We have new information about the murder of a philadelphia limo driver. Authorities have identified him as 24yearold Miguel Rodrigez ramirez. Authorities shot him in the head in a robbery. We first told you about the story last night at 11 00, Randy Gyllenhaal has been on the story since last night. Youve learned more now about the victim . We know hes originally from the Dominican Republic moved here, got a job at a catering company. Within the last few weeks he had to take a brand new job to support a brand new daughter. On a fare last night, he was gunned down dropping off a passenger. Family of Miguel Rodrigez ramirez gather in their kensington home to comprehend the unthinkable. The 24yearold father and part time limo driver was shot and killed saturday night in a random senseless attack. One of his customers shot him in the head after being dropped off here in west philly now the young mans family tells nbc10 he was just hired last week wanting to earn some extra cash to support his 5monthold daughter many. Youre trying to make a live g living living. He trying to provide food for his wife. According to the limo company, rodrigez picked up a passenger last night. The suspect suddenly opened fire stealing cash and a cell phone. The limo driver died in his vehicle. His family pleading for any information. Good father. Great guy, all the time happy. I cannot believe it. This marks the third homicide in the new year. Right now, homicide detectives say they dont have a motive. Randy gyllenhaal nbc news. Held captive and sexually assaulted for hours. Thats what happened to a 20yearold woman. Theyre searching for three men wanted in that attack many the men brought her to a row home assaulted her nor hours and released her sometime today. Police have not made any arrests, but they say the victim knew at least one of her attackers. A huge turnout today in Delaware County for a rally in support of police. More than 1,000 people lined the streets creating a thin blue line. Organizers wanted to do something to skoun theer balance recent protests and make sure officers everywhere know theyre appreciated. I dont think its about taking sides at all. I think its about supporting other people that support us theyre there when we need them, and bad things have happened to good people and were here to support the good people. Among the thousands of officers who attended todays funeral in new york city were dozens from philadelphia. The officers got on a bus this morning outside the fraternal order of police lodge. Nbc10 spoke with some of the officers after they returned from new york city. He she all spoke about the family of police and the solidarity they feel, no matter where an officer is killed. Were part of that family we lost two family members in new york if he can be there, you have to be there. When i looked to my left and right, i saw brothers in uniform standing in support, a family. The officers said these killings do not deter them from protecting the public and theyre grateful for the support they receive from the community. He terrorized parts of pennsylvania for weeks. In just a few hours, eric freen will appear in a pike county courtroom. He ambushed two state troopers killing one of them. He will face charges of first degree murder and possibly the death penalty. The case goes before a judge in milford in the morning. Doug shimell is there tonight. People he talk to say he has questions he hopes they answer tomorrow. Ask. Reporter the prosecutor will no doubt bring up this was a sevenweek manhunt that altered the lives of just about everyone around here. The public jeered when it came face to face with the man who allegedly terrified him for months. Hes really skilled. Hes charged with the sniper murder of brian dixon last september, and the wounding of trooper alex douglas. The sevenweek search weakened the economy and closed schools last fall. They go out and put their life on the line for us every day. Its especially poignant as officer liu was shot and killed in an antipolice protest. We need our police and we need to show them that. An American Health worker who was exposed to ebola overseas is under observation at a nebraska hospital. The patient landed in omaha this afternoon, and paramedics took them to the nebraska medical center. The patient is neither ill nor contagious, hell be observed for any signs of ebola. The three ebola patients have been treated at the hospital. This week a doctor from the hospital of the university of pennsylvania will return to west africa to treat ebola patients there. When she came home in late november, she underwent a 21 day monitoring period to confirm she did not have any symptoms of the virus. She grew up in bala cynwyd her family now lives in malvern.
