See how the rock is being used veterans in Cherokee County got a big thank you today. Its more then 6 feet tall and over 40,000 pounds. This massive rock is on the road to becoming a freedom rock. These rocks are made by an artist named Ray Bubba Sorensen who has taken on the task of painting murals on rocks in each of iowas 99 counties. They are meant as a thank you to veterans and their families. Cherokee countys rock was moved this morning. One vietnam veteran has seen the other freedom rocks and says hes been trying to get a rock in cherokee for years. I think the rock probably help bring a lot of the memories back, but i wouldnt trade it for anything because i feel like im a better person for being in the army and going to war like that and id do it again, said vietnam veteran cherokee, iowa vfw commander, edward boger. Boger enlisted when he was 17 yearsold. He fought in vietnam twice and says this rock is a big thank you. A big milestone surrounding the bird flu outbreak in iowa. Today, state agricultural officials lifted the quarantine of all commercial Poultry Farms in the state. That includes 72 facilities. That means all the site have been cleaned and disinfected and clear of the virus.
