This thing has gone back and forth. Where do they stand now . Reporter selling pgw or what to do with the utility has sparked a feud between the mayor and members of city counsel. Part of that feud is playing out right here at drexel university. Our cameras were rolling when mayor nutter came here to speak to the commission about his propos proposal. He wants to sell pgw for almost 2 billion. He is hoping to boost a struggling Pension Program by 400 million. Here is what mayor nutter told the states utility commissioners. The terms of the sale require base rates not increase before january 1, 2018 at the earliest and promote longterm rate stability. Uil must honor the current collective Bargaining Agreement and treat union and exempt workers fairly. Reporter in a few minutes, the head of the Electrical Union and the head of the Gas Workers Union are scheduled to speak to the utility commissioners. For months, they have rallied against the sale outside city hall. Energy experts say if the sale of pgw goes through, it would be a catalyst for making Philadelphia Energy hub. The u. S. Department of justice announced a federal kidnapping indictment against him yesterday. City council honored all the investigators to worked together to rescue carlesha. The man accused of killing a Pennsylvania State trooper faces terrorism charges. Eric frein told investigators that he shot and killed one trooper and wounded another because he wanted to make a change in government and wake people up. Authorities also say frein wrote a letter to his parents in which he said he was trying to start a revolution. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. The jury has awarded 45 million in damages to one of the mentally disabled adults who were held capture in a philadelphia basement. Lawyers for the woman said she and others were subjected to more than ten years of abuse by linda weston and two other defendants during a scam to steel their Social Security checks. She was among those rescued from the basement in 2011. The defendants are in federal custody. A trial is expected next year. Reporter the hearing has been under way now for about an hour. Right now, inside the grand ball room, mayor nutter is taking questions, answering them from members of the commission. Any minute now the heads of the electrical workers and Gas Workers Union are scheduled to arrive and speak. Members of both unions have rallied against the sale of pgw outside city hall for months. Mayor nutter told utility commissioners in, collective Bargaining Agreements will be honored. That was just one of many benefits nutter outlined for selling pgw to uil holdings. After the potential close of a transaction, uil may not lay off any pgw employees for at least three years. Any reduction in employment may occur solely through attrition, layoffs are not permitted. During the same threeyear period, uil pgw must maintain an Employment Level of at least 1,350 employees. Its later sunday night as the precipitation comes in, it could start as snow in the poconos, a mixture in the Lehigh Valley and other northern and Western Areas could see a little bit of some snow or especially some sleet at the beginning.
