And you may need to use some electricity tomorrow and thursday in the form of heating for your home because it is going to be pretty cold. We got a wet week around here. Not going to be raining the entire time. There will be some rain each day probably. A huge temperature drop is on the way. And weekend going to be different than what were seeing the rest of the week. Well, we have got cloudy skies now over philadelphia. Citizens bank park there, not playing baseball today. But tomorrow and thursday it is going to be rough out there. 63, cloudy skies, southwest wind keeping things on the warmer side. And were 60 or above everywhere except for the poconos and down toward the shore areas. 62 at Atlantic City airport. That is inland. Stone harbor right near the beach, that is much cooler because the wind coming in off that chilly ocean. Well show you the effect of this. There is the wind direction, right along coastline. You can see it is 52 in beach haven. 51 in avalon in the 60s inland. Now, we have a few showers around the area now, but there is certainly some more activity back to the west little heavier. Not talking about anything severe but there could be a thunderstorm in some parts of the area by this evening. Okay, here is the mild air. But here is the cold air. It is only 41 at boston. 36 in montreal. Normally we wouldnt care because our air doesnt come from there normally. This time it will. And the northeast wind is going to come in we got the south wind now. There is that northeast wind. And where they meet we get extra showers and then here comes that wind pushing the warmer air down as we go into tomorrow. So were potentially into the 70s this afternoon. Then some showers getting a little bit heavier this evening as you can see possibly some thunderstorms, but look how much colder it is getting during the evening. By tomorrow morning, in the 40s, and then it does not go up. If anything the temperature goes down during the day tomorrow. Plus we have wind. Plus we have moisture. That is a nasty combination. Not too many people are going to enjoy the weather for wednesday and thursday. Look at that. Temperature just doesnt move. And then it is down to 39 in pottstown and reading and allentown and doylestown by 7 00 tomorrow night and by thursday morning, were in the 30s. Nbc 10 and telemundo 62 are host the first Mayoral Debate for the 2015 election. The six candidates will take the stage inside the Kimmel Center later tonight. They are former d. A. Lynne abraham, former City Solicitor nelson diaz former philadelphia councilman jim kenny and doug oliver former press secretary for philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter former state senator milton street and Pennsylvania State senator Anthony Hardy williams. Here now, the preview of tonights debate is aj raju, a member of the board of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of commerce. Thank you for joining us this morning. Happy to be here vai. Why is it so important for the chamber of commerce to be part of the debate tonight. And what is the payoff for the chamber . I think this city is at a Tipping Point where were a tale of two cities. It looks like baltimore and detroit and for the top 40 , looks like boston for new york. And the conversation about where the new economy is going to go for next 50 years is very important. You have to make sure that the candidates who are running to become our mayor understand the 60 of our citys plight leading in poverty and broken School System and history of corruption. At the same time allow the businesses that are looking to fly high do their thing, which is the 8 billion of construction within walking distance, great arts and culture scene and the Health Care System and, of course the dnc and the papal visit coming is a testament to the fact that a lot of things are happening in philadelphia. And we need a mayor that is responsible to both sides of the equation for philadelphia. Ogeaajay, you mentioned the broken School System. You think funding without raising taxes, the make or break issue of the debate . I think education is one of the key topics for all mayoral candidates to consider. Because, again, you fix education, you have revival in center city you have revival in the suburban neighborhoods you have revival all over philadelphia. Education is an important topic. One topic that should receive a lot of attention and is not receiving as much is poverty. We lead the country in child poverty. Two of the poorest congressional districts within walking distance from center city are located within philadelphia. So poverty and education are probably the two most key issues and, again, chambers role in having the listening tours with road map for growth was intentionally designed to illicit from the neighborhoods the ideas that are most important to our citizens as we carve a new path for philadelphia in the next 50 years. Ajay im trying to keep from having you handicap the field, just because youre a member of the board of the Greater Chamber of commerce but i would like to hear from you what you think and i think our viewers would, who you think has the most to gain and they have the most to lose in tonights debate. I think this will be listen, this will be the first televised debate. It gives all of the candidates an opportunity to present their topics and lay out a vision for the city. I think for if you look at the polling, at this point, lynne abraham, senator williams and jim kenny seem to be leading. At least in the recent polling. For them for the three of them it will be an opportunity, especially to lay out a vision to separate one from the other. And that would be an opportunity, also for our audience members. I think this is a great opportunity for those who are going to be watching. Collectively among the six of them, we have over a century worth of Public Service that these candidates bring to the table. So it is an exciting moment six dedicated Public