Reporter as the community struggled to protect the city they build hundreds of thousands of sandbags and contractors to collect the asking people to leave them at their residences. The city is working with private contractors to collect the bags free of charge from residents a to wait for collection you can take them to the cedar rapids linn county solid waste agency. Regular disposal fees apply if you do that but the city hopes to reuse as much of the sand from the bags and barriers as they can. We can always use the material and contractors and information out. As i mentioned in the press conference, recycling and reuse of the material is important and we want as little the material as possible to end up in a landfill. Reporter the city has suggestions on what to do with the extra sand and echoes from cleaning up oil spills to using it as traction on sidewalks and driveways over the winter. When the mississippi floods this time of year there has to be widespread rain and thats the case over the last three months. Lets get to the satellite and here are the clouds coming in from the northeast today and winds, clouds and Cool Temperatures. Here and there are a few sprinkles of rain but nothing that amounts to a great deal. The clouds should start to break out a little bit after midnight. Everything on the radar now is very light and expected to stay that way through the evening hours. On the satellite we talked about the upper air low and where it spinning around over lower michigan, it takes the moisture from the gulf of mexico and for us that means mostly clouds. Here and there a few showers. The important part of the forecast revolves around the position of the upper air low and watch what happens as we go through sunday. It wont move very much and goes down a little bit and gets into the nokia and then backs up into illinois. Finally by saturday was back sunday its still working its way out of michigan. The next four or five days a wont move much and that means our weather is status quo around eastern iowa. Not much rainfall but from time to time we have clouds and Cool Temperatures. Rainfall forecast through sunday shows eight that might be a bit of a push. Nothing very exciting in the weather outside of Cool Temperatures we have had the past few days. Forecast tonight has partial clearing in the skies later on and lows in the mid and upper 40s around eastern iowa. North wind at 5 to 10 and tomorrow skies should be mostly sunday sunny and too late in the afternoon and temperatures better than today thanks to the additional sunshine but still in the 60s over much of eastern clouds coming back in friday and 67.
