Cbs 2 news is learning new details detailsabout a weekend shooting in nashua. 56yearold karl white died after being shot saturday afternoon. Authorities arrested the shooter but they havent filed charges so far. They say the shooting may have been an accident. Turning to a shooting investigation in dubuque, dubuque,where someone shot a two year old boy. It happened late sunday night on main street. First responders rushed the two year old to university of iowa hospitals and clinics. Condition. Police believe the shooting might have been an accident. So far they have not arrested anyone. Later this morning, president obama will announce controversial executive actions he hopes will decrease gun violence in america. America. Some of the measures expected are 200 new atf agents enforcing gun laws, 230 new fbi employees dedicated to background checks, and 500 Million Dollars for access to Mental Health care. It also expands background checks to include mandatory checks for all private sales. I think everybody here is all too familiar with the statistics. A sheriff is now telling an armed group that seized a National Wildlife refuge, its time to leave. Leave. This all started after the protest over two ranchers being sent back to prison to serve time for arson. Those two ranchers reported to a prison on monday. Now a group led by ammon bundy has sent demands to the federal government saying they want authorities to look into claims that local ranchers have been intimidated by the government. There have been some tremendous abuses. They used the courts to prosecute and to basically take the land and resources away from the people. People. Bundys father had a similar standoff with nevada in 2014. The ranchers say they dont support the actions of bundy and his group. The fbi is working to resolve the situation peacefully. The city of chicago has paid out 5Million Dollars t0 more than 57 people peoplewhose claims that they were tortured by police decades ago were found to be credible. Credible. The money was paid on monday. Most victims received checks of 100grand. The city has been receiving heavy criticism and is facing a federal civil rights investigation into their police department. Mayor rahm emanuel said that before righting more recent wrongs, the city must heal past wounds. New this morning, a former South CarolinaPolice Officer is now out on bail. Bail. Online records show Michael Slager was released about an hour after a judge allowed him to post 500 thousand dollar bond. Slager was charged with murder after a video showed him shoot a black man several times in the back following a traffic stop last april. Prosecutors opposed bail, saying he remained a flight risk. The victims family opposed it too, but urged the community to remain calm. Now to an increasingly tense middle east after saudi arbia executed a man critical of that countrys government. Government.
