Ill tell you what i found out in my ask joe segment. Madison . And a cold night out there with more snow on the way for what you need to know before a question tonight about what has been a highprofile criminal case here in reno. Beth wrote in asking how is it possible that jason brown had a parole hearing only a few months after he was sentenced for torturing and killing animals. Well, just to refresh your memory, jason brown was sentenced in object on seven counts of torturing and killing dogs a t local motel last year a very disturbing case. H was sentenced to a total of 28 years behind bars. Despite that, he did have a parole hearing scheduled last was sentenced. I checked with the parole board today and they told me that no action was taken because there sentence structure that the board is still reviewing. Here is how it breaks down. Brown was sentenced on seven counts in object of last year, but the parole board told me that his sentence was started retroactively back to july of 2014 and the judge ruled that he is el jim for parole after serving 19 to 48 months for each count. Since his sentence was started eligible for parole on the first count in march of this year. Important to point out that brown is serving his sentences consecutively, so even if he was paroled on the first count, he would then have to serve six more sentences before he could be free. But one key question is why the judge back dated his sentence by more than a year. I checked with the department of corrections today and they tell me that was done because brown served time in the county jail while awaiting trial so he received credit for that when you figure the math in that way, it does add up. Either way, brown wont be getting out of prison for a long, long time. Thanks to beth for sending in that question. Remember, if you do have questions youd like to ask, send me an email at mynews4. Com. Ill do my best to track down whatever answers you are looking for. Shelby, back to you. Thank you, joe.
