Look at her hair. We decided to do a throwback picture. And in addition, thats where i got the hair. In addition, it is also alanas birthday. Thats tammy, our executive producers baby girl. Happy birthday to everybody. So we have big news in the Tori Spelling world. Yes. I havent seen what were about to see. Tori and her husband, you guys know that they have they were separated for a bit, and now theyre trying to repair the relationship, and theyre doing it on a reality show, and its called true tori. And he just got out of rehab for issues. And he has confessed apparently to cheating on her with a 28yearold woman last december. Theyre just now starting to release some clips from this upcoming show when we wondered what it would be like because this is a really critical part of their marriage. A very raw time. Yeah. Take a look. I just want to tell you something. Its a girl, and shes claiming that she had an affair with dean in toronto when he was there. The girl has come forward, shes put her name to the story, shes giving all the details about her twoday affair with your husband in toronto. And its going to come out next week. Christmas. Yeah. Im just always so uncomfortable when you know, when people dont take the time privately away to do your healing and that sort of thing, i like tori. You know that. Yeah. I just feel bad for the family. But you have to ask why are they doing it . I wish they would given an answer for that. Maybe theyre trying to help people. I know shes trying to save her marriage, im always all for trying to save the marriage, but i truly see cameras and i think thats the fastest way to ruin everything. We talked about this, every time a camera shows up somewhere, everything changes. It changes the whole dynamic. This even happened to me a lot in the news division. I remember every time there would be a protest and signs were down on the ground and sitting there and they would watch us roll up and suddenly there would be chanting and screaming. And that happens no matter where you go. The cameras show up, dynamic changes. Well be curious to see what happens there. Anyway, they just started filming things. So were going to be seeing more of that. Its almost like realtime, too. That interview might have happened a week ago, it is pretty quick turn around for these things. Can we talk about something i love and you dont . Yeah. Okay. The real housewives of atlanta. Something happened in the real housewives of atlanta. Let me know when its over. No, it can get wild. This is a big deal. There is an arrest warrant issued for portia. Kenya they had one of those reunions. Reunion shows. Kenya and portia apparently had a runin. Kenya called the cops, 911. Im going to in a minute. Okay. And saying shed been assaulted. All right. There is audio of no, not yet. There is audio of the 911 call. Why do you need police, maam . Ive just been assaulted. Who assaulted you, maam . Portia williams. Portia williams . Okay. Yes. Okay. So anyway, portia was mad because apparently kenya said something about her husband or exhusband or something. Anyway, there is apparently police are now charging porsha with a count of battery. This is escalating to criminal activity. The real housewives of atlanta, by the way, are the most widely watched housewives franchise of all of them. I have a hard time believing any of it is real, any of it. Its real that she was booked and released. They were doing the reunion show, she never would have had the altercation to begin with. Youre right. Lets watch a teeny bit of the reunion show. I said what i said what you said was some bull [ bleep ]. Youre a slut from the 90s. Shut up. You do not have the right to talk. Wait a minute now. No, no, no, no. When you get up on each others chest, i would win. Nbc did reach out to bravo. And you know what . We havent heard from them. No, we did. I didnt want our record to be broken. But you know what they said . No comment. I would rather they not call. Unless you have a comment do not call us. We could get andy on the phone. Andy cohen, we have him on speed dial, practically. We do. We should. By the way, he wants to come back and host with you, elvis. Elvis. I did a radio show with him yesterday. Elvis duran. And he was saying, could you go to another funeral so i can come on and hang with hoda . Hes so bad. Hes so bad. I said everybody is nice and healthy, but he wanted me to say hello. Tell him hi for me. This is something we are excited about. Because we cannot believe that there are how many . 12 ladies . 