On tuesday mitchell was stopped by a crpd officer during a routine Traffic Stop Police say an altercation broke out between the officer and mitchell the officer shot at mitchell and mitchell hoped back in his car tried to leave the scene but he tboned an Unmarked Police vehicle and hit several parked cars on Coe College Campus bullet lodged in the back of his spine. If he pulls through he may never walk, talk or eat on his own again. Family members say this is not in mitchells character theyre not blaming police but they want answers and the naacp is backing them up this is not the first time this has happened in cedar rapids. I mean i know cr is not exempt from problems, we have the same kind of problems, we gotta look at how our officers are trained, and prepared. I mean they got a tough job, im not saying they dont have a tough job.