Servants all looking to carve out a new future for the city. And citizens have to make sure they come out and vote on primary day because one of them most likely just based on the democratic numbers, one of them will most likely run our city for at least the next four years and if history is an indication the next eight years. Not surprisingly the three you mentioned, also probably had the most money and have ads running. One just ran before you came on by Anthony Hardy williams. So this really kind of levels the playing field, these debates, because it allows those who dont have the money, you know, maybe oliver street it to have a chance to speak to their audience right . This is extremely important for thats why i think the most important winner in this is not the candidates as much as the public who is going to be watching getting the opportunity without filter listening to the five candidates and making up their mind on for whom theyre going to cast their vote. And it doesnt matter who they vote for. As long as they come out and vote because i think a low turnout, especially when a city is at a Tipping Point as we are today, would be disastrous. Ajay quickly, i know youve been getting a lot of press. I know this interview, i know, isnt about you, but still, i like to ask you, do you have political ambitions . Do you want to run for mayor some day . I think there are multiple ways to serve. To say something, if you see something, but we have a foundation and a lot of the Public Service that were doing is done through nonprofit and through corporate leadership. No current plans now, but, you know, one never knows what the future holds. I expect you to come here on this show and tell us when you do. Ajay, ra jchlt raju thank you for being with us today. Melissa mayor bailey is the only republican running for mayor. She was a registered democrat before changing her party earlier this year. And well have rain on and off all the way into friday. A huge temperature drop coming between today and tomorrow. But the weekend, thats going to change that pattern and were seeing a lot of sunshine then. Well, the wind continues to be blowing warm air in. Those flags are going to be blowing the opposite way tomorrow. And colder air comes in from the southwest today. So thats why it is still warm. 63 degrees, all about the wind direction. Allentown, 60 degrees. Mount holly, 65 and cloudy. Dover, 64 and partly cloudy. Dover has the best chance of getting up to 70 degrees in our area during the day today. You can see it is generally in the low to mid60s, 52 mount pocono. But up toward new england it is much much colder. And in this case some of that colder air is coming down on the northeast wind. Normally it doesnt, but in this particular weather pattern it will. Just a few showers around now. Light showers, but a little heavier activity back toward pittsburgh. That should be moving in by 6 00 8 00 tonight. And some of that could be on the heavier side with thunderstorms. So there is the warmer air. Big temperature contrast from allentown to dover. 60 to 70. Here come showers and possible thunderstorms, we go into the evening hours. Some of that as you see on the heavy side. And the wind starting to come from the northeast. Thats going to drop the temperature and once the northeast wind comes in it is not going to warm up until that wind shifts. So wednesday, 8 00 a. M. Starting 44. Now well see what happens. By 11 00 a. M. Down to 42. By 2 00 p. M. Were still 42. Temperature doesnt go anywhere tomorrow. If anywhere, it is going down. You can see the scattered showers or periods of light rain or drizzle all over the place. And then tomorrow night, were down to the 30s with this drizzle. And little bit of wind. And that is just nasty. And then on thursday morning, look at that even colder. Still cloudy. Still damp. And then on friday everything changes dramatically. The phillies have a couple of games to get through during this period. First of all tomorrow the wind totally opposite what we saw yesterday. This is a northeast wind blowing straight in from center field. That makes it harder to hit a home run. Yesterday, with the southwest wind, made it easier. Look at these temperatures in the low 40s. Yesterday, in the 70s. Thats quite a difference from game one to game two. For today, scattered showers around. Temperatures in the 60s, low 70s. But that southwest wind chance of a thunderstorm early this evening. And then periods of rain and drizzle tomorrow with a high of 48. Some rain and drizzle on thursday with a high of 48. And then we break out up to the 70s with showers and thunderstorms on friday but looks like it moves out of here just in time for the weekend. Weekend is looking really nice. Chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz is here a big phillies fan look i am. Glad theyre not playing today. Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous for them. Yeah. The weather was. The game wasnt so pretty. Were hoping for a better outcome tomorrow. The weather is going to be way worse as we go from the 70s yesterday to the low 40s during the game tomorrow night. And then look at that wednesday and thursday just miserable weather. Near 70 today with some showers coming in. And then more of a steadier lighter rain tomorrow and thursday, some drizzle at times. Windy and then friday we just jump out of that back into the 70s, with showers and storms. And then it sets us up for a nice weekend, though. I think the pattern will change significantly by the weekend. And people will be much happier by then. Yeah. If you have tickets for the weekend, youre in good luck. I think one of the games is on friday night, i cant remember. So that might be tough. There could be possible thunderstorms for a friday night. But wednesday and thursday i think they may have to play because the rain might not be heavy enough wont be quite cold enough and theyre going to be concerned about storms for friday.