12 women in the world who actually believe that the person that they are interacting with is harry prince harry of england fame. Its a show called i want to marry harry. Who doesnt . These girls joined this reality show. I thought the concept was they were auditioning and they would meet him. No, theyre actually theyve already met him. Theyre in the hot tub with him. Theyre at barbecues. Theyre swapping spit. They think harry is next to them in the hot tub. Its unbelievable. All right, so we see harry every day on the news. Anyway, heres a commercial. Lets see. I want to see what he looks like. 12 american women they could win a royal fairy tale wedding. And they believed us. Thats prince harry . From the network that brought you joe millionaire comes a series with a wicked twist. I hope i have what it takes to pull it off. You wont believe how far we go to convince them. Its real. Youre going to want to be there when he reveals the truth. There is one more thing you should know. I wanna marry hairy. Prince hair rry. Harry potter. I dont care. It looks like him. If youre not studying him. Hes tall, hes got the red hair. I just look at the split. Its close. But not exactly. Do they ever watch the news to discover that he was like in antarcti antarctica . Hes not in a hot tub with you. He was in antarctica. But no, no. Some of them say, in fairness, well, i want to do this because even if i dont marry harry, it will be good for my acting career or my singing career or my okay. Time will tell. Im going to make you happy right now. Youre going to be happy. This is an ihoda youre going to love. Have you ever had dont play it yet have you ever had one of these great days, where it is a perfect day . Yeah. Been a while, but yeah. You wish there would be more days like this. Havent you used this one before . Its a little older. Its a van morrison throwback because it is throwback thursday. Days like this. Well, its not always raininging therell be days like this when theres no one complaining therell be days like this everything falls into place like the flip of a switch well, my mama told me there would be days like this little more. I dont mind. You like it . Sure. I like van morrison a lot. When there is hurt there will be days like this when no ones in a hurry therell be days like this whos happier than hoda . I dont think theres a happier human being except for the 12 girls in the hot tub with harry. In the world. Okay, i agree with you. One more verse. Maybe we could. No because we have to do okay or not okay, hoda woman. Okay . All right. Is it okay or not okay to complain about being too pretty . Oh, lord. Here is what we had to say about it. I think the benefits far outweigh the negatives. Be grateful. Plastic surgery is expensive, i know. Just kidding. Heres what i have to say. No, its not okay. Waa, waa. Wow. Stop whining. Wow. Heres the thing. When rob lowe says it in an article, whats missing again is tone. Rob lowe is so selfdeprecating. I did something with him and the great actress Eileen Brennan years ago for a pilot or something. And the kid was maybe 14 at the time. He was just so drop dead gorgeous. Jawdroppingly gorgeous. You cant its not like he cant notice that, right . Right. But when he says something about his looks or something, hes being selfdeprecating. Right. And you know, lighten up. All right. We got to give a shoutout to our derby hat contest. Were going to announce our Kentucky Derby hat contest once again. Just refresh your memory. This was last years winning hat. Now, you can make your own hat. Dont make one like carries. Make your own. Send your photos of your original hat and creation for a chance to win a trip for two to the Kentucky Derby. Dont miss the results of our ambu ambush makeover. And the New York Times calls her one of our most formidable stage actresses. The awardwinning tyne daly. But first these messages. All right. If you recognize this song im sure you do. Its the theme song from the 1980s series hit cagney and lacey in which tyne daily starred as detective Mary Beth Lacey earning her four emmy awards. She has moved on. And she has an unbelievable career. Two more emmys and a tony and she hasnt taken a year off from acting since 1968. Right now shes she didnt know that. We researched it. Impressive. Yeah. Shes starring in a wonderful new play on broadway called mothers and sons. Were delighted you came to see us. Because you have a show tonight, dont you . I do have a show tonight. And three yesterday. You look good. This is with terrence mcnally. Terrence mcnally, a wonderful playwright. This is his somewhere between 16th and 20th show on broadway, depending on your source. But we did master class together a couple of seasons ago and fell in love. So he made this play for me. And its wonderful. Your character evolves so much throughout the 90 minutes youre on stage. Tell us how you start out and how you wind up. She starts as a closed fist. And by the end theres a little light at the end of the tunnel. Its a wonderful play. Its funny and smart and trajic and heartbreaking like me. Is she having difficulty accepting certain things as reality in her life . Is that whats going on with her . About her son . Im looking at myself. I got lost. Nobody listens to me anyway. Its fine. Looking at your wig. Its a good wig. Excellent wig. Jordy sheppard. Shes been doing our wigs since gypsy, which is 25 years or more. I cant believe its that long. You enjoy the stage, the live reaction, the audience right there. I do. I love being in the room with the people im telling the story to. Film is frozen. Live is im there. And besides that, they cant save it or zip through the dull bits. You know. They have to take the trip with me. And i take it with them. So thats really fun for an actor. More and more in the world of reality, socalled reality television, you cannot fake theater. Its