This storm has been hammering south florida all day long, dropping several inches of rain and the winds are really starting to pick up. So many communities along the gulf coast now bracing for Tropical Storm gordon. In new orleans, they are already preparing for a lot of wind and rain. And were seeing some voluntary evacuations for residents outside areas protected by the levee system. Tom . All right, Victor Oquendo for us tonight. Victor, thank you. Ginger zee has been tracking Tropical Storm gordon all day. Ginger, take us through the track of this storm and the timing, and your biggest concern tonight. Reporter my biggest concern is rain with this system, tom. And we see the center of Tropical Storm gordon just west of the peninsula of florida. So, the heaviest rain falling tonight from naples to ft. Myers. You could see up to eight inches. But this thing is going to race to the westnorthwest and move through the gulf, intensifying, could become a category 1 hurricane before it makes landfall late tuesday night, more likely early wednesday morning. The heaviest of the rain going to fall somewhere there between gulfport, biloxi, mobile, somewhere in there. The storm surge maximum three to five feet. Winds will gust above 75 Miles Per Hour. By the time we reach wednesday night, it will have already made its way well inland and the moisture will mix and already inundate the area in the midwest thats already been hit so hard. Now to the political Storm Brewing on capitol hill. Senate confirmation hearings for the president S Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, get under way tomorrow morning. He has been preparing for days, and so have the senators who will question him. These boxes are full of documents supporting his nomination, but it is the thousands of other documents that will not be made public that are causing an uproar. And the hearings come as the president once again took aim at his own top justice official, attorney general jeff sessions. Abcs Kyra Phillips from capitol hill tonight. Reporter tonight, the stakes couldnt be higher, and judge Brett Kavanaugh knows it, completing at least two fullday mock hearings, peppered with interruptions by fake protesters. Now accusing the white house of withholding Key Information after the Trump Administration invoked executive privilege, blocking access to 100,000 pages of documents from kavanaughs time as a close aide to president george w. Police recovering the body of boater chrisi lewis just this morning. She was 51 years old. The tragic crash happening saturday night.
