Kurt Angle Says He Was Originally Planned To Become The First WWE Undisputed Champion
Posted By: Ben Jordan Kerin on Apr 18, 2021
During an Ask Kurt Anything segment of The Kurt Angle Show, WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle revealed he was originally planned to be the first-ever WWE Undisputed Champion.
Vince McMahon however changed his mind and ended up going with Chris Jericho instead, to which Angle agreed.
"I was actually set to win the (Undisputed) title. But Vince McMahon came to me about a week before and said, “Hey, I’m not going to put the title on you. I’m going to put it on Jericho, because he’s red hot right now, he’s working his way up, and he needs this title more than you.” And I agreed with him, so I said “You’re absolutely right. I’d put it on Jericho too if I were you.” So it was considered for me to win the title, but I think Vince went with Jericho because he needed it more and Chris was a red hot babyface at the time. You know, giving him that title just legitimized him more. He deserved it."

Travis County District Attorney José Garza issued a statement saying his “heart breaks for the victims” of Sunday’s shooting.
“Our office has been clear that acts of violence committed in our community will not be tolerated,” he said. Garza also thanked the members of the law enforcement working the case.
Austin police said just before 5 p.m. CT that the shelter-in-place order had been lifted, although the suspect is still at large and believed to be armed. The search is transitioning to a fugitive search, but there is still an active crime scene.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Kansas City Chiefs tight end Fred Arbanas, a key member of their first two Super Bowl teams in the 1960s and ’70s who later had a long career in county politics, has died. He was 82.
The Jackson County Democratic Party in Missouri, for which Arbanas was a major player for more than four decades, announced his death in a brief statement Saturday. No cause was given.
Arbanas, a member of the Chiefs’ Hall of Fame, was a six-time all-AFL selection and was picked to the All-Time AFL Team by the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Dallas Texans team that won the 1962 AFL title and, after the club moved to Kansas City, helped the rechristened Chiefs reach the Super Bowl in 1967 and 1970.

Emergency personnel work at the scene of a shooting Sunday in Austin. Police said three people were killed.
Three people were killed in a shooting in the Great Hills neighborhood of Austin on Sunday, police said.
Austin police said that while the suspect remains at large, the shooting appears to be a "domestic situation" and poses no risk to the general public. However, the police did urge residents to shelter in place.
Interim Austin Police Chief Joe Chacon told reporters the three victims were two women and a man.
"Obviously this is a tragedy. We have people who have lost their lives here," Chacon said, according to the Austin American-Statesman. "We'll do our best ... to get this person in custody ... and hopefully with no more loss of life."

“It was tough to do that when guys are knocking down shots and guys are knocking down 3s like they were and Clint doing what he’s doing in the paint,” Young said. “It’s hard to double a guy in a situation like that.”
Malcolm Brogdon finished with 29 points and Domantas Sabonis and T.J. McConnell scored 18 apiece for Indiana, which had won five of seven on the road.
The Hawks, who led by 20 in the first quarter, let the Pacers cut the lead to three in the second but went back up by 10 on Bogdanovic’s 3 with 6:03 to go in the third.

Lou Diamond Phillips on how 'La Bamba' brought him to Hollywood

Daily Times
Lou Diamond Phillips didn’t think he was the right fit to play Frankie Valli.
That’s not a misprint. It was, however, an error his agent’s office made when first alerting the young actor about auditions being held in Dallas for La Bamba — which, of course, was about the tragically curtailed life and career of Ritchie Valens — not future Jersey Boys subject Frankie Valli.
Born on a naval base in the Philippines and raised in Texas, Phillips was living in Arlington, working on local commercials and tiny underground film projects as well as teaching acting, when the call came in. “It came out of the blue, man. One hundred percent out of the blue,” Phillips, now 59, told Yahoo Entertainment during a new interview (watch above) promoting La Bamba’s re-release into theaters as part of TCM Big Screen Classics series.

“When people say, ‘Let’s not get political in the church’ — Jesus was very political,” Ledermann said. “He was engaged in how his culture, his community was being shaped, and who was being left out of the decision-making process.”
Georgia already has enacted legislation with various restrictive voting provisions. More than 350 voting bills are now under consideration in dozens of other states, according to the Brennan Center for Justice, a public policy think tank. Among the proposals: tightening requirements for voter IDs, reducing the number of ballot drop boxes and curtailing early voting.
African Methodist Episcopal Bishop Reginald Jackson, who oversees AME churches in Georgia, has been urging corporate leaders to do more to fight voting restrictions. So far, he’s dissatisfied with the response, and says he may call for boycotts of some companies.

The hit ended a five-game home losing streak for the Rangers and capped a wild extra frame that looked it would start with a lead for the Orioles, who dropped to 6-3 on the road.

Depending on whom you ask, the Arkansas state legislature is filled with either devils, dupes, or diligent lawmakers who did their duty to protect minors despite enormous pressure to capitulate. After all, they reversed their own Republican governor’s veto of a bill that would prohibit persons under age eighteen from receiving certain surgeries and hormone treatments for diagnosed gender dysphoria.
Last Tuesday, the Arkansas House of Representatives voted 72-25 to overturn Governor Asa Hutchinson’s veto, while the Senate did so by a vote of 25-8. While these margins are hardly narrow, the way forward will be widely contested by media mischaracterisations, deep-pocketed medical organisations’ proclamations, and the growing reach of corporate threats.
