Their head coach jerry divine is on administrative leave after this video shows him possibly head butting the referee in response to an offensive foul being called during last nights game. Were you surprised at how he reacted . Absolutely. You know . I wouldnt expect that from him. But i know the kind of person he is, and hes a respectable person. Reporter many of the parents of the players on the team are standing by the coach, despite not condoning his behavior. They say they were playing their biggest rival in a close game. Emotions were running high. And the incident came after what they believed were a series of bad calls. It was almost like disgusting watching a coach from, you know, the coaches are supposed to be showing an example to the students how to react. And thats why police say these kids with these hofberboards are becoming a target. Take the Surveillance Video shot two days after christmas. You see a teen riding a hoverboard in the francisville neighborhood. Three teens roll up on their bikes, then if you look closely, they punch him and steal the kids pricey christmas gift. They cycle off. Take a good hard look. This wasnt the first incident. It happened a week earlier this time in west philly. The suspect had weapons. They approach, pull out a handgun and then immediately take the hoverboard of one of the teens. Reporter philly police says these crimes are happening more and more. Look, you can actually see one of the gunmen at the shepherd rec center. They skaert and two make off with bags, phones and a red hoverboard. The motive, the cost and resale value. Some good for as high as 1200. The cheapest, 300 bucks. Most of these incidents happen, theyre local. Its usually somebody right from the neighborhood. Theres a possibility they might be riding around on this hoverboard in the neighborhood. Reporter police need your help. They hope to catch these hovering crooks before they strike again. On nbc 10 news today. On the same duber black drivers protested in philadelphia, a lawsuit has been filed against the ride sharing service. The plaintiffs say theyre being misclassified as independent contractors instead of employees so that uber can avoid paying hourly and overtime wages and other benefits. Uber released a statement to nbc 10 saying if drivers were classified as employees, they would, quote, lose the personal flexibility they value most. They would have set shifts, earn a fixed hourly wage and be unable to use other ride sharing apps. End quote. Israel says it will close its consulate here in philadelphia by the end of this year. Mayor jim kenney says hell do what he can to keep it open. Mayor kenneys office says its disappointed since philadelphia has a sister city relationship with tel aviv. The consulate in center city is one of six planned closures around the world. All part of a cost saving measure. A decision to close the consulate two years ago was canceled thanks in part by efforts of former mayor Michael Nutter and the jewish community. Nbc 10 in langhorne tonight. The board listened as the community weighed in on keeping the Elementary School opened. The board postponed the vote until april. Its considered closing the school. A hearing for lower South Hampton will be held tomorrow night. A radnor man is due in court to face charges in the alleged sexual abuse of a 13yearold relative. Police arrested Charles Robinson last week on his 60th birthday. They say the alleged abuse went on for several years. Robinson was also involved with the boy scouts of america, youth groups and a local church. Investigators fear more victims may be out there and theyre asking anyone with concerns about robinson to contact them. The texas state trooper who arrested sandra bland will be fired now that hes charged with perjury. Get out of the car today a grand jury indicted trooper brian insin ya saying he lied about how he removed planned from her car when she refused to get out. She died three days later in jail. Her death was ruled a suicide. One of the Baltimore Police officers charged in freddie grays death will have to testify against another officer charged in the case. Today a judge ruled William Porter can be compelled to testify in the trial of police wagon driver caesar goodson. Jury selection is set to begin monday. Goodsons trial is for Second Degree murder. Porter is scheduled to be tried again in june. Protesters made their calls for justice heard outside the federal courthouse in canton today. They say the five men convicted of conspiring to kill ft. Dix shoulders were caught in a government sting targeting muslims. All three brothers and their original public defenders were questioned today. My brothers one of the hardest working men i know. They built this country. Were roofing and doing construction in this country. We were building it, building housing, doing roofs, how are people like that going to destroy the country we live . The brothers are serving life sentences without parole. The same judge who presided over the 2008 trial will now decide if those attorneys wrongfully persuaded the men to avoid testifying in their own defense. A pair of state lawmakers plan s to introduce a bill tomorrow to require the state to provide adequate and fair access to the beaches. A ruling last month took away that authority from the state. Reporter its causing a lot of fear, but immigration officials do tell nbc 10 the raids are not happening in philadelphia but in places like georgia and north carolina, 120 people have been arrested including families with Young Children, and tonight in south philly, a meeting was held as paranoia begins to take over. In a packed south philly meeting room families gather with burning questions. Fear of a raid has sent many into hiding, some not showing up to work or school. I started getting calls on sunday. And its been nonstop ever since. Reporter advocates explain families do have rights, to see an attorney and see a signed warrant. But the worry is everywhere. You have the right to remain silent and a right to defend your case. Reporter the new enforcement targets faeps who have arrived in the past two years including Young Children fleeing violence in central america. Advocates say the feds are deporting families back into danger. Theyre saying were targeting women and children. But Officials Say all have gone through the courts and been denied their claims of asylum. That hasnt stopped the paranoia. If you lived here for a long time and built up equities in the united states, i dont think ice is going to come knocking down your door. Reporter he says most undocumented immigrants wont be affected by the new raids, but he does worry that the ones who are scooped up wont have proper legal representation. And by rushing these cases through, i think a lot of wellfounded claims have probably been denied. Reporter but Homeland Security says theyre simply enforcing the law, deporting those who crossed over the border illegally. While so far this enforcement has targeted states in the south, the Homeland Security director did say additional enforcement could be coming down the pipe. The council of Spanish Speaking americans taught hundreds of kids the pib lickal story of the Three Wise Men gibbing gifts to baby jesus. Philadelphia District AttorneySeth Williams dressed up as one of the kings, then the council gave presents to the children, many of whom are in the foster program. A philadelphia couple is getting evicted just weeks after the public donated thousands of dollars to give them a new home. Those donations poured in after the thenhomeless couples son was found alone in love park. Chosen ministries raised 12,000 to help the family rent a home for a year so they could regain custody of their chkids. Now they said the couple missed a hearing, resisted counseling and failed a drug test. Make us feel like were the type of people that we want to be lazy or we got a house, were really not that toip of people. Chosen 300 tells nbc 10 it will release the rest of the money raised if the court says the couple are ready to get their two children back. Weve got several reports of pipes bursting at homes along the jersey shore. Firefighter say theyve been dealing with a wave of water leaks in ocean city and cape may.
