celebrate the multi-million dollar renovations to its pediatric and family practice facility. families were able to trick or treat through the halls and view the renovated lobby and exam rooms. the center provides primary healthcare services to the community, regardless of their ability to pay. e-i-h-c served 40 thousand people last year. and moved back two weeks ago, so it's a beautiful facility and we're grateful to be back home." this is just the start for eihc's growth. it's also opening a dental care facility, and an urgent care clinic next year. we are learning more about a pharmacy technician who allegedly stole opioids and watered down drugs given to patients. officials say the technician stole fentanyl from 252 vials and replaced it with saline solution at the iowa board of pharmacy says the tech asked the board to cancel his registration. that means he would be no longer licensed to practice in the state. the board's executive director, andrew funk, says he can't say how long the tech was licensed in iowa. complaints against pharmacists are confidential unless it becomes necessary for disciplinary action.
