Today. Some of the roads will start getting closed, be prepared for that. Bridges, tunnels, they want people off the roads. We dont want people getting stuck and having snowmobiler rescues out in the worst of the storm. We have to think of the elderly and people by themselves. People have to be prepared for 60 hours in their houses snowed in with a possibility of no power and a very cold house. People you worry about, 29 Million People under the blizzard warnings. You have to figure at least a couple hundred of women have to be pregnant near full term who are nervous about this situation. Unfortunately, like a lot of the major storms well have people stuck in their houses dealing with situations like that. So heres the warnings. The actual areas of greatest concern are the blizzard warnings. Thats this area in blue from the tip of maine all the way back down to the jersey shore. This is where well see feet of snow and also the likelihood of 70 mile per hour wind gusts and well deal with storm surge flooding in cape cod and the power will be knocked out from long island and cape cod and eastern portions of mass. This is my snowfall forecast. I updated this this morning. We had many different opinions obviously with big, huge storm like this. The National Weather service in new york city was at one point saying 24 to 36 inches. They have come down a little bit now. And so theyre right around the foot and a half to two feet in new york city like i am. I think that worcester area to providence has the best chance of seeing two feet of snow. As we go throughout Tuesday Morning especially thats where we have the best chance of getting thunder snow. Literally thunderstorms. You will hear claps of thunder in the sky. Maybe some flashes of lightning. Thats when well see the highest snowfall rates out there. Late tonight into this time tomorrow. Hartford, i have you at 16 to 20. Philadelphia to baltimore, the snow really tapers off the further you head back to the east and the south. Thats why i have you lower. But theres big bust potential in areas. My confidence in the philadelphia and new york city forecast are the lowest. Hartford, boston bangor areas youre locked in your with your forecast. The storm is exiting the appalachians, it will make its way towards the Norfolk Virginia beach area. Thats when it will begin to explode. Thats why were talking about two to three feet in some areas. Its not until we get to wednesday morning that the storm ends. And that would be right about 8 00 a. M. Thats kind of the timing of the storm and my latest thinking of, you know, be prepared to stay in your houses in this area of the country. Probably until maybe thursday morning. Wednesday is the day when the crews will be out there trying to get the snow cleared. Theyll probably to stay off the roads until thursday a. M. Before you can drive around and get to your destinations. More on the storm as we go throughout the day. People are obviously preparing to be inside, Grocery Stores were packed over the weekend. Many shoppers found empty shelves. The National Guard to the state police are going over their present races. We usually prepare worst case scenario. And we literally got off a phone call with the National Weather service and theyre throwing words around like historical, monstrous. So from that perspective, yeah, we are preparing for the worst. And of course the storm is also throwing off travel plans across the nation. According to the website flight aware, airlines have cancelled more than 1,800 flights for today. More than 1,600 for tomorrow. Thats about 3,000. Today amtrak says it plans to operate on the normal schedule. Salt trucks and snowplows are ready for the roads but people are warned to stay inside if at all possible. Well track it on way too early and on morning joe. The breaking news from the weekend and overnight from the white house where officials confirm a suspicious device has been found on the grounds.
