In those shreds, hands fulls of important paperwork says former borough manager paula brown. This is how this borough became 1 million in debt, because cash like this would come in to the borough and the cash would not be deposited into the bank. Citations, parking tickets and other proof of borough income, brown says, now discarded and destroyed. Brown says the papers were found in a park yesterday and are part of a patter. Lets talk about that, we tom about lyme disease, it is caused by bacteria carried by infected ticks. So lets talk about tick prevention. One of the first things you can do, make sure if youre in wooded areas walk in the center of trails. Avoid the outside, shower after you come indoors do the full body tick check. Have someone help with you. This take a look at your outdoor gear as well as your pets those little furry ones can bring in the ticks as well. Put your clothes in drier with high heat, one of the most important things, using a tick repellent, either one with 20 to 30 deet or another substance called permedrink. Out in the market. Make sure use the tick repellent. I heard of deet. And like you mentioned lyme disease the big concern about getting bit by a tick watch are the symptoms . What should we look for . Ticks mostly april to september. Some of the signs and symptoms early stages of lyme have the bulls eye rash, the rash thats characteristic for lyme, but not everybodys going to have this. Other early signs and symptoms are fatigue fever chills, headache muscle and joint pages, maybe limp nodes. Can be late signs and symptoms. In other words if lyme disease goes on too log, it is not treated, it can affect the nervous system, the nerves consideration also affect the heart, can can also affect the joints. Very serious. It can be absolutely. Treatment, what type of treatment . If lyme disease is diagnosed properly and we will talk about diagnosis but if it is treated as well most people recover perfectly fine. We have antibiotics treat it, and it is pretty much is a simple course of antibiotics depending which stage you are at most people do just fine, recover quite nicely. How diagnosis it . Lyme disease diagnosed not only by the symptoms a patient has, coming in and saying, doctor ive got this rash ive got fever chills, et cetera. But also theyre likelihood of being exposed to an infected tick. Now, keep in mind, the ticks that typically cause or that transmit lyme disease, black legs particulars, in this part of are you we call it deer ticks, it matters how long did it stay attached, where you got bit all sort of factors so we take these things into account as physicians. There are blood tests as well but pretty specific when we use the blood tests but we can diagnosis it in the office. If you think you have been exposed you absolutely should see your doctor about it. This may be out of your realm but how do you kill a tick . As a kid you always heard light a match put the back of the match on the tick or try to pick it up, flush it . So actually the cdc ~.
