Those strong winds creating rough seas in areas of coastal flooding, especially as we head into sunday. Heres the big picture, the storm is starting to move its location toward the outer banks. It will come into the chesapeake and start to shift its way eastward. You see between the rain and snow and a huge plume of moisture, getting wrapped into all of this. Light rain fall moved into new york city. Steady rain fall in philly and in northern new england, it is clear skies and the moon is shining tonight. Heres a closer look and it looks very, very close. None of this is reaching the as it works its way northward, a lot of it gets eaten up by dry air. Who wins the battle . Is it the heavier snowfall trying to push its way through it. By tomorrow morning, snow flakes should be moving toward the south coast, the cape and the islands. As we head toward lunch, that is moving toward the boston area. As it continues to pivot northward, it hits the brakes here, runs into the really dry stuff thats around route 2, heading into parts of the north shore. So it wont make many there. The biggest question is, there will be a wall of extremely heavy snowfall. Were talking whiteout conditions and its going to be right lined up with our coastline. If it comes up just a little bit, youre going to see a lot of snow in a short amount of time. If it stays offshore, well see much lower totals. Be prepared along the south coast and the islands in particular for the chance of heavy snow. As we head through the evening, should be flying across the southeastern part of the state and then that snow band will wrap its way eastward as we head into sunday morning. Snow totals contingent on that heavy band, not getting too far north for too long. Going 3 to 6 inches here. The highest potential is the south coast and across southern parts of rhode island. 1 to 3 for boston and westward along the pike. And then a dusting or so as you head farther northward. This continues to be a nonstory for northern new england, where they wont get any flakes. We have winter storm warnings along the south shore. Blizzard warning in effect for marthas vineyard. The snow is dryer, still a lot of wind and a blizzard is about three consecutive hours of winds over 35. Tracking those winds out of the morning. It gets windy during the afternoon and evening and the evening is really the peek. Well see gusts to 55 miles per hour. Notice the worst are again southeastern part of the state. Also coinciding with where the snow is falling. So tomorrow afternoon and evening, some low visibility, some poor travel conditions. Wind wills start to diminish as we head into sunday afternoon. A coastal flood watch, south shore, and the bay side of the cape in particular as well as nantucket, minor to perhaps moderate pockets of flooding. High tide cycle is 10 00 a. M. To 2 00 in the afternoon on sunday. And tomorrows highs by the way, colder inland, plus the wind, very chilly.
