The search at a major catholic archdiocese. What authorities are looking for. And Bruce Springsteen and the revealing new interview tonight about his very personal struggle. Good evening. And its great to have you with us here on a very busy wednesday night. There are several developing stories, and were going to begin with that horrible family tragedy unfolding at this hour. At least six people feared dead in a house fire. Firefighters believe two adults and four children are among the victims, trapped inside when the house went up in flames. Fire crews running out of water in frigid temperatures, no fire hydrants. Tonight, investigators are there, asking how did this happen, and was there any foul play . Abcs alex perez on the scene, leading us off tonight from indiana. Reporter tonight, indiana reporter tonight, its a family horror just now unfolding. A massive fire with several family members trapped inside, just weeks before the christmas holiday. The cold weather and lack of fire hydrants making it difficult for firefighters, as the fastmoving flames engulfed the home. Emergency calls going out. There are children in the residence, were going to need multiple ambulances. Reporter police recovering six bodies. A man, a woman and four children. The youngest, just 3 months old. Two people managed to escape. These are investigators that are out, asking some questions and knocking on some doors, trying to find answers. Reporter firefighters battled the blaze for more than five hours in those windy, bonechilling conditions. The home, in a rural area north of indianapolis, and with no hydrants nearby. Teams running out of water at one point. The fire so devastating, even hours later, investigators could not enter the smoldering wreckage. Were going to consider it a criminal investigation until we find out otherwise. Alex perez joins us live from the scene tonight. I know this is all unfolding right now, but police say there was another death at another location that may be connected to all this . Reporter well, david, yes, as investigators look into the cause of this fire, authorities in a neighboring cown till are investigating the death of the father of some of the young victims killed here and whether that death is connected to this fire. David . Alex perez leading us off tonight from indiana. Alex, thank you. And also developing at this hour, the urgent hunt now for a killer in North Carolina tonight, linked to a threeweek mystery. The fbi just today confirming a grim discovery, identifying the body of a young girl kidnapped in front of her home while waiting to go to school. Police found the suv abandoned three days later, and found the girls body last night in a body of water about seven miles from her home. We have to find out how she died, who did this to her and we have to bring the person or persons responsible to justice. Reporter police had been looking to speak with the grainy figure seen here near the girls home before she disappeared. But tonight, they say theres no person of interest, and shared no information about a possible suspect. And Steve Osunsami with us live tonight, as well. Steve, you told us, theres a 30,000 reward now for nor information, but police still have many Unanswered Questions . Reporter thats right, david. So many Unanswered Questions. Its not clear at this point that police even know who o hong and her School System isng on g cors tonight for students who need 24ethem. Thank you, steve. Now to breaking developments involving President Trump and the mueller investigation. After Paul Manaforts plea deal with Robert Mueller suddenly fell apart, were now learning that manaforts lawyers were talking with the president s lawyers all along. And tonight, President Trump now suggesting hes not ruling out a pardon for Paul Manafort, saying, quote, nothing is off the table. Abcs Senior National correspondent terry moran at the white house tonight. Reporter we thought Paul Manafort had flipped on President Trump, as part of his plea deal with Robert Mueller. Now, the president s lawyer tells us manafort was cooperating with team trump all along. And tonight, the president seems to be openly dangling the possibility of a pardon, telling the new york post, its not off the table. It was never discussed, but i wouldnt take it off the table. Why would i take it off the table, he said. For months, the president tried to minimize his relationship with his former campaign chairman, while at the same time, expressing sympathy. He worked for me for a very short period of time, but you know what, he happens to be a very good person. And i think its very sad what theyve done to Paul Manafort. Reporter now, we know that after manafort cut his deal with mueller, his lawyer briefed the Trump Legal Team on what muellers prosecutors were asking, giving the president a direct view into the investigation. As manafort was feeding the president s lawyers information, trump was working on his own written responses to the special counsels questions, and today, aby news has learned about some of his answers. Sources tell abc news trump wrote he did not know about the now Infamous Trump tower meeting with donald trump jr. , soninlaw Jared Kushner and manafort met with a russian lawyer they were told had negative information about Hillary Clinton. Trump also wrote he does not recall his longtime associate roger stone telling him he was in contact with wikileaks, which published the hacked democratic emails. Stone himself has denied discussing wikileaks with the president. So, lets bring in terry moran, live from the white house. And terry, it was thought that Paul Manafort had flipped, taking that plea deal with Robert Mueller. Now you report, his lawyers kept talking with the president s legal team through all this, passing information along to them. First of all, how unusual is this, and is it you a lowed . Reporter it is unusual for sure, david. It is allowed. Its risky for manafort to possibly alien nate the prosecutors who he cut a deal with. And the real question is, did manafort and President Trump have any conversations about President Trump issuing a pardon in exchange for manafort holding back . That would be trouble for manafort and President Trump. All right, terry moran at the white house. Terry, great to have you. Now to ivanka trump tonight. For the first time, answering questions about using private email for her work at the white house. Heres abcs Deborah Roberts with the interview. Hi, everyone hi how are you . Good. It has come to light that early in the administration, you used your private email for white house business. Your father had taken Hillary Clinton to task for this, so how did you wind up in a similar situation . Well, there really is no equivalency. All of my emails that relate to any form of government work, which was mainly scheduling and logistics and and managing the fact that i have a home life and a work life, are all part of the public record. Reporter but your father hammered Hillary Clinton on this, said that it was criminal, she should be locked up. I think shes pathetic. I think she should be a jail for what she did with her emails. Okay . Reporter so the idea of lock her up doesnt apply to you . No. Reporter we asked about tear gas used at the border. Her father has defended it. Gassing families, children. How have you responded to those images . I think, like any other person with a heart, its devastating to see the images and and seeing children put at risk. It makes me angry that we havent been able to come together as a nation and change our laws. Reporter but like her father, she warns of criminals among the migrants. He has said there are criminals in that caravan. How do we know this . Its well documented. I mean, its well documented that there are criminal elements within the caravan. Reporter as for her fathers controversial policies, she says she speaks up privately. So you do disagree with him from time to time . Oh, frequently, and he knows it. I share with him very candidly my thoughts. But i wasnt elected as president of this country by the people of this country. And Deborah Roberts is right here with us tonight. Ivanka trump willing to take some tough questions there on emails and tear gas on the border, for example. Reporter she was willing to answer a lot of challenging questions, david, including those about tensions in this country and those who say her father is adding to a hateful climate. She disagrees, says she knows whats in her fathers heart. And as for people that think she should be a moderating force, she said its not her position, but shell continue to speak her mind behind closed doors. Deborah roberts reporting tonight. Thank you.