so real and so intimate. Its there. And theyre there. And also the best part is you get to learn your job. In television and film, every day youre making up a little piece of it. A couple of five minutes, four minutes, two minutes. This way you learn your job from beginning to end and it is like surfing. You get on the wave and go all the way ebb and flow, yeah. Well, its so terrific to see you here. Why have you not taken a year off since 1968 . Im trying to stay out of the way of the children. You have three daughters . I have three daughters and theyre grownups and they have their lives. So i have to like not interfere too much. If i was around all the time. Oh, there they are. Arent they delightful. Are any of them in the business . The one hanging on my shoulder in the pink, thats catherine. Shes an actress. The middle girl is studying alternative medicine, shes my youngest. And my big girl was a dancer. Now shes a potter and she has my grandchildren who are 20 are you kidding . And 17. And my other grandchildren are about to be 4 and 2. Oh, my god, what a great life. Life is full for tyne. And everybody wants her. I know. First choice for everybody for everything. Tyne, thank you so much. Are you in a limited run . Open for business . Everybody you know, it is a beautiful play. Well try to get there. True american play. Rare. Thank you. Thank you. Great to see you. It is thursday. That means it is ambush makeover makeover day. Plus, shes been acting since she was 7. You think youre the only one . Chloe grace moretz sits down with us after this. Sos his serve, and his mandarin [speaking mandarin] xieuxieu, hou chiu but like up to 90 of americans, jim falls short in getting important nutrients from food alone. Making jim more like us. Add one a day multivitamins, rich in key nutrients you may need. Hey kevin. Still eating chalk for hearburn . Yea. Try alka seltzer fruit chews. They work fast on heart burn and taste awesome. These are good. Told ya im feeling better already. Alkaseltzer fruit chews. Enjoy the relief at just 17 years ole, chloe grace moretz has made a name for herself in the acting world, working with directors like Martin Scorsese and tim burton. Last year she thrilled audiences with her performance in the remake of carrie, which also starred julianne moore. Well, now shes making her offbroadway debut in the library, directed by steven soderberg. You only work with, like, the greatest directors. How are you . Im good. How are you guys . Were good. So this is brand new. This is brand new. What are you feeling . Its great. Its amazing. Its really interesting to do something fresh and new thats never been done before because in the rehearsal process we had a lot of change. We had new scenes every day. Whereas a lot of the people that i was working with do like hamlet and amazing shakespearean piece thats dont really change. So its interesting to have this kind of live production where youre always learning something from it. And were all kind of and creating it together in a sense. Which is interesting. Spontaneous. Tell us about your role. You usually play these sort of dark roles in movies. And youre such a bubbly effervescent young lady. I think because i am a very happy person, i like to play the darker characters because it is real acting for me. Very opposite of who i am. So basically i play a girl named caitlin gabriel. And she is involved in a school shooting. And she survives. But her best friend and i think 12 other souls die. And she before she even wakes up out of a coma, she is accused of being an accomplice in a sense to the death of six children. So basically the story really revolves around what is truth and if your truth isnt told, how can you survive, how can you then live your life if what you believe is true isnt happening. Where do you go in your imagination as a young woman who by your own admission has had a great family life and none of that stuff touched you, where do you go for inspiration for stuff like that . You know, in that sense its really just acting and it really is finding things that you can grasp on to. At the end of the day, it is a fictionalized story. So i dont want to get too real about it, but we have gotten a lot of information from columbine and a lot of it is based on that, and we have ive done a lot of research through that and talked to a survivor and shes been an amazing help for me and shes really helped me through this process. And i want to be as true to it and honestly i want to do this play to be the voice of the victims. You know what i mean . Because thats never whos told in these shootings. Its always about the shooter. Its about the shooter. But we never hear what the victims are going through. I cant believe youre 17. Youre in midsentence and i am looking at you going its hard to believe that youre 17 years old. The maturity in all that. Do you have siblings . I have four older brothers and ive been raised with my mom as a single parent. And i came from a very strong household. So i have a very big upbringing. Can we lighten it up . You work with great actors. We want to play a game with you called who nose . Okay. We want to see if you know whose nose it is. Whose nose is that . Thats impossible. This is people youve worked with. This is someone ive worked with . Whos the nose . Is it scorsese . No. It is alec baldwin. Oh, my gosh. Let me give you an easy one. Kermit the frog. The next one. I wonder oh, wait. Julianne moore. Yes. Time for another one. Oh whoa. Oh. All right. Last one. Okay. Five seconds. Meryl streep . Pull it out. Oh well be back after this. Suddenly i see Little Friends visiting me today, colin mchale and his little sister riley osullivan. Well give a shot of them at some point. In the meantime there they are. In the dark with their mom taran. They own cinnamon lee, the dog that that little baby that grew up. Thanks for visiting, you guys. Were back on this thirsty thursday with another incredible edition of our ambush makeovers. Two lucky ladies were swept off the chilly plaza and into the hot seat in our makeup room for a brand new head to toe look. Working their magic as always, today contributor and stylist to the stars louis licari la, la, la, la, la and today contributor and contributing editor for people style watch and author jill martin. She said shes actually wearing scrubs she didnt say it. She actually is wearing them. She also says her daily beauty routine takes less than five minutes. Shes married with two adult sons and shes ready for a glam new look. Lets listen to her story. Well, i saved linda from the freezing cold. But you tell me youre really excited. I am super excited. I am super excited. Yay. Break it down. You havent colored your hair in 15 years. I once colored it a long time ago, didnt turn out well, so i actually have just been growing it out for like the last three years, just seeing where it would end up. So here i end up on your show and youre going to do me over. This is awesome. What is your husbands name . My husbands name is peter chan. Peter. Shes going to look different. I really, really, really need a makeover. Thank you. Awesome oh, my god. Shes excited. Im excited too. Her friend samantha is here with her blindfold on. Samantha, please keep it on for just a second. Here is linda chan before. All right, linda, lets see the new you. Wow. Oh, wow. Right here. Where are you going, doll . Right here. Perfect. Youre good. Youre good. Samantha, take off your blindfold. Shes over here. Oh, my goodness here you go. Right here. Linda. Oh, my god. You look fabulous. Oh, wow. Linda, do you want to see yourself . No, not yet. Youre right over here. Oh, my gosh. Wow. This is a different person. It is. Louis, tell us about the hair. Youre cheating. I saw you looking in the monitor. But what we did here, we had ray do the haircut. And he gave her this classic bob. She had long hair that again was doing nothing for her. So all of a sudden she has instant style. Then of course she was starting to go a little bit gray. It happens. It happens. You would be out of business if we didnt go gray. Praise the lord. So what i did of course is i used a single process color, less than 30 minutes. As you know, we dont have much time. Look at the you could not have picked a better woman. Shes the most giving mother and wife and so im so excited. Thank you for loving on her. You know what . I love this because shes not dressy, she told me. So we wanted to go a little more casual and give her pieces that shell actually wear. Great from adriana papel. The jeans are nydj and great to just put a statement necklace. Beautiful. Just adorable. Walk over there. Our second lady is alish alisha wanock, 45 from plano, texas. Shes a stay at home mom to her four kids. So mornings often involve getting ready very quickly. Back in the day, alesha said she rocked cher hair but hasnt changed her hair or makeup in at least 12 years. Cher hair. Cher hair. Lets see her story. Okay, so mothers day is coming up. You say mom really deserves this. Well, she does a lot for all four of the kids. Its nice to have her around as a stayhome mom, always there for us. How nice is that to hear . Thats really thats really special. I think day to day we just kind of go around doing all the mom things and so it is nice to know youre appreciated and i think it will be a real treat. Are you ready to be pampered for three hours . I am. I am. Im very excited. All righty. Alesha is here with her twin daughters, kate and erin. Theyre going to be celebrating their 13th birthdays on april 6th. Congratulations. Here is a picture of their mom before. Alesha wanock. Now lets bring out the brandnew alesha wanock. Wow. