People across the state are paying attention to the condition of the state address speech this year after the 2015 legislative session ended with governor vetoing bi partisan bill continuing Education Funding. Now with Education Funding still an important issue, both parties are back in des moines for 2016 with new issues to tackle the last legislative session was very disappointing in how governor branstad handled the toing Education Funding. Really rushing ahead with this Medicaid Expansion in a way that even the federal government said he needed to slow down. Recently the governor talked about his plan to ship some money from Education Funding to efforts to improve iowas water quality, which former democratic governor tom vilsack has supportedits always goingto be about education. Thats 60 of our budget. Theres gonna be alot structure and the issue that seems to be emerging here, governor branstad has put it on the table is the environment and clean water. The former pennslyvania senator will then attend private events in both cedar rapids and robins. The polls this cycle but actually won the Iowa Caucuses in 2012. A pair of candidates will be hosting events in coralville todayin just a few hours at 8 thirty, jeb bush will speak at the coralville public library. And this afternoon, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee will make an appearance at the American Legion post number 721, at one. The stage has been set for this thursdays next round of gop debates, and only seven candidates will take the stage in the primetime bout. And thats not sitting well with everyone. Rand paul and Carly Fiorina were both relegated to the early debate. Paul said hell now skip the event altogether, saying he wont participate in a secondtier faceoff. Shes charged with Second Degree murder for the death of 72yearold gary breckenridge. Investigators say flynn allegedly admitted to family members that she attacked breckenridge on january 4th. If convicted, she could face up to 50 years in prison. The Cedar Rapids Police Department Hopes to have a final policy on body cameras by the middle of the year. Year. I think it will be a little contentious but i know our representatives will be able to work it out. I hope the republicans will talk to their constituents cause weve heard from our superintendents, teachers, in the education issues weve heard from hospitals on the medicaid issues, doctors and patients. I think if they talk to constiuents those republicans ware gonna realize and we need to do some more oversight on medicaid and really make education a priority.
