Adsit, its been an incredible journey, he says with lots of up and downs, and hes really taking it day by day. I dont know what the next few years hold at this point, but i feel confident that the next couple of days and weeks the driver who hit officer adsit suffered a seizure, and was sentenced to six years probation for vehicular assault, and not disclosing his history of seizures. For now, the denver metro area is dry. We cant rule out possibly seeing one or two thunderstorms. Overall, the heaviest storms, east of the plains. One or two across the interstate, especially across the southwestern suburbs in Douglas County by 7 00, 8 00. About 10 00, 11 00 p. M. , and mainly hang to the south of the palmer divide. Hurricane madeleine, hurricane lester, theyre moving toward hawaii. Madeleine would be the First Pacific hurricane to make landfall in that state in decades. Predicting madeleine will pass dangerously close to the big island. 42 counties in florida are under a state of emergency ahead of Tropical Storm hermaine, just off the coast along the big bend area of florida, either as a strong Tropical Storm, or a weak hurricane. If it obtains hurricane status, it would be the first hurricane to hit florida since october of 2005. Tornadoes are also possible. Residents are already prepping. Theyve got the sandbags and the state is handing them out for free. We have 6,000 members of our mobilized. But just think, were going to a storm search. Were going to have rain, a risk of tornado, and this is going to go across the state. Its going to start sometime tomorrow, and is going to hit most of the northern part of the state. That no longer has to be the case for patients at the university of colorado hospital. I would have never in a million years, thought i would be walking around. Absolutely, but she really wants to keep her hair. That means so much to her. I think a lot of cancer parents will say, its not only just part of who are you. But there is this awkward thing, people dont know what to say once youve been diagnosed. Even though youre not necessarily sick, you might i know we reported about this a few years ago. Reporter before, they used to use something called cold caps. Very similar to a device that goes over your head. But its just that. It has to remain on dry ice. Its not hooked up to a big machine. You had husbands of wives, getting Breast Cancer just make sure those caps stay cold. That chemotherapy, that medicine gets back in there, and you would have patches of air. It isnt as reliable. This is much more reliable, and a little bit cheaper too. Is it an option for everyone . No. Not right now at ceh. Right now, its only open to Breast Cancer every kind of chemotherapy. So talk to your doctor. At least ask. Absolutely, people are so excited about this happening right now. Its in 26 states, and theyre hoping it will be in a lot more soon. This afternoon, we have a chance of seeing one or two move through the region. It is so muggy out there, and weve been watching the showers along the eastern plains. It certainly went by our temperatures just a hair below average from where we should be. Low 70s as far as temps are concerned. Rainfall, we really didnt see all that much, only. 22. Next at 5 00, a struggle between Denver Police and a suspect ends with the man dead, also, a state of emergency in florida as thousands prepare for a Tropical Storm headed towards shore. An officer involved shooting in denver has left one man dead, and three Police Officers hurt. None. Officers were it happened in southwest denver, near west bates avenue, and south bryant street. Maya rodriguez joins us from near there with details. Maya. Reporter yeah, adel, police are not releasing many details about this shooting. Investigators are still out here though on the scene where that suspect was shot and killed in this officer involved shooting. Now all of this started around noon today. Thats when dpd responded to a home in the 2600 block of south individual wanted on several warrants. Officers pursued him, and there was a confrontation in the middle of the street. Dpd chief robert white says the suspect struggled with one of the officers over that officers gun. Several shots were fired, and the suspect was killed. A neighbor says she is shocked by what happened. Reporter its quiet. Its quiet here. Thats why i was surprised when i saw all of this. And then i wa happened . I was worried because its here by my house. Three officers were injured. We believe all of them are minor, maybe with the exception of one, but none of them are lifethreatening. Reporter again, the suspect is dead. Those officers have been placed on administrative leave as is standard operating procedure, in cases like this. And the investigation does continue.