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. Okay. Kate and erin, take them off, look at your mom. Oh, my gosh. Yes. You want to turn around. You do look beautiful. Oh, my word. Ah oh, i love the hair. So cute. What do you think . Beautiful. Aw. Wow. Spin right around and look right there. Teenage daughters tell you the truth too, i found. All right. Louis, i love her hair. Thank you so much. And the biggest tip here is weve got haircut to face shape. This works so much better with the shape of her face. It sure does. It gives you a perfect oval. You look great. Then her hair, she did keep it brown years ago. She started to go blond, which is the gray in process started. But i thought that this was so much better. Again, it made her skin come alive. Then of course the subtle makeup. Remember, always keep it light. Beautiful. And this dress, jill i know. You like the dress. You wear the same one. Adriana papel again. That is adorable. I love it on both of you. It incorporates two trends lace and a statement necklace. Hers is two sizes smaller than mine. Thanks a lot. Gorgeous, gorgeous. Thank you, louis. Thank you, jill. Everyone has a moment that changes their life it happens once a month. Now it is time to meet our newest everyone has a story winner. His name is michael jisdamer who wrote us about his struggle with the autoimmune disease called transverse myelitis. Instead of letting it defeat him and letting others pity him, michael overcame the obstacles his way. Well meet michael and his wife in a moment. First, lets listen to his story. This is my story about transverse myelitis, or tm. 46 years ago, i was 17 years old. I came home from work while i was pumping gas in detroit because my arms hurt so badly. I couldnt grip anything. I took a sixhour nap, hoping i would feel better. When i woke up, i was paralyzed from the neck down. I could only turn my head, breathe and yell for help. I thought i was dying. Well, 46 years later i have to say ive had a blessed life. My wife of 42 years and my boys have kept me going. Ive always had a strong and positive attitude that i can do anything. I do have some bad days that creep in from time to time. However, all i had to do was to look at my family, and that kept me going. I practice my walking every chance i got. It would take me a while, but i was determined and i did it. I had to retire in 2003 because of my tm. And now i can devote my time to something im really passionate about. Im setting up a foundation the michael jezdamir transverse myelitis foundation. Our mission is to raise money to support spinal cord research. One day we will be free from a disease that is so traumatic on patients and families. Having tm has been very difficult. However 22. 3 kilometers. You can live a very productive and fulfilled life. You can choose to let it defeat you or you can rise to the occasion and overcome the obstacles that are presented to you. Michael is here with his lovely wife luanne. Were delighted you sent in the letter, mike. Dont give up out there, everybody. Tell everybody what you told me this morning, that you had written to everybody. I had. I had written to everybody. Im not going to name the other stations. But sorry. You know what . Your sense of humor captured us during the phone call we had. And its apparent here today. Thats got to be just such a strong force in your lives. You guys seem to enjoy all the moments. Absolutely. If you cant have a little bit of humor when youre, you know, paralyzed or its all about attitude. You have to have a great attitude in order to survive. Now, luanne, he had already had his his diagnosis when you met on a blind date, right . That is correct. Tell us about the moment you met. He was a new kid in town and started a job with striker corporation. And rented an apartment from one of my best friends. And she asked if i would show him around. And thats how you sure did. I did. You just had a cane then and you just had a little wobbly or yes, yes. I was walking with a cane and, you know, the funny thing about it was it was a blind date, and i went and i knocked at her door, and this was the day of the hippies and i had the tassels and everything. And the first thing she said was tie this. You like a woman in charge. Yeah. Its like i just tied the knot on our entire life. Wow. Did you know right off right then . I didnt, but she did. I did. Isnt that something . I think just by wearing these blue ribbons youre trying to let people know what, exactly . Im trying to let people know that theres a devastating disease out there called transverse myelitis. A friend, kim, made these for us. Shes got tm and shes in atlanta, georgia. Just outside atlanta. Tm is an autoimmune disease that affects the spinal cord, and its like a sleeper cell. Do they know what causes it . No, they dont. Its one of those diseases that just sneaks up on you. You know, age discrimination, no. Sex discrimination, no. Were you diagnosed right away when you woke up and you were paralyzed . Did they know thats what it was or did it take a long time . It took a long time. It took a long time. I bet it did. They first thought i had polio. Giandre syndrome. They finally diagnosed me with something called polyneuritis. But that wasnt it. It wasnt until 15 years later that i was diagnosed with transverse myelitis. You know the kids out there in california, the 25 that was recently diagnosed with something with poliolike symptoms. Yeah. Thats what this is similar to. Youre going to get the word out about it. Yes. We want to get the word out. You both are such bright lights. I swear, its so fun having you sit here with us. You have the prettiest skin ive ever seen in my life. Youve never been in the sun a day in your life, have you . Lived in it. I used to like luanne. Well have a very special performance for them in just a moment when we come back. A broadway star will sing a song for you. Okay . Well be right back.
