The Department of Veterans Affairs has become the first federal agency to require some employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19. According to the
New York Times, the requirement will apply to roughly 115,000 frontline health workers. Those workers include nurses, doctors, physician assistants, and specialists who may come in close contact with patients.
"We're mandating vaccines for Title 38 employees because it's the best way to keep Veterans safe, especially as the Delta variant spreads across the country," Secretary of Veterans Affairs
Denis McDonough said in a press release. "Whenever a Veteran or VA employee sets foot in a VA facility, they deserve to know that we have done everything in our power to protect them from COVID-19. With this mandate, we can once again make — and keep — that fundamental promise."

“It’s the best way to keep veterans safe, especially as the Delta variant spreads across the country,” said VA Secretary Denis McDonough.
The Veterans Affairs Department announced on Monday it will require all frontline healthcare workers to get vaccinated, making it the first federal agency to issue any sort of coronavirus vaccine mandate.
The mandate will apply to Title 38 health care employees who work in Veterans Health Administration facilities, visit the facilities or provide direct care to individuals the VA serves. The order covers about 115,000 employees, according to
Government Executive reported last year about the vast health and safety issues VA employees were facing in the beginning of the pandemic.

Pat Sajak 'Heard Very High-Level Secrets' At Pentagon

Pat Sajak has hosted
Wheel of Fortune. He's made quite a career for himself since replacing
Chuck Woolery on the game show in 1981. Pat has won three Emmys, been nominated for 19, and hosted over 7,000 episodes of the show. However, Sajak hasn't only been a game show host - before his work on
Wheel, the Chicago-born Sajak had many other jobs.
Pat first worked at a local radio station while in college, giving an hourly news briefing in English during the overnight show, which happened to be in Spanish. From there, he enlisted in the Army and was made a finance clerk in Vietnam, just before the war there began. He was able to get himself transferred to Saigon, where he got a job back on the radio, becoming what he called the "Good Morning Vietnam" guy. He spent a year and a half doing that, then was assigned to a base in Texas, but after some time there, he got his superiors to change his orders and he was sent to the Pentagon.

Project seeking UFOs and alien civilizations to be led by Harvard

USA TODAY
Some of our questions about the existence of UFOs and extraterrestrial civilizations could be answered by a new international research project led by Harvard University.
The Galileo Project, led by Harvard astronomy professor Avi Loeb, will search for a record of alien civilizations capable of technology surpassing what we know on Earth. It will use telescope observations, missions that send cameras into space and more..
"Given the recently discovered abundance of Earth-Sun systems, the Galileo Project is dedicated to the proposition that humans can no longer ignore the possible existence of Extraterrestrial Technological Civilizations (ETCs)," the team said in a statement.

Britney Spears' lawyer seeks conservator to replace singer's father -NY Times

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – An attorney for Britney Spears asked a Los Angeles court to name a new conservator to oversee the pop singer’s finances following recent testimony that she wanted her father ousted from the role, the New York Times reported on Monday.
In a court filing, lawyer Matthew Rosengart requested that accountant Jason Rubin be named the conservator of Spears’ estate, a post currently held by her father, Jamie Spears, the Times reported.
The newspaper said that Rosengart also filed a petition to remove Jamie Spears as a conservator but that document was not made public.

Architect Of Collapsed Miami Condo Was Previously Suspended

By Jason Hall

The architect responsible for designing the Miami-Dade County condominium that collapsed last month was previously suspended for designing other structures that toppled.
Documents from the Florida State Board of Architecture obtained by
the Real Deal, a South Florida real estate news outlet, said that sign pylons were "an integral part of the structure" of a Miami commercial building that collapsed during a 1965 hurricane built by
William Friedman, the same architect who designed the the Champlain Towers South condominium.
The documents stated that pylons were "insufficient and grossly inadequate" in withstanding the high wind pressure brought on by hurricanes -- which are frequent to the region -- and not in accordance with building code for the location or "to accept standards of architectural practice" in the board's decision to suspend Friedman.

Britney Spears Files to Oust Father Jamie Spears From Conservatorship

Britney Spears’ lawyer filed legal documents today petitioning to terminate her father’s position as conservator of her estate,
The New York Times reports. Her new lawyer Mathew Rosengart filed paperwork to replace Jamie Spears with certified public accountant Jason Rubin. The move comes after Spears claimed in court that she wasn’t aware she could petition to have the conservatorship terminated.
Spears’ father James “Jamie” Spears enacted the conservatorship in 2008. Britney Spears had been pushing for an end to the restrictions since 2014, according to a report that was released in June. Her fans had also rallied against the conservatorship for years with the #FreeBritney movement. Following her previous lawyer Sam Ingham III’s resignation, Bessemer Trust—the wealth-management firm that served as co-conservator of Spears’ estate alongside Jamie Spears, requested to withdraw from the conservatorship.

More than 50 major health care groups have issued a joint statement calling for all health care and long-term care employers to issue a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for all employees.
CNN reports the joint statement -- which includes the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Public Health Association -- was issued in response to continued surges of COVID-19 cases nationwide.
"Our health care organizations and societies advocate that all health care and long-term care employers require their workers to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. This is the logical fulfillment of the ethical commitment of all health care workers to put patients as well as residents of long-term care facilities first and take all steps necessary to ensure their health and well-being," the joint statement issued Monday (July 26) reads via

“He is positive and he is scared,” his brother Mark Valentine told the Tennessean. “He knows he is very, very sick.”
Shortly after being diagnosed, Valentine had initially dismissed his positive test result, telling his brother that he was already feeling better.
He said, ‘I don’t think it’s going to be a big deal,'”  Mark told The Washington Post on Sunday. “I frankly quit worrying about it.”
