Even though the group that took over the malheur wildlife refuge had guns and threatened to use them, they werent charged with crimes against police. Karen . karen castro unlike the other ballot measures were been talking about all week, question five question five is proposing continuing the current gas tax for another decade, in order to fund road improvement projects. karen castro the future of valley roads is in the hands of voters. Question five is proposing extending fuel revenue indexing for another 10years. In 2013, commissioners approved a three year gas tax. That expires at the end of this year. tina quigley general manager, rtc we really wanted to promote the fact that over the three years. This new Revenue Source had allowed us to do projects that we otherwise would not have been karen castro the proposed tax hikes would be based on an annual inflation rate. With a 7point8 percent cap. By rtc calculations, it will cost the average driver a quarter per day. Projections show drivers will pay almost onedollar in fuel tax per gallon at the end of the 10years. Question five may fund up to 3billion dollars worth of road projects through bonds. But those who have spoke against question five say voting yes on this question could mean ten separate tax increases, nearly doubling our gas tax related to indexing.
