Authorities say they found nearly 5000 Marijuana Plants inside a building in benicia. As ktvus john sasaki tells us, todays bust comes just three months after authorities found another illegal growing operation in that same area. Reporter a nondescript building on stone road in benicia housed what was called green view home solution. Its an interesting name. Clearly not a legitimate business. Reporter the Solano County Sheriffs Office and the fbi moved in on thursday morning. I said wow, it is something really going on. Sheriff pulled up with a trailer and i said, wow, looks like a drug bust going on. Reporter troy moore was correct. Deputies and agents found a huge marijuana growing operation with millions of dollars worth of product. There was over 4800 plants. There were several pounds of processed marijuana confiscated or seized during that search warrant. The street value of the marijuana was over 14. 5 million. Reporter now in the window is a document from a law office in oakland that orders the tenants out because of the cultivation of marijuana. Thinking this is the second one in six months. I think something needs to get stepped up out here. Reporter in fact, this bust came just three months after a similar raid of this warehouse on east second street, half a mile away. Very similar to the same type of operation, just on a smaller scale. So clearly it was related to it. Reporter investigators say that previous bust came after a Benicia Police officer responding to some other issue noticed something suspicious. It netted more than 800 plants and 2. 5 million in processed pot. I dont think its an isolated incident to the city of benicia in the Industrial Area of benicia. I think its statewide, if not nationally, that these grows being grown outside are now growing inside. Reporter the bust helped lead investigators here, where one man was arrested. Monday marks 4 20, the annual International Marijuana celebration that draws thousands of pot smokers to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Preparations are already under way. Police estimate 15,000 people came out for last years event, which fell on easter sunday. Stores in the area say they lost a lot of business when Police Closed down nearby streets. Officers at the sfpd park station told residents that they hoped to keep street closures to a minimum this year. Last year, 20,000 pounds of trash was left in a single day at the park. The Department Spent 23,000 for cleanup and park patrol. We want people to enjoy the park, but we also want them to clean up after themselves and take their trash out or throw their trash in a trash bag and do everything they can to protect the park. City Officials Say there were a number of reports last year of minors at the marijuana festival. This monday will be juvenile probation there monday, there will be juvenile probation and undercover officers out to make sure that teens are not a part of this annual 4 20 celebration. The collection of photographic negatives, many of them never seen before, are now being held in refrigerated vaults. San franciscos fine arts museums have launched a campaign to preserve those images. As mike mibach reports, time is ticking to save a cherished piece of San Francisco history. You can also see how they struggled in the immediate aftermath, the tent cities that went up, how people were cooking and lining up for provisions. Curator james ganz says a campaign to raise at least 40,000 is under way now. There is an inherent problem with the negatives. They are not stable. They can basically go at any time. New at 6 00, new concerns involving an historic bay area golf course, following a ruling made by the states Coastal Commission. It all has to do with a project to control water at the Sharp Park Golf Course. Environmentalists say it all will harm an endangered animal. The park is owned by San Francisco, but actually located 10 miles south of the city in pacifica, near highway 1. Ktvus john fowler explains the battle of fairways versus frogs. Reporter one of the bay areas oldest and most affordable places to tee off. That a boy reporter sharp park is on low ground on pacificas coast, deeded to San Francisco. Its home to populations of freshwater redlegged frogs and the endangered San Francisco garther garter snake. The states Coastal Commission granted be lated permits to controversial illegal pumps, part of a 400,000 project to control golf course water. Environmentalists also object to this seawall, intended to protect the golf course. But they say it, too, was built illegally without permits. I think this project has been very mismanaged by the San Francisco rec and parks department. Reporter the department told me its coordinating with state and federal wildlife and water agencies, that the project preserves habitat and the golf course. But environmentalists demand a low marshy area be put off limits to golfers. It doesnt mean that Sharp Park Golf Course would have to close. It would just mean where there is the Sensitive Habitat area, it would be better utilized as a park. I hope they can resolve it. I know theres some talk about trying to restructure the course and put new holes in or take some holes out. Reporter both sides agree it could be years before this match is over. There we go. Reporter john fowler, ktvu fox 2news. State Vector Control officials are on the lookout for a new type of invasive mosquito spotted from San Mateo County to southern california. The asian tiger mosquito, or yellow tiger, has been known to spread diseases like dengue or yellow fever. So far here, there have been no reports of people getting sick. People have reported seeing the mosquitoes because they behave differently compared to typical mosquitoes that come out at dusk. They came and said weve got all these mosquitoes biting us during the day. They are kind of a striking black and white color and they called their local Vector Control agency. The asian tiger and yellow tiger mosquitoes are frequently found in backyards in standing water. Time to get more on our weather now. Were heading into the weekend. Checking the fog along the coast, theres patchy fog. Thats sort of the indication that spring is coming, because when you see the fog, you know the environments becoming stable. Jetstream, the bulk of the jetstream is way up here. It goes up over, above vancouver, then drops down into the great basin. You see that low . Thats the bottom of the trough. Were under this extended ridge of High Pressure that allows the fog to form, but does not allow rain to come in essentially. Thats where we are. Theres fog along the coast right now, fog moving in now at stenson beach. If you come in close, lot of folks living out in the sunset and richmond district. Youre fogged in west of 19th avenue. Heres 19th. If you go over twin peaks across town, its not bad. At the ballpark, its sunny. I think it will stay that way until the game is over. Then fog rolls over the bay in the morning. Winds will push it onshore. The weekend . What you got today is what youll get saturday and sunday. Theres had the cool on the coast. These are current numbers now. Theres the warmth inland. This temperature disparity from cool to warm is classic. The cool air gets pulled in by the warm air. Warm air goes up, cools, comes back down and you get the feedback loop. You get this land seabreeze, which is indicative of basically our entire summer. Its a dry pattern, a stable pattern, but it allows the fog to form, allows temperatures at the coast to be cool, temperatures inland to be more like that. Upper 70s. Its not a hard core temperature spread, but were starting to see it, right . Were starting to see low 60s coastside, mid80s inland. In the wintertime, were seeing mid60s coastside. Mid50s inland. Its actually the opposite. 78 degrees in santa rosa tomorrow. 79 in vallejo. Some areas at guerneville, 81, 82 degrees. 80 in milpitas. Depends whats around you. Depends how many trees you have. Bunch of redwoods in the backyard, that 82 turns to a 76. Forecast highs through the five day, no rain in this one, but there are encouraging indications that maybe on wednesday, thursday, i got clouds in there now, but one of the models suggests maybe a chance of rain, which would be nice because we could throw more water on the lawns before we have to watch them go away this year. A search team says it has the first clear images of a world war ii Aircraft Carrier that was deliberately sent to the ocean floor off the san mateo coast.
