The biggest thing we see is cracked phones that's a big issue and if they don't want to change it if they don't have insurance we will put a strain protector on it so it doesn't fall off so the glass stays there until they're ready for an upgrade we do a lot of things in working with the rewards programs and inside of the corporate entity that makes the decisions about how you get new phones and everything we're very talented at being able to call and say hey I know that I have a renewal for a long time but let's talk about this and and let's get them something done we're really good at that I think the next thing that's coming is the predictive things so I quit because Siri I need milk Siri remind me when I drive past Safeway to pick up milk and it does and I think for a lot of us out here in the hinterlands that's kind of out there in many ways because we're so used to having to be so for liable but these things will actually help us do this stuff. 'd there are a great many opportunities for the person interested in the natural wildlife in our region to enjoy being in nature and finding a wide variety of animals and plants Roosevelt while being one of the signature animals for our area they are animals that are forest creatures in the truth sense of the word in fact they enjoy open lands and will stay around the forest edges for protection and cover from the weather. The Roosevelt elk is named after President Teddy Roosevelt males or Bulls average about $875.00 pounds with the females or cows tipping the scales at us about $700.00 pounds these are the largest antlers of all species reaching up to 4 feet with their distinctive 3 point tip while their range is now throughout the coastal mountain range in our area and the Cascades north of here in our area there are 4 or 5 locations where they are most apt to be observed the herds are most often seen around the little red schoolhouse by the stone lagoon around Davidson Road that's the road from the redwood highway to gold locks Beach State Park as well as inside Redwood National Park and along the roadway through this whole area of humble County it's not uncommon to see the long the ocean beach or along Redwood Creek on the gravel bars Roosevelt are more active during the morning and evening hours but during the cooler months of the year you may also see them somewhat active throughout the daytime and regardless of the activity level if the elk appears to be somewhat lackadaisical don't let that little you into a false sense of security these massive creatures can still be quite unpredictable during the fall calving and reading season did you know that elk and moose are related to each other another question often asked is about the horns and how quick they grow somewhere between $10.00 to $12.00 inches a month. Their signature creature you'll see in the area northern spotted owls while this bird is currently listed as an endangered species the habitat they prefer isn't old and 2nd growth forest which we have many one of the more interesting things about the appearance of Spotted Owls is that they don't have tufts around their ears giving their heads a circular appearance tend to be brownish in color and have large. Spots than many other of the species they eat squirrels rats and bats as well as other owls this is no lightweight Al there's quite a large range where the birds live up and down the West Coast of the county but they are all well recognized in our area. All the girls are another bird that's found throughout our region the species found in our region is the northern bald eagle Why is it named bald at one time all meant white which is the color of their heads they are part of the same family that has as members kites and hawks which will also find throughout coastal Humboldt County we also have a larger agree of a grits a populate the region around. It's located on one of the islands and humble Bay in a stand of trees that were planted by the community once located on one of the islands in the bay eager to tend to be white in appearance you'll see them standing in the areas around humble Bay but will also hunt in the lagoon much flats and the slew surrounding the bay and around the rivers and streams of our area eager to hunt in shallow water and salt water or fresh water swamps and marshes either by themselves or in groups once they find prey they often will be still until plucking fish or amphibians out of the water but sometimes they simply stand still and wait for their prey to come to them. Eager to part of the Heron family you'll also see the occasional blue heron around tumble but this is less likely to occur. It seems as if the most prevalent ocean birds in the area are seagulls or California their heads are white and they have a yellow bill they prefer to eat insects and fish that are well known for scavenging at the docks as well they also are regularly seen around garbage cans pretty much California goals will find you if they think you have food for some family fun consider having little ones in your family Terra pieces of bread or a loaf of bread to feed to the gulls. The California Gold Like most gulls is an opportunistic feeder eating pretty much whatever they can forage for in fact there are times when the goals fly with their mouth open in order to capture whatever may be in the air but they prefer fish grain fruit and turkey sandwiches both parent share in the responsibilities they each then 3 or 4 hours on the nest and then rotate off the number of eggs or clutch ranges one to 4 and the next can be made of pretty much anything including feathers and bones leaves and branches but also scrapped into the dirt or sand. These are just a few of the critters and wildlife you can expect to find throughout the year in our area hopefully all the viewing of the Roosevelt all the Eagles since Eagles will be done from a healthy and safe distance binoculars are suggested for viewing the wildlife or for any of the tremendous views you'll come upon in our region Remember give yourself enough time to really appreciate enjoy and play throughout Humboldt County .
