Following breaking news for you this morning. The search is on in philadelphia for men who robbed two owners of a Food Distribution center in fish town. Nbc 10s jesse gary was the first reporter on the scene this morning. We understand there was a third person inside during the robbery. Tell us what happened. Reporter this third person was a worker at the Food Distribution plant but investigators say the criminals knew exactly what they were doing. Five minutes in and out. Lets look at our video. Banged on the door and had on baseball style hats that said police and one had a badge. Once they busted their way in pass the owners they forced them into the room where the safe was. They put guns to the heads of the owners and make them open the safe and took 100,000 in cash and then tried to conceal the crime. They tried to tear some of the recording video equipment off of the wall, which they did, threw it to the ground, and then they exited through the same door that they entered and they fled in a vehicle. Reporter that Vehicle Police say is a mid 2000 chevy trailblazer suv and theres plenty of video. Even though they tore the equipment off the wall but there is video that showed their faces. Were told by police they hope to get us Surveillance Video to help them make capture in this case before the end of our broadcast. Fire tore through an abandoned house in camden. Nbc 10 was there around 2 30 this morning. The roof of the house did collapse as firefighters were fighting the fire. No one was hurt. Also new this morning, a house fire in north philadelphia left one person with minor injuries. It started around 11 00 last night at 28th. Heavy smoke coming out of the home when firefighters got there. Everyone was able to get out. The cause is under investigation. Its 4 33. Philadelphia will pay tribute to some Young Athletes today who captured hearts all over the region. The taney dragons will be featured in a parade to celebrate their Little League world series run. East on market to city hall and then to broad and a stop at Kimmel Center and at broad and washington and the parade will culminate with a rally at fdr park and then theyll head to Citizens Bank park where phillies will celebrate their achievements and all fans at the ballpark will get a free taney dragon tshirt. Happening today in philadelphia, a man who police say confessed to killing his wife in a local park is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing. Christopher murray is charged with murder and is being held without bail. Investigators say he initially reported his wife connie missing hours before her body was found but they say he failed a Lie Detector Test and admitted to strangling her during an argument. Investigators say the couple got into a fight at home the night before. Connie left. Police say her husband followed her to the park where they continued to argue and thats when he strangled her leaving her body there. Happening today, theres a push to get more children enrolled in prek in the city of philadelphia. They will announce a new initiative expected to talk about a new resource for parents who want to find high quality Early Childhood programs for their children. The announcement takes place at 11 00 in west philadelphia. Now from our jersey shore bureau, there will be a discussion on ways to reduce the tax increase. A rally was held after the City Council Approved that tax hike, 29 . This morning the house guest of two women killed in a philadelphia home is now charged in their execution style murders. Police say he shot the woman inside their house on vista street on saturday. He lived with the two women for almost three months and turned on them during an attempted robbery and killed them both. The murders rattled neighbors and the son of victim dolly evans says he cant understand why he would do such a terrible thing after his mom took him in off the streets following his recent release from prison. From our south jersey bureau. State police need your help finding the person who killed a Cumberland County woman and left her body in the woods. Hunters found 37yearold jennifer cruzchavezs body in Fairfield Township on sunday afternoon. An autopsy done on monday determined the woman died from blunt force trauma. If you have any information about this crime, call police. Charges have now been filed against a man suspected in a series of robberies that targeted the elderly in philadelphia. Police are still looking for two more suspects. Police say keith perkins, the man on the far left, turned himself in on monday. Police are looking for Joseph Donaldson and ronald singleton. Police believe those men are responsible for almost a dozen robberies in northeast philadelphia between june 3rd and august 13th. They would case out their victims at local banks, see them withdraw large sums of money and follow them home and rob them. From our jersey shore bureau, a north jersey man is in jail accused of two carjackings outside of the Golden Nugget casino in Atlantic City. He used a gun to steal a pontiac early sunday morning. A few hours later before noon, adams carjacked a chevy pickup truck at gunpoint. Police caught up to adams a few blocks away and took him into custody after a short chase. Authorities say these guys tried to rip off a parking attendant in logan circle on sunday and the surveillance cameras were rolling as they approached the attendant on commerce street. The guys demand money and his cell phone. He quickly shut the door and the men took off running. Police say this man broke into the Grocery Store last friday morning. Got in through the ceiling. Once inside, the suspect took cash and cigarettes before making his escape. Montgomery county students are all geared up for School Thanks to volunteers from a bank. Nbc 10 was in norristown yesterday where Citizens Bank delivered 400 new backpacks filled with School Supplies to an organization that helps children in need.
